Chapter 593 She's Willing to Give Everything
Chloe was at a loss.
"What on earth is she talking about?" she wondered.
Before Chloe could say anything, Michael spoke up, "I don't agree. If three people can live together, then why not four!!" Chloe was on the verge of losing it, feeling overwhelmed by these two lunatics.
Suddenly, the doors of the operating room burst open, and a nurse hurried out, looking anxious. "Is anyone here Rh-negative?" The group outside was startled. "What's wrong? Isn't there enough blood in the hospital's blood bank?"
"There's plenty of blood for other common types, but Rh-negative is always in short supply. We need someone to donate." Maggie rushed to the nurse. "Nurse, I'm O-negative, take mine!"
"Isn't O-type blood the universal donor type?" she thought.
The nurse looked troubled. "Are you Rh-negative?"
Maggie hesitated. "I don't know."
She only knew that she was O-type blood.
"Even if you're O-type, it has to be Rh-negative as well, or you can't donate."
As Maggie grew increasingly desperate, on the verge of tears, Chloe stepped forward. "Take mine. I'm Rh-negative."
Michael and Maggie were both stunned to learn this about her.
Michael had been with Chloe for three years and never knew she had such a rare blood type.
"You're Rh-negative? Come with me quickly!"
Upon hearing that, the nurse was immediately eager to take Chloe to donate.
"Wait, she can't! She's pregnant!"
Michael stepped in front of Chloe, trying to stop her from taking the risk.
"It's okay, I can do this. Even pregnant women can donate blood."
Chloe knew this common knowledge.
She was pregnant, but she was in good health. Besides, with James' life hanging by a thread, she could not step in to save him. Michael grabbed her wrist, but she shook him off.
"I have to do this!"
Seeing the determination in her eyes, Michael felt his resistance suddenly fade away.
He did not expect she would be willing to go to such lengths for James!
In the blood donation room, Chloe and the nurse prepared for the procedure. "Miss, I'm in good shape. Take the maximum amount."
The nurse chuckled at her request. "Everyone has a limit on how much they can donate. Taking too much could be dangerous for you, especially since you're pregnant. Don't worry, we'll take what's needed." Chloe narrowed her eyes and closed them, trying to ignore the blood bag beside her. Once the donation was over, Michael was already waiting for her at the door.
The nurse took the blood bag and hurried back into the operating room.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Then began the long and agonizing three-hour wait.
Finally, the lights in the operating room went out, and the doctor emerged. "Who here is the patient's family?"
Both Chloe and Maggie stood up. "I am."
The doctor glanced at the two of them. He recognized Chloe, as she had been with James when he was brought in, so he naturally approached her.
"The surgery was very successful. However, he's still in the recovery phase, so it's important to be vigilant. As long as the wound doesn't get infected, there shouldn't be any major issues."
The doctor's words brought a wave of relief and joy to both Chloe and Maggie, though it also felt somewhat expected.
"Thank you, doctor!"
A nurse wheeled James out of the operating room. He was lying on the bed, conscious but extremely weak.
For this kind of surgery, doctors usually wait until the anesthesia wears off before bringing the patient out, as they worry that lingering effects of the anesthesia could cause the patient to slip into unconsciousness again, putting their life at risk. James lay weakly on the hospital bed, his lips pale.
Maggie had never seen him like this before. In her memory, James was always proud and untamed.
