Accidentally Married

Branch One Hundred and Ten

The rest of the dinner was Olivia passing unnecessary comments randomly and the whole table keeping her silent all through. She did not take the hint but kept going on and on about whatever she deemed fit to talk about.

“Who would take me up?” Dawson asked. He was hoping Jessica would volunteer. He needed to speak with her.

“I will,” she said standing up. She wanted to do anything to make sure she escaped that woman. She cared less about where it was that she would sleep that night.

“Okay, good night everyone” Dawson called as Jessica rolled his chair away.

“Oh, Son inlaw” Olivia called in a sing-song voice.

“The staff will show you to a room where you can stay for the time being,” Xavier said standing up and leaving.

“Rude much” she called after him. He did not turn back to acknowledge her but kept on walking. “I guess that the rich have to be rude,” she said as she stood up. She walked around the house running her hand over anything that looked expensive.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

“How annoying of Jessica to think she could keep this all to herself” she snickered happily. She was going to ensure that she made so much money out of them.

“Excuse me, ma’am, you need to come this way,” a staff said moving toward her.

“Oh definitely,” she said her eyes twinkling. ‘I have hit the jackpot’ she squealed inwardly.

The room she was given was empty but big. She gasped at the sight of the room and walked in. “I’ll leave you to it then,” the staff said closing the door.

“How foolish of that girl Jessica” she murmured to herself. “She got the opportunity to taste such wealth but she had not been maximizing it”

Dawson and Jessica enter the room. “Help me to the bed too,” Dawson said.

“Okay,” she said helping him to his feet and the bed. She put him in and helped him tuck in. As she was about to stand up Dawson’s hand covered hers.

“Jessica, you did nothing wrong”

“What do you mean?”

“You know I’ve been around for a long time so I am sure I can tell when a person is blaming themselves for a situation they can’t control. I don’t know the full story and neither do I want to know. Do not blame yourself and sleep tight tonight. By tomorrow we will sort it all out. I promise” he said squeezing her hand.

Jessica opened her mouth and closed it multiple times like a fish. She wanted to talk but did not know how to express the emotions she felt. Both grandfather and grandson had found a unique way to console her and she felt grateful.

“You don’t have to say anything. Now would you go to bed? You haven’t even had rest since you got back from your trip” Dawson said freeing her hand.

Jessica gave Dawson a hand squeeze to show her expression that she could not express with words. She stood up and left the room. She opened the door back and whispered to him.

“Thank you”

Jessica hurriedly closed the door and went to her room. She met Xavier on the way back to the room. They almost bumped into each other but stopped before they could hit heads with each other.

“What are you doing here?” she asked

“Errmm… I wanted to see Dawson, yeah to see him. I have not been able to see him since I got back from Aurora Haven” he rambled on.

“Okay then be on your way and I’ll be on my way,” Jessica said turning to the side so he could go through.

“I guess it’s late, I’ll see him tomorrow,” Xavier said turning on his heels to go back to his room.

“Wait where are you looking for me?” She asked chasing after his long strides.

“No I wasn’t” he denied strongly.

“They always say strong denial is acceptance,” she said walking side by side with him.

“I was not” he repeated.

“I think you were” she murmured gently.

“I was not” he murmured too.

“I guess you were,” she said before she doubled her speed to the door. She tried to open the door when a hand covered hers.

She turned around and he was hovering over her.

“What are you doing?” she said her voice as tiny as a mouse. Her confidence was now gone with him towering over her.

“I did come to find you so what?” he asked his voice dangerously low. The sound of his voice in her stomach was delightful for her.

“Nothing,” she said in a squeak and a hiccup followed.

‘Did he not change back to his default setting with the change in the environment?’ she asked herself.

Xavier bent his head to her eye level. She felt the hiccups come on and on without stopping. She closed her eyes and prepared for the worst. She heard the door click open and she opened her eyes.

“Go on in,” he said standing back with a smirk all over his face.

‘So he was purposely teasing her?’ she thought. “I need to get water for the hiccups,” she said going under his arms.

“I’ll come with you”

“No” she screamed before he could take a step. “Go in and get ready for bed. U would only take a water bottle and come back up” she said.

Now that he was the one who seemed to have the upper hand she did not like the way it sat with her. She wished to be the one with the upper hand. She liked it better when she was the one teasing him and not the other way around.

“Go” she gestured as she hurried to the direction of the stairs.

Xavier nodded as he watched her go out of his sight. He entered the room and into the closet. He changed out of his clothes and then went to stay on the bed.

He suddenly got a call from Marcus who was the lawyer. He suddenly remembered how he treated him the last time and felt a pang of guilt which did not last long because he remembered how much of a flirt he was being to his wife.

“Hello, Mr. Marcus”
