Accidentally Married

Branch One Hundred and Seven

Jessica screamed out and stood up. All she had done at night yesterday began to come back to her memory. She indirectly confessed to Xavier yesterday.

“What have I done?” she muttered as she stood in awe.

She could not believe what she had done. She always made mistakes when she drank so why did she drink every time?

“What is it?” Xavier asked moving closer to her.

“Don’t come close” she screamed making him stop in his tracks.

“What is it? Why are you acting this way?” he asked again forgetting that he had dialed the number of the delivery place.

“Hello sir” the phone vibrated in his hand.

“Hold on, I need to order the soup,” he said putting his phone back to his ears.

Jessica took that as an opportunity to flee. Her head was pounding but she knew that it was time for her to leave. How could she stand there and watch him?

She began to walk hurriedly out of the house.

“Wait” Xavier could barely get the word out when she had dashed out of the house so fast he could not catch up to her.

She turned in any direction she deemed fit as the memories of what she had said all night replayed in her mind.

She had confessed to Xavier and complimented his looks over and over again. Asif puking on him was not enough reason for him to have her she kept piling and adding to the list.

“Oh Jessica are you a master of horrible decisions?” she asked as she walked down the sandy beach side.

She was not dressed to be outside. She could catch a cold by staying out too long in the breeze of the beach side but she did not know if she could face him.

What if remembered all that happened and what if he did not? What if he was pretending not to remember to see if she would bring it up first? She felt frustrated and wished that she did not remember things like that. Why did she have to remember how she humiliated herself and confessed love?

She sighed and shook her head in her hand vigorously. She sat in the sand hoping that the ground would open up so she could crawl inside or the world would end in the next few minutes so she did not have to face him.

“You should not be sitting out here in the cold,” Xavier said as he put a down jacket over her shoulders.

She sniffled and was grateful for the warmth but she was not sure if she could face him yet. It had been a little over thirty minutes.

“What are you doing here? I wanted to be alone” she said looking away.

“Well, I had to bring this soup for you because I am sure you need it. I am sure you have a splitting headache from drinking too much”

“I can manage”

“I know you can, just have this soup,” he said removing the plate of soup from the bag in hand and putting it out on the sand.

“Just have some”

Jessica had no choice but to take the soup. Not only did she need the soup to cure her handover. It was still warm so it would warm her up and stop her cold.

“Why did you sprint so fast out of the house?” Xavier asked looking down at the ocean.

Jessica coughed as she choked on the soup in her mouth.

“Be careful, here” Xavier did handing her an opened bottle of water.

“Thanks,” Jessica said downing down the bottle.

“So why did you sprint?”

“Nothing in particular,” she said playing with her soup with the spoon in her hand.

Was she to say Oh, I remembered all I did yesterday and the embarrassment was overwhelming that I could not face you properly.

“If it’s about what happened yesterday then you have nothing to worry about. I know it was a drunken mistake”

Jessica’s whipped to face him. He remembered and was making excuses for her. How sweet of him.

‘Except that it was not a drunken mistake. I have really taken a liking to you. I like you Xavier Delgado’ she said to herself.

How could she say it if she was not under the influence of alcohol?

“Hmm,” she cleared her throat. “It was a mistake and I am sorry. I think I need to do away with the drinks for now” she added.

“Yeah, so there is no need to be embarrassed. I am sure I have done many embarrassing things while drunk before too”

“But they are embarrassing things that I have not seen you do before” she muttered. “If I have seen you do them I might be more comfortable about puking all over you and saying that I like you”

“Well, I want to keep my dignity in front of you so I hope that you never get to see me drunk”

Jessica found it funny. He wanted to keep his dignity in front of her. What did that mean? Was it just a statement that had no much sentiment behind it or was it a way of him saying something hidden?

“Thank you” she murmured.

“For what?”

“For making seem comfortable even after I had embarrassed myself so much. “Also thank you for an amazing experience here in Aurora Haven. It was my first time abroad and I had the most fun ever”

“I am glad it turned out that way even if I was skeptical about bringing you in the first place. I also had fun”

Jessica and Xavier’s eyes meet for what seems like an eternity. Jessica could swear that she saw the sparks fly around the place and she could sense the connection. She cleared her throat and looked away.

“When do we leave?” she asked changing the topic. If she had not managed to control herself she would have been on top of him forcing her tongue into his mouth.

“Yes, we do. Can you finish your soup on time so we can go back inside? It is chiller than I expected”
