Chapter 304
Chapter 304
"Met before? Hey miss, why do you think I look familiar? Could it be that we are fated to meet each
other?"
Finley mused, going with the flow. When Coralie said that he looked familiar, Finley began teasing her.
Jasper's head started to ache. If he was not doing it for Valerie, he would have told Finley to get lost a
long time ago!
"I must have been mistaken!" Coralie denied.
Hearing the rascal's words, Coralie wanted to end their conversation as quickly as possible.
"You can't have been mistaken!" Finley said.
Finley's attitude was volatile. Upon knowing that Coralie was Jasper's sister, his demeanor changed.
Knowing that he looked familiar to her, his attitude performed a full 180 once again.
"President Zac, I have to go now. I'll let you handle things here. If this employee remains here, even if it
is a small company, it will bring shame to the reputation of the Zac family."
Coralie's words were very polite but they hinted strongly at Jasper to fire Finley.
Coralie was not on very good terms with Jasper, therefore, she could only hint at him. Jasper might
even not listen to her.
After that, Coralie left.
Coralie went back to the company and went over the report carefully. After sending it to Lisa, she
rushed to the rehabilitation center where Skylar was without wasting another second.
The place was very far from the city, and was inaccessible by public transport. Hence, Coralie had to
take a taxi.
After changing cabs thrice, she finally found a driver who was willing to bring her all the way to the
center. Despite being asked to pay more than usual, Coralie couldn't care less. After negotiating the
fare with the driver, she got in the cab and headed for the mountains.
On the way there, Coralie pondered on the incident involving Finley. The more she dwelled on it, the
more she felt that Finley looked familiar.
Coralie had definitely seen him before, but it was probably a long time ago.
However, Coralie also felt that she had seen too many people over the years. Perhaps, Finley was just
a passer-by. She gave up after a while, unable to recall who he was.
......
The trip took more than two hours, and she finally arrived at the rehabilitation center that Valerie told
her about.
After the driver left, Coralie stood at the gates and shouted, "Is anyone there?"
It was already eight o'clock in the evening and it was almost dark. Coralie stood there and looked at the
empty rehabilitation center. Trees were overgrown near the entrance, blocking the pathway leading up
to the main entrance of the rehabilitation center.
From where she stood, Coralie could see a two-storey building. However, the lights were turned off.
"It's empty? It can't be..."
Coralie's first thought was that she was deceived by Valerie.
She never questioned it initially as she personally saw Valerie forward the details to her without even
checking it beforehand. If Valerie was to lie to her, she would have at least given it a passing glance.
"Is anyone there?"
Coralie shouted desperately.
After a while, there was still no reply. Coralie looked up at the tall walls surrounding the rehabilitation
center. She thought of scaling the walls but immediately shook the idea off.
It was winter, and she was wearing only a down jacket. Although her coat was very thick, it wouldn't
keep her warm for long.
Coralie stood there for over an hour before she saw a beam coming from a flashlight.
"Hello!"
Coralie shouted loudly.
At her call, the beam turned and shone in her direction, indicating that the person holding the flashlight
heard her voice.
Coralie felt grateful for the fortunate turn of events. In such a remote place, it would be difficult for her
to even get home if the center turned out to be deserted.
Soon, Coralie saw a young nurse heading towards her with a flashlight
The nurse said as soon as she saw Coralie, "We don't welcome outsiders here. You should leave."
She was the nurse who let Valerie in previously. After Valerie was sent away, she was scolded by the
dean. This time around, she had learned her lesson. She would not repeat her mistake and let Coralie
in.
"May I ask if Skylar Holland is here?"
Even after the nurse said they would not receive outsiders, Coralie still asked.
When the nurse heard Coralie ask about Skylar, her expression soured instantly. "He's not here!"
Judging by her reaction, Coralie knew that Skylar was definitely there. She said in a friendly manner,
"I'm here to visit him. Can I come in?"
"No!" The nurse said, "I let a woman into the hospital the other day, and I was almost fired by the
dean!"
Hearing the nurse's words, Coralie knew that the person must be Valerie!
"Let me in. I came alone with nothing on me. I don't even have a mode of transport. Look, it's going to
snow soon. If I go back like this, I'll freeze to death."
Since Coralie couldn't break through with force, she had to take another initiative.
As Coralie spoke, she shivered nonstop in the cold. Her whole body was numb, particularly her feet. If
she had not been stomping her feet, she would have lost sensation in them long ago.
The nurse looked around and saw that there was indeed nothing on the road behind Coralie.
She then looked at the sky, which was so dark that neither the moon nor the stars could be seen. It was
a cloudy night.
Coralie knew that the nurse was hesitating, so she continued, "If you let me in, I promise not to cause
you any trouble."
"But ..." The nurse still hesitated.
"I really can't go back like this."
Coralie stood there, speaking in a friendly tone. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
The nurse gave it some thought and said, "Forget it. Wait here. I'll go in and ask."
This time, the nurse did not dare make any rash promises.
She turned around and went into the rehabilitation center.
Coralie waited patiently outside. About half an hour later, when she was about to freeze and become a
popsicle, the nurse reappeared.
She was holding the key, but she was not in a hurry to unlock the gates. Instead, she said to Coralie,
"You can stay the night, but only in another building. You are not allowed to have any contact with
President Holland and you must leave tomorrow. Is that okay?"
"No!" Coralie thought.
Of course not!
Coralie came all the way to see Skylar but she knew she would not be able get in if she did not agree.
Coralie simply said, "Sure. Thank you very much."
Seeing as Coralie had agreed, the nurse let her in.
On the way in, the nurse complained, "Alas, don't blame us. The last time a woman came visiting
President Holland, she claimed that his mother sent her. In the end, she ran to President Holland's
room in the middle of the night, naked. It made him very angry. We were all reprimanded harshly."
"Oh, I see..."
Coralie did not know how to respond.
Coralie felt bad that she had to lie to the nurse.
Arriving at a junction, Coralie saw a sign pointing to the right, indicating: rehabilitation center.
The sign to the left read: accommodation area.
The nurse took Coralie to the left.
"Is Skylar on the right?"
Coralie saw that the two-storey building she saw earlier looming to the right. Although the lights on the
first floor were turned off, several lights on the ground floor were still on.
"Yes, but you must not even think about seeing President Holland. If President Holland finds out that
we've let people in, I'll definitely be fired!"
The nurse reminded Coralie again and again.
"Well... I won't let him fire you. Don't worry."
As Coralie spoke, she turned abruptly and ran to the right. She couldn't wait to see Skylar!
