Chapter 294
Chapter 294
"I don't know. I don't know what happened either," Coralie said and shook her head. "I'll go first. Let's
keep in touch."
Coralie waved her hand and left after.
She had a slight fever so she was not in a good state. She could not stay too long outside since it was
cold.
......
The next day.
After taking the medicine for a day, Coralie's body temperature was under control, but it was still above
37 degrees.
However, she did not say anything. Instead, she applied makeup to enhance her complexion. Then,
she took Hendric, Hera, and Wayne to visit her father's grave.
The four of them took a taxi to the cemetery.
Every year, Hera would come here twice to visit her husband and clean his tomb.
"Hendric, your grandfather is sleeping here."
Hera pulled Hendric over and said.
"Why is Grandpa sleeping here? Isn't he cold?"
Hendric asked out of curiosity. It was November now. He only knew that it would be cold to sleep
outside, but he had no concept of life and death.
"Hendric, your grandfather has passed away. His soul has gone to another world, but his body is here,
so he is not cold."
Coralie half knelt and explained to Hendric.
"Oh, I see." Hendric nodded and replied despite not having a full understanding of it. Then he asked,
"Does he know we are here to see him?"
"He knows. He can even hear you speak," Coralie answered him.
"Really?" Hendric stood in front of the tombstone and said politely, "Hello, Grandpa. I am Hendric
Holland. I'm here to see you today with my mother, uncle, and grandmother."
Wayne said with a smile, "Hendric Holland? Is that your name?"
"It was Skylar's idea."
Coralie smiled but there was a streak of sadness in it.
Jayson once told her that Skylar had registered Hendric and he had given him this name.
"Ah... To be honest, if that d*mned driver didn't escape that time, Dad wouldn't have died!"
Wayne stood in front of the tomb and suddenly spoke.
When he talked about the incident that year, Coralie and Hera lapsed into silence.
When the driver hit Hendrick, he didn't die right at the scene. However, it was late at night in a remote
place where no one could have noticed him, and it led to Hendrick's death.
Although there were no security cameras at the scene where he was hit, there was one at the end of
the road. The police quickly narrowed it down to the several cars passing by during that period.
However, the person turned himself in before the police could confirm the car which caused the
accident. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
Wayne went on to say, "How many years did that b*stard get sentenced to?"
"Ten years."
Coralie said.
At this point, everyone seemed to realize something.
This year was the tenth anniversary of Hendrick's death and that person had been sentenced to ten
years in jail. It meant that the perpetrator would be released this year.
"That's to say the b*stard will be released this year? That's sick! He was sentenced to only ten years in
jail while our father's dead?"
Wayne was furious!
"Wayne, let bygones be bygones," Hera said.
Since the driver had turned himself in, he had received his punishment and had also compensated
them money for the damage. This matter was over a long time ago.
Hera couldn't let her family live in the shadow of that incident forever.
"Yeah... Coralie is back now. It's a good thing that we are reunited again. I wish for nothing more but
peace in our family in the future," Hera said.
She had let go of the past too.
"I'll be with Mommy forever," Hendric added.
He stood aside and listened to their conversation. Although he couldn't get his head around their
words, he still said something.
"Yes. Hendric's my good boy."
Coralie bent down with a smile and picked Hendric up.
After that, since it was the weekend, Wayne offered to treat them to a meal to celebrate Coralie's
homecoming.
He booked a restaurant which specialized in roast duck. The roast duck was crispy and tender but not
spicy; it was suitable for Hendric.
The four of them sat at a table in the restaurant and ordered a large plate of roast duck.
Hendric did find the meat appealing. Coralie rolled the roast duck together with the pancakes and fed
them one by one to Hendric.
When she was about to give another roll of pancake to Hendric, she lifted her head and found that two
people passing by were staring at her with unblinking eyes. She looked up and happened to meet their
eyes.
It was Lillian Ford and Valerie Rae...
Lillian had an unusual expression when she saw Coralie, but she soon pulled Valerie away and went
inside.
Coralie did not think much about it.
She felt that she didn't have any conflicts with Lillian before. It was just a coincidence for her to meet
Lilian here.
Unexpectedly, Lillian seemed to have figured it out after a while. She pulled Valerie back, walked to
Coralie's table and said, "Coralie, you're still alive."
Her fashion preferences were still the same. She was wearing an eye-catching red mink coat.
"Yes."
Coralie said while feeding Hendric. She didn't even look at her.
Lillian had never seen Hendric before, but Valerie had. She knew Hendric was Skylar's son, but she
never mentioned it.
"Where did you come from? It seems that you're living a good life. What a good thing. Don't disturb my
son anymore."
Lillian felt relieved when she saw that their family was living a good life now.
"We were just back from visiting my father's grave," she replied curtly.
Coralie wouldn't mention anything about their relationship before she found out why Skylar refused her,
so she only answered Lillian's first question.
Valerie, who was standing behind, was terrified when she heard that Coralie was just back from her
father's grave.
All of a sudden, she relapsed into that dreadful past!
"I, I'll wait for you in the room!"
Valerie dashed away after she said it.
Coralie looked up at Valerie, not knowing why she suddenly reacted like this.
However, seeing that Valerie had left, Lillian felt that with her noble status, she would ridicule herself
talking to normal people like Coralie and her family. Then she said, "My son has cut all ties with you
now. Know your place, or I won't let you get away with it."
After Lillian finished speaking, she turned around and left.
"Coralie."
"Coralie!"
Hearing Lillian's words just now, Hera and Wayne finally realized how Coralie had been treated ever
since she got married to Skylar.
With such a mother-in-law, she could not possibly be happy in the Holland family!
"Alright, it's my own business. Don't worry about it. I know what to do," Coralie told them.
After that, she lowered her head and continued eating.
She didn't intend to tell her family how Lillian had treated her, but she didn't expect to meet her today.
"Coralie, I can still support you and Hendric even if you don't get married. Don't worry!"
Wayne took his stand first.
"No, no, you'd better find me a sister-in-law as soon as possible to make me feel at ease."
Although Coralie felt a little dismayed, she still smiled and joked with Wayne.
......
On the other side, Lillian was very dissatisfied with Valerie who left her behind. She trotted to the room
and saw Valerie sitting on a chair. Her head was lowered and she didn't say a word.
"You're not afraid of that Coralie, are you? What's there to be afraid of? Why did you think I asked you
out today? I want to create an opportunity for you and my son!"
Lillian flashed a proud face at Valerie.
She was the only one in the Holland family who knew about Skylar's accident. Although she
accidentally found out about it, she also understood that what Skylar needed the most at this time was
some support.
