Accidentally Married

Jessica could not believe that her mini-vacation was coming to an end already. They hoped the place back to Chiachester City. She was glad to be back home but was afraid that a change in scenery would make Xavier return to his old state.

Xavier was driven to the office while Jessica was taken home. Immediately she got home she went to see Dawson. Dawson’s face lit up immediately when he saw her.

“And that’s the first thing you ask me?” she said rolling her eyes and going towards him. “I missed you so much” She bent to hug him and he reciprocated. When she pulled away other was a smile on his face.

“How was it?” he asked eagerly like a child waiting to be given a treat.

“It was a fun adventure for me”

“Is that all? How far did you go with Xavier?”

“Dawson!!” she exclaimed.

“What? I deserve to know. I set you up on this honeymoon” he said.

“Well, for starters nothing much changed” Jessica lied. She did not want to raise Dawson’s hopes in case Xavier had a change or heart and decided to treat her the way he had been doing before the trip.

“Nothing much? The two of you are in an enclosed space and nothing much changed or happened?” Disbelief was evident in his voice.

“Believe it or not it’s the truth,” Jessica said. “But by the way, I got you this because I thought it would look very good on you”

Jessica pulled out a box from the bag she had been holding, inside the box was a wristwatch. Jessica has gotten it on the last day of their stay. She has told Xavier she needed to get some gifts for some people and he drove her all the way to the inner city to get things for her.

“This is so lovely and thoughtful of you,” Dawson said as Jessica put it around his arm.

“So make sure to wear this lovely and thoughtful gift every day”

“Yeas” Dawson replied sulking.

It felt to him like he had invested a lot into a business and it flopped at the end of the day. He felt devasted and hurt that he had put the two of them together and there was no significant progress.

“Why are you sulking?”

“I am not sulking”

It felt like at that moment something dinged in Dawson”s brain. It felt like he knew a way to bring them closer. He felt defeated but he was not going to give up.

“Next month is Xavier’s birthday and I would like to throw him a party,” Dawson said wheeling his chair towards the window.

“Next month? Wow I did not know that”

“You two should learn basic things about each other. If you continue this way, everyone will catch on that this is not a real marriage very soon ” Dawson cautioned her.

“We will try our best to keep it under for the moment and learn more about each other”

“That’s by the way. I want you to be the one to throw the surprise party for him”

“Me? Just me? Without any help?”

“Yes just you”

Jessica had gotten a gift for almost everyone in the house. Everyone was raining praises on her because the men of the house usually went on business trips but ended up coming back empty-handed.

“What do you want to eat for dinner? I’ll make something special for you and the young master” Roselle said as she held the box of perfume close to her chest.

“I’ll make dinner,” Jessica said.

“Oh no, there is no way I can allow that. I need to make sure you rest well after the trip back. You just got back so I would make dinner”

Jessica had a feeling that she was not going to win the battle with Roselle today. Her happiness from recovering the gift was overflowing and Jessica did not want to offend her.

“Okay, then I would anticipate something big. I hope it will be a big spread.” she teased.

“Sure,” Roselle said skipping away from the house.

“You are just like my sister”

Jessica turned around to see Genevieve standing there with her hand folded across her chest and her body resting on the wall.

“What?” Jessica asked.

“You are just very similar to my sister. Xavier’s mom” she said pushing herself from the wall and walking towards her.

“I am? In what ways? I never knew her so…” she said trailing off.

“She was an extremely nice person. She was always shining in everything she did. She was one of the people who cared for the house staff like they were family” Genevieve said fondly.

Genevieve had always not seen the need to be a good person if we all die in the end. Today was a good day for her to remember her sister and talk about her.

“She never discriminated or looked down on others. She was beautiful outward but bless her heart. She was truly a special breed” A tear dropped from her eye as she began to think back on all the memories she shared with her sister.

“You know everyone gave up on me but she never did. She was the only one who treated me like a human. God bless her soul”

“She sounds like a really nice person and I am flattered you can even think you compare me to her,” Jessica said.

“Well, ever since I got here you have never treated me as less of a person. You even took extra care of me with all the special meals and all and I want to say thank you” Genevieve said taking her hands into hers and squeezing so tightly.

“I am so grateful for you and for the gift you brought back from Aurora Haven. I’m flattered you thought of me” she said rubbing her hand gently and ending with a laugh.

“I’m glad you liked the gift. I thought long and hard on what to get you and then I spent Xavier’s money to get them” she added.

Both women burst out laughing. Jessica felt like she was having a connection with her. Who was Xavier complaining about such a sweet woman? Ever since she got there she had been nothing but a delight.

“I would soon be on site of my restaurant to supervise and hopefully by the end of next month we should be opening up”

Genevieve nodded her head. She was not sure why Jessica was telling her this but her heart felt warm just by hearing it.

“And I was thinking that if you do not mind you can come along with me as I go supervise everything and get them ready”

“I would love to” Genevieve cut her off with so much excitement waiting to be unleashed.

“Oh wow, I’m glad I asked.

“I’m glad you asked me too,” Genevieve e said going in with a hug.
