Accidentally Married

“It is so late at night, what is so urgent that could not wait till the next morning?” Xavier asked as he stood up to sit on one of the chairs.

“I am aware of that but it was so urgent I had to call immediately” he explained. “So many companies are pulling out investment in the new company because of a scandalous rumor referring to the top model we used.

“What?” Xavier could not wrap his mind around it. It was a bit too rare to have their models have scandals. The Braxton enterprise always stuck with models they had used before and for the first time, they decided to use a model who was new so they could appeal to the younger generations they had a serious crisis on their hands.

“What is it? The scandal?” he asked sighing.

“Scarlett who we used committed a series of crimes that the investors could not overlook”

“Such as?” Xavier barked.

“Abortions, drunk driving, bullying amongst many others” he replied.

“The investors are not too pleased and are asking why we used such a person. It’s not looking good for business as the share prices are dropping by the minute”

“Send a memo to the general public and cancel our contract with Scarlett, ensure she pays the penalty fee for what she has done now. We need to find a new model ASAP so go ahead and contact the agencies. I would speak to the investors. If need be I would involve the chairman too” Xavier said dishing out the orders.

“Should I be expecting you at the office tonight?” Marcus asked over the phone.

Do what you can do to control the situation and then go back home to rest. We would go on with the control of things tomorrow”

“So you would not be coming out tonight?” Marcus asked.

Usually in situations that require emergency or urgency Xavier usually made them work all night and all day till it was resolved. Here Xavier was telling him to go home and rest. It was a wonder to him as he replayed his words in his head.

“No Marcus, I won’t be coming out till morning and I am sure there is a way to put everything we have done under control too” Xavier explained.

“My wife is having a tough time tonight and I think it would be foolish of me to leave her be by herself,” Xavier said.

He had no idea as to why he told him what he just did. Did he want to break that he was the one currently by her side?

“Oh okay,” Marcus said. “See you at the office tomorrow then,” He said before proceeding to cut off the call.

“If you need to go to work then you can do so. I am manage and I will get her out of this house before dusk tomorrow”

Xavier turned to see Jessica standing there. “I did not mean to eavesdrop” she added.

“It’s okay the situation can be resolved without me being there” he lied. He wanted to be there for her at the moment that felt so tough.

“I’ll get changed then”

Jessica felt her heart drop when she heard him say he would get changed. Yes, she asked him to go but only because she wanted to sound good. She wanted him around so he would comfort her. His presence was enough.

“What’s that expression?”

“What expression?”

“How do you expect me to go if you have that expression on your face?” he asked as he walked towards her.

He stood feet apart and she shuffled on her feet. “I did not make any expression. I know how important your work is so how can I keep you away from it?” she asked looking down and not looking up.

“Don’t you worry I would be going nowhere. I am sure the situation can wait till morning. Our legal team would do what they can do before the morning to get it all under control” he said assuring her.

“I’ll go get changed for bed,” she told him as she passed his side to the closet.

She felt her stomach leap got joy knowing he was not going to leave her alone. She changed quickly and came to the room. She met him sitting on the couch.

“Do you still have anything to attend to? Like phone calls to make?” she asked as she sorted the pillows on the bed.

“Yeah, I’ll join you shortly”

Jessica could not believe she was having a smooth conversation with Xavier. It felt weird. They had smooth conversations at Aurora Haven but it did not feel weird because they were not at their base, but coming back here he was still acting the same made her feel weird.

“The personal trainer would be coming tomorrow,” he said as she put herself under the covers.

“Why?” she said sitting up on the bed.

“You said you want to exercise better so I got us a persona trainer” he explained.

“Would you be joining us?” she asked.

“Of course yes”

“Don’t worry about that. An hour or two would not make it worse” he said.

Jessica laid down back and felt a blush creep up. She did not know if he was being intentional or was doing all these because she asked by writing but she felt led on. He was being so romantic that she would jump him any chance she got.

“Xavier,” she said as she sat up straight on the bed again.

“Yeah,” he said looking up from his phone to her.

“You do not need to do everything on that list. They were wishes but not all wishes come true”

“I do not mind doing them” he confessed.

“Do not try to deter me I’ll do what I want to do” he added before she could say anything.

She nodded and laid back down. She sang to herself silently until she could sleep. Xavier got a text from a strange number and it read.
