Chapter 512
Chapter 512
"My father said that Franklin was supposed to have dinner with Natasha at home today. | don't know
why he showed up," Lucille answered.
Her belly hurt from time to time. The period of time without pain were truly moments of bliss for her.
"So, did he hit you?"
Zoel fretted about this matter.
"He..."
Although she had decided to cut Franklin off, when Zoel asked about it, she could not help but cover up
for him.
It was very quiet inside the car. Lucille didn't say anything, nor did he ask any more questions.
However, the labor pains continued assaulting her periodically and constantly.
Zoel drove her all the way to the hospital. After a quick checkup, she was wheeled into the delivery
room right away.
In the cramped delivery room, Lucille went through the longest eight hours of her life. She stayed in
that room from evening till midnight, in pain, sleepy and hungry. She then ate a few pieces of
chocolate. Finally, at three o'clock in the morning, the sound of a baby's cry rang out in the silent
delivery room.
The doctor came over and told her that it was a girl.
When Lucille was sent to the ward, she saw not only Abby and Marie, but also Zoel outside.
"Lucille, you're a trooper!"
"Wow, you almost scared me to death. I thought something went wrong."
Marie and Abby gathered around to express their concern for her in their own ways.
"Come on, the baby was delivered safely." Lucille glanced at Zoel, who was keeping his distance and
standing behind Marie and Abby. "Thank you, Mr. Parker. Go back and have a good rest. I'm really
sorry that you had to wait till this late at night."
"Alright, I'll be going then."
As there were three women in the ward and Lucille might have to undergo another checkup later, it
might be awkward for him to stay there, as the sole man. With this reasoning in mind, he took his leave.
After he left, Abby immediately hurried to Lucille's side. "Wow, is he the owner of the gallery? He
seems interested in you! We asked him to go back, but he refused to leave."
"No way, he probably has someone else that he likes. Besides, I'm not that alluring. There's no way
everyone likes me." Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Lucille didn't forget that incident when she and Zoel were in the gallery previously. He fell asleep,
dazedly held her in his arms, and called her "Megan".
Marie was on Abby's side. She said, "I think he's a good catch. If he doesn't mind that you have a child.
You should give him a serious thought."
"Marie, my only focus for now is raising my child. As for other matters, I'll cross that bridge when I get
to it." Lucille paused for a moment and added, "Plus, it's unfair for all parties if I get into a new
relationship now."
Her heart still yearned for Franklin too.
Lucille recalled his obvious look of concern when Zoel carried her to the car the day before.
It was so distinct; she couldn't forget it even if she wanted to.
"Bed 39." A doctor came in, looking at Lucille on the hospital bed. "Your baby has a unilateral cleft lip.
Apart from that, everything's normal."
"When can the baby undergo corrective surgery?"
This was Lucille's top concern.
"The child has to undergo general anesthesia during the surgery. As it's risky, the surgery will have to
wait until the baby has grown a little. However, corrective surgery for a unilateral cleft lip is a relatively
simple procedure. She can undergo the surgery after a hundred days, but it will also depend on her
condition at that time."
The doctor gave Lucille a brief explanation.
"That's great." From the sound of it, she could rest assured that her child's cleft lip was not a serious
issue. She finally relaxed, but soon after, she asked again, "How much does the surgery cost?"
"We'll make it happen no matter the cost," declared Abby instantly.
"That's right! I can pitch in too," Marie said.
The doctor looked at them and shook his head with a smile. "There are many foundations, both local
and foreign, that sponsor this type of surgery. You can start applying now. When the child is fit for
surgery, we can do it right away."
It was only when Lucille heard the doctor's explanation that she remembered being told the same thing
while undergoing the 4- D ultrasound check-up before.
"Okay, then we'll apply right away."
Abby agreed immediately; she was adept at dealing with such procedures.
"Alright. The baby will be under our observation for one day. If no other problem crops up, we will send
her to you after she's bathed tomorrow morning." With that, the doctor left.
Right after the doctor left the room, Marie asked, "Lucille, have you decided on the name of the child?"
"Well..."
"What's the name? What's the name?"
Abby was curious too.
"There's a possibility that she will grow up without a father in the future. She may have to encounter a
lot of unpleasant things because of that, but my wish is that she understands why I made those
decisions and does not blame me for it. Thus, I'd like to name her Aurora. Wishes come true if you
make them under an aurora."
Lucille had all this in mind since long ago.
She knew that it might bring a lot of inconveniences to her child as she was born to a single mother.
"Aurora? Wow, Lucille, you're something else. You came up with such a nice name!" To Abby, it was an
adorable name, one which fit Lucille's style.
"Yes, it's a good name," Marie agreed.
After three days, Lucille had not yet been discharged from the hospital. Marvin and Alma, who had
somehow gotten wind of the situation, appeared at the hospital with bags in their hands.
"Dad, why are you here?"
When they arrived, only Lucille was in the ward. The nurse had just taken Aurora for a bath.
"Lucille, are you kidding me? How could you not inform your own father that you've given birth?"
Marvin put down the supplements in his hand and couldn't help but grumble.
According to Natasha, Lucille had gotten rid of the baby, but not long after, she said that Lucille had
given birth to a child. Marvin thought that Natasha was mistaken, but after some inquiries, he found out
that it was true.
"Dad, I'm fine. You can go."
Lucille was very glad that Aurora wasn't there at the moment. If Alma saw her cleft lip, who knew what
she would say.
Hearing Lucille shooing them away, Alma acted unsurprised. She whined to Marvin, "Didn't I tell you?
She doesn't welcome us, yet you insist on coming over to get the cold shoulder."
"She's my daughter! No matter what, I have to visit her after she's just given birth." Marvin was angry
upon hearing her complaints.
Alma had also been complaining along the way to the hospital, which doubly irritated him.
"Your daughter, so what if she's your daughter? She cheated on her husband and got pregnant with an
illegitimate child. Like father, like daughter," Alma retorted.
"What are you talking about? Shut up!" Marvin berated.
"Am I wrong? Didn't she give birth to a b*stard? Do you know who the father of the baby is?"
When he got riled up, Alma did too, and the two of them began quarreling in the ward.
"Dad, forget it..."
Lucille had not had a good rest as she had to stay up at night to feed Aurora. When Alma and Marvin
began quarreling in the ward, she felt a headache coming on.
"Where's the baby? Didn't you give birth to one?"
After Alma was done quibbling with Marvin, she finally remembered her real purpose in coming here.
Since she was here, she had to see what the child looked like and who she resembled.
