Chapter 80
Chapter 80
Speak of the devil. Myles Damian had turned up with a plate of tempura. Dressed in his chef’s uniform, Myles greeted Sage politely, “I heard that you’re here so I thought to come to say hello.”
“You don’t have to be this formal around me,” Sage said, “I’ve told you so many times.”
With a face full of smiles, Myles replied, “I still ought to be polite to you. You’re my senior after all.” Yoel dropped his chopsticks. His mouth fell open, as he stared at Myles. Myles looked to be in his forties. “What did you say? She’s your senior?” “Yeah.’ Putting down the plate of tempura on the table, Myles added, “Sage is my grandfather’s pupil and my father’s junior. Of course, she would be my senior, right, Sage?”
Sage smiled lovingly at him. “Yeah.”
Yoel was speechless.
What did he just witness?
Yoel still thought that Sage and Myles were still playing a joke on him. Looking at Myles, Yoel asked, “Chef Damian, I thought that there was a rule in your family that only allowed men to apprentice.”
“You’re right, but there’s always an exception.”
Looking at Sage with admiration, Myles explained, “Sage was the exception. I remembered that my grandfather had said that my father was unfit to take his place, and he had wanted Sage to be the thirteenth successor, but Sage had declined. Later, she helped my father, and she made sure that he was able to inherit the title. She had also personally taught me, and it was she who got me to where I am today. But I’m not as talented as Sage.”
Sage replied, “Don’t underestimate yourself, Myles. You’re doing great, and I’m sure that your grandfather would be proud of you.”
Myles bowed deeply at Sage. “Thank you for teaching me, Sage. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be where I am today.” Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“There now,” replied Sage, “It’s been such a long time since we met, and you’re still being courteous around me. Just do your best in running the business.”
Myles responded politely, “Yes, ma’am.”
Yoel was rendered speechless once again Yoel was shell-shocked as he studied Myles, the famous chef, being subservient to Sage.
Reaching for his phone, Yoel texted Jace: [Have you tried Sage’s dishes before?]
Jace replied after some time: (She did cook, but I never tried them. Why?]
Yoel: (Chef Myles Damian is her pupil! How did you not try her food?!]
Jace: [What are you on about?]
Yoel felt the corners of his lips twitch. He cursed Jace under his breath for not appreciating such an amazing wife.
Yoel wondered whether Jace would be as appalled as he was once he found out that his ex-wife was not only a professional hacker but that she was also a professional chef.
He also wondered if Jace would drown in his own regrets. Yoel was suddenly looking forward to the day when Jace found out.
