Chapter 289
Chapter 289
"Let me ask him," said Lenora.
"I appreciate that Lenora," the receptionist said.
Coralie didn't actually want to trouble Lenora, but she had her back against the wall. This was the only
way for her to see Skylar.
After Lenora went up, Coralie waited for her at the ground floor.
The receptionist looked at Coralie and said, "You didn't lie when you said you know President Holland.
Are you really his ex-wife?"
"Yes," Coralie replied.
Coralie was regretting it. If she knew Lenora would be here, she would definitely refrain from
mentioning that she was his ex-wife.
"That was unexpected. President Holland had a marriage before."
The receptionist wasn't clear about Coralie's background.
However, she could see that the person who was able to marry Skylar must be a noble lady of a great
family. She did not dare to offend nor ignore her.
After a while, Lenora came down. She stood inside and called out to Coralie, "Coralie, I'm sorry. I can't
let you in. I just went to ask Assistant Lowell. President Holland doesn't want to see you."
D*mn!
Did he go full throttle on this just to not see her?
When had she been this influential?
However, after this time, how long would it take for her to see Skylar again? Seeing that Lenora was
about to enter, Coralie quickly stopped her and said, "Lenora, please tell President Holland, or even
Assistant Lowell that I'll wait for him outside? I won't leave until I meet him."
The firm look in Coralie's eyes when she spoke showed her determination.
Lenora sighed helplessly and said, "Coralie, I may not know what happened between you and
President Holland, but you both should settle it peacefully and leave good memories for each other."
Lenora had more or less heard about the incident between Coralie and Skylar.
She thought that Skylar wanted to break up with her, so she came to find him because she was
unhappy with it.
"Yes, I know, I only wanted to see him for a second. I'll stop pestering him in the future."
Coralie said with certainty.
Since Lenora had a good impression of Coralie because of the incident at the annual conference, she
nodded and said, "Okay."
Lenora took the elevator to the top floor.
Skylar was occupied, and there were a few managers and deputy general managers inside reporting
their progress to him, while Dominic and Jayson were talking outside. Since Skylar had not appeared
for a long time, there were a lot of people waiting to report their progress to him today.
When Jayson saw Lenora coming back, he knew that she probably had settled Coralie so he called her
over and asked, "Did you tell her? Did she leave?"
"No, she said she won't leave until she sees President Holland." Lenora sighed softly and added, "I
don't want to meddle in this. Please go in and tell President Holland."
Lenora was well into her forties. She knew that she had no way of judging anything when she did not
know what had happened between Coralie and Skylar. She could only pass them her words and left.
Jayson took some time discussing with Dominic. He didn't go into Skylar's office until everyone in the
office had left.
Skylar was writing something on the table when Jayson went in and said, "President Holland, Lenora
just told me..."
"What?" He interrupted him directly.
"She told me Coralie is downstairs, and she won't leave until she sees you."
Lenora was a long-serving staff member of Skyton Corporation and also the host of the annual
conference. Skylar would know her.
Jayson's words caused Skylar's thick eyebrows to knit together. A long time passed without him saying
anything.
He sat there, motionless, and the atmosphere in the office was quiet and oppressive.
Jayson stood on the side tremulously without asking for Skylar's opinion.
After a while, Skylar said, "Let her wait."
"President Holland, it's cold today. The weather forecast said that it might snow today."
In fact, Jayson sided with Coralie. He believed in Coralie and thought that Skylar should tell Coralie the
truth.
"That's her business. Is she going to block traffic?"
Skylar was determined not to see Coralie.
"President Holland..."
"Is Dominic waiting outside? Let him in."
Skylar knew that Jayson was going to persuade him again. Jayson had been advising him for a long
time recently, so this time Skylar interrupted him before he could finish his words.
When Jayson saw that Skylar wasn't going to listen anymore, he had no choice but to stop trying and
called Dominic in.
......
Coralie waited outside alone.
She was uncertain whether Lenora would have succeeded in passing her message to Skylar. Lenora
alone wasn't enough if Jayson didn't speak on Coralie's behalf. Skylar wouldn't listen to it.
However, Coralie had to wager on it.
She stood there until the clock showed 6pm.
The workers in Skyton Corporation had all clocked out while Coralie was still standing at the door. This
time, no one drove her away. Outside, it had been raining since the afternoon.
Coralie continued standing there until 8 o'clock. The security guards changed shifts, so when the new
one came, he had no idea what had happened. When he saw Coralie standing in the hall, he
immediately came over and chased her away. "You should leave! Why are you standing here after
work?"
"I'm sorry, but I'm waiting for someone."
Coralie spoke politely to the security guard.
"Then go out and wait. The person you're waiting for is probably gone. The staff in Skyton Corporation
are not allowed to work overtime without special circumstances. You should know better," the guard
said.
Coralie did know that.
The security guard drove her away because the lobby was too cold, and all he wanted to do was to
hide and rest, but he couldn't leave Coralie alone.
Coralie didn't know how long she would have to wait, so she had no choice but to go outside.
However, when she went outside, she found that it was not just the usual rain. It was freezing rain.
The freezing rain was a common phenomenon in the early winter.
Because the surface of the road was frozen, traffic was congested, and the sound of cars honking was Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
deafeningly loud.
Coralie stood in the frosty rain and continued waiting for Skylar.
She looked up and saw that the lights on the top floor of Skyton Corporation were still on, indicating
that Skylar had yet to leave.
"Achoo!"
It was frigid outside. Coralie couldn't help sneezing.
Her body was also shivering intensely.
This reminded her of the night a few years ago when it was raining heavily and she couldn't get into
Skyton Corporation too. She waited for Skylar like this.
Back then, she did meet Skylar at last, but this time around... it was hard to say.
The rain outside was getting heavier and Coralie was only wearing a windbreaker. Although she was
not standing under the eaves, she was drenched, and her weak body was trembling uncontrollably.
Since Coralie had decided to see Skylar, she had to wait even if it meant waiting until the following
morning.
After a while, Coralie went out and found that the lights on the top floor had been turned off.
"Did Skylar leave already?"
Coralie did not give up. Since she had promised to leave only after she met him, she would keep her
word.
It was already eleven o'clock.
The sky was completely dark now, and the temperature fell tremendously. When Coralie was almost
numb from the cold, a man came out from the dim lobby of Skyton Corporation.
The man walked over from the elevator, straight to Coralie. He stood behind the shivering Coralie and
said, "Miss Chariott, President Holland asked you to go in."
Coralie turned her head and found that the person standing behind her was Jayson.
