In the desolate halls of Moonwalk hospital, a chilling sense of dread clawed at the heart of Alpha Kilian. His gaze fixated on Nelly as she was wheeled into the emergency room, an unspoken fear consuming him.
As the flickering light above the room burst into life, Kilian wasted no time. He hurried to the side, his trembling fingers dialing the number of the hospital director, a sense of urgency permeating his voice. He feared for the safety of the woman he loved.
Soon enough, Aiden Ackles, the director himself, descended the stairs with a team of specialists trailing behind him. After exchanging brief words with Alpha Kilian, he disappeared through the doors of the operating room, leaving Kilian to anxiously wait in the corridor.
Minutes ticked by, each moment settling as a weight upon his shoulders. Time stretched out before him, dragging on and inflicting torment upon his soul.
Nearly twenty minutes had come and gone when Aiden finally emerged from the operating room. Alpha Kilian wasted no time in approaching him, his voice desperate as he inquired about Nelly’s condition.
“Fear not, Alpha Morris,” Aiden reassured, his voice laced with calm. “The patient’s life is not in jeopardy. She has suffered minor injuries, a few fractures, and a concussion. Her internal organs remain unharmed. However, she will require rest and recovery due to the concussion.”
Hearing this diagnosis, a wave of relief washed over Alpha Kilian, allowing his heart to settle back within his chest. Grateful, he spoke his gratitude to Mr. Ackles, apologizing for his insistence on a personal visit.
“No need for apologies, Alpha Morris,” Aiden replied warmly. “We are always ready to assist. You have been a pivotal supporter of this hospital, and we are thankful for your contributions.”
Yet, despite the reassurances, a glimmer of worry lingered in Alpha Kilian’s eyes as they remained fixed on the entrance to the operating room.
“Do not fret, for the injuries are not severe,” Aiden continued, attempting to ease Kilian’s troubled thoughts. “However, the treatment takes time. She shall be brought out soon. Would you like to wait in my office, Alpha Morris? I can offer you a cup of quality coffee to ease your nerves.”Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Snapping back to the present, Alpha Kilian turned to Aiden and politely declined the offer. “No, I shall find solace in waiting here. Please, return to your duties.”
Aiden nodded in understanding. “Very well. I have already given the necessary instructions, and the staff will make the necessary arrangements. Contact me if you require any further assistance. I can always be found within the hospital grounds.”
Alpha Kilian acknowledged Aiden’s words with a nod. Only after the hospital director had departed did he sink onto a nearby bench, releasing a heavy sigh of relief.
Pulling out his phone, he found himself drawn to Donna’s contact on WhatsApp. An indescribable feeling welled within him as he clicked through her status updates, finding nothing but ordinary pictures of her daily life.
A smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he gazed upon a recent photo of Donna, her bright and adorable smile captivating his heart. A whirlwind of emotions churned within him, unsure of whether Donna was truly his daughter despite the timing indicating so.
Yet, the need to confirm this with Nelly weighed heavily on his mind.
He attempted to compose a lengthy WhatsApp message to Donna, only to delete it in hesitation. Just as he was about to put his phone away, it rang once more, Fabian’s name flashing on the screen.
Alpha Kilian moved to the side and answered the call. “Hello.”
“Alpha Morris, the car has been retrieved and the accident scene handled. Upon inspecting the vehicle, it was discovered that the brake hose had been intentionally cut, causing the incident. However, a thorough investigation is required to uncover the full details. It seems that Ms. Jackson had driven the car to a secluded location in an attempt to force a stop before the truck driver unexpectedly appeared, resulting in the accident,” Fabian explained.
Alpha Kilian’s brows furrowed deeply as he listened to the revelation. The cutting of the brake hose was no mere accident, but a deliberate attempt at Nelly’s life. It was only through sheer luck that she had narrowly escaped. The thought of what could have transpired if luck had not been on her side sent shivers down his spine. Who would want her dead?
“Does Ms. Jackson have any enemies?” Fabian’s sudden question echoed through the phone. He understood the gravity of the situation, having witnessed the accident scene firsthand.
Alpha Kilian’s lips pressed into a thin line as he pondered the question. After a long pause, he instructed firmly, “We must investigate this matter thoroughly, no matter the cost.”
“Understood. Even if we don’t take action, the police have been alerted and will conduct their own investigation,” Fabian responded.
As he spoke those words, a thought crossed his mind, prompting him to ask, “But how did you know that Ms. Jackson was in danger?”
Recalling the phone call that had set this chain of events in motion, Alpha Kilian remembered the voice of a sobbing boy, warning him of Nelly’s imminent danger. How did the boy know?
“We will discuss that once I have more information. For now, carry out my orders,” Alpha Kilian instructed, his tone unwavering.
“Understood.”
After ending the call, Alpha Kilian reflected on the situation. Ultimately, he made the decision to call Donna.
“Mr. Handsome,” Donna’s choked voice reached his ears as the call connected.
Alpha Kilian’s heart skipped a beat, but he gathered his courage and spoke, “We have arrived at the hospital. Your mother is safe.”
“Thank you, Mr. Handsome. Thank you for saving Mommy,” Donna’s tearful voice filled the air.
Alpha Kilian fell silent, unsure of how to respond in that moment. “It is late now. Would you still like to come over or would it be better to wait until tomorrow? I can arrange for someone to pick you up.”
“No, we want to come over. My brother is restless, and we cannot wait,” Donna insisted.
Her brother… Perhaps they truly are my children.
“In that case, I will arrange for someone to pick you up,” Alpha Kilian relented.
“No need. Gramps will bring us,” Donna replied.
After a brief moment of consideration, Alpha Kilian nodded. “Very well. Be careful on your way.”
As he hung up the phone and clutched it tightly in his hand, a surge of wild emotions threatened to burst forth from his chest. He wanted to laugh, but he restrained himself, unwilling to embrace such feelings until everything was confirmed.
Casting a glance over his shoulder towards the doors of the emergency room, he silently pleaded, “Do not disappoint me, Nelly.”
Meanwhile, at home, Donna turned to Tony and Ben after the call ended. The conversation had been on speakerphone, allowing both boys to hear the entire exchange.
“We can no longer keep this a secret. We must inform Gramps,” Donna declared.
Tony nodded in agreement. “Yes, we should.”
“Let’s go then,” Donna urged, rising to her feet.
But before they could leave, Tony halted them. “Wait.”
Donna and Ben turned to face him, their gazes filled with curiosity. “What is it?”
“I forgot to tell both of you something,” Tony began, a hint of solemnity in his voice.
Donna and Ben exchanged glances, their attention fully focused on the young boy. “What is it?” they pressed.
