Chapter 260
Chapter 260
Yohan took Coralie back to A Country.
It was another 10-hour journey.
The flight took off at midnight and they arrived at A City in the morning. Coralie immediately rushed to
the hospital after contacting Wayne.
When Coralie entered the hospital, she saw Wayne wearing a long-sleeved shirt with a pair of casual
pants. He had changed so much.
"Wayne!"
Coralie ran forward.
She had not seen Wayne for more than three years.
"Coralie."
Wayne recognized Coralie at a glance although they had not met each other for ages. During this
period of time when Coralie had been staying with Yohan, besides attending various etiquette classes,
she also joined beauty lessons.
Lydia had always let her beautician do facial treatments for Coralie every time the beautician finished
Lydia's. After countless sessions, Coralie's rough skin had returned back to normal.
"How's Mom?" asked Coralie worriedly.
"She is in the ward now. The doctor suggested to do a bypass surgery for her," Wayne explained.
He swallowed his saliva before he added, "But it will take a few days of preparation."
At this moment, Yohan who was walking forward slowly from behind came into his line of vision.
Wayne's face fell at once.
After all, from his point of view, Coralie's decision to leave home previously was because of Yohan!
"Ok, let's do it. I have some money."
In the past year, Coralie had been living at S City. She was given her living expenses monthly. As she
had nowhere to spend, she managed to save up quite a decent amount of money.
Although she did not like living under someone else's house, she had no other choice.
Soon, they got to the door of the ward.
"Yohan, would you please wait for me outside? I'll go in and inform my mother first."
Coralie hadn't seen Hera for years.
She had no idea how Hera would react when they met later. For the sake of Hera, Coralie had to make
this request to Yohan.
"Ok."
After Yohan nodded, Coralie went in with Wayne.
In the ward, Hera was sleeping.
When Coralie walked close to Hera's bed, she realized that Hera had aged a lot since they last met.
Hera's hair was completely grey and her wrinkles had grown much deeper too.
"Mom, I'm sorry." Coralie stood in front of Hera's bed, half-squatted. She held Hera's hand and cried, "I
didn't fulfill my responsibility as a daughter and a sister. I lied to you and made you all worried. I feel so
bad to see you in this state now that I am bad. I am so sorry, Mom."
Coralie felt that she was a complete failure.
Fortunately, Hera was only in a coma. Coralie would definitely live in guilt for the rest of her life if she
did not get to see Hera alive.
"Coralie, it's also my fault. I've been busy with my work recently. Mom has had chest pain for a few
times but she dared not tell me about it."
Wayne also teared up when he saw Coralie cry. Regardless, he took the blame on himself.
"Coralie, you're back."
As she was just taking an afternoon nap, Hera woke up after hearing Coralie's voice.
She opened her eyes slightly and saw Coralie, who was next to her. Her silky long hair was nicely
braided. She was wearing a turquoise blue long dress. Hera was pleased to see Coralie who looked
exactly the same as years ago.
"Mom, I'm sorry. I should have come earlier."
Coralie quickly stood up when she heard Hera's voice.
"No, don't be. As long as you're still alive, it's the best news to me." Hera caressed Coralie's face, a
smile spread across her wrinkled face. "Yes, this is my daughter, Coralie."
"Mom, it's me, it's really me." Coralie grabbed Hera's hand which was on her cheek.
Hera turned around as she asked, "Where is Skylar? I haven't seen Hendric for so long. I miss him a
lot."
Only Wayne knew that Coralie and Yohan were living together. No one told this to Hera though.
Hera asked this question as she thought that Coralie and Skylar were still seeing each other.
"No," Coralie replied. She was afraid that Yohan would hear their conversation, therefore she quickly
added, "Mom, I am with Yohan now. He is outside."
She nervously peeped at Hera and shook her head, afraid that Hera would mention Skylar again.
Coralie knew that Yohan's mental state was not as stable at this moment. Anything about Skylar would
especially agitate him greatly.
"He..."
Hearing Yohan's name, Hera frowned.
"Mom, he has been taking care of me over the past year. He is also very good to me, really."
Coralie put in good words for Yohan; this was the only thing she could do. She knew that she was
going to live with Yohan for a long time. Besides, she hoped that Hera could be at ease, too.
"Well, I am glad that he is good to you." NôvelDrama.Org © content.
Hera was also a sensible person. How could she not know that Coralie liked Skylar?
However, since Coralie deliberately mentioned Yohan, Hera decided not to ask further questions.
Coralie talked with Hera for a while before she brought Yohan in. The four of them had a chat together.
After that, they called the doctor over to understand more about the operation.
They agreed that the operation would be carried out three days later.
At this moment, Yohan suggested, "Why don't we transfer Auntie Hera to another hospital?"
Of course, he meant Sacred Heart Hospital.
"I think there's no need for that. My Mum is old. Transferring to another hospital would be troublesome
and tiring for her."
Coralie shook her head.
The doctor was still with them at that moment. After hearing that Yohan wanted to transfer Hera to
Sacred Heart Hospital, he quickly chimed in, "It's ok if she doesn't want to go there. We can let the
doctors from Sacred Heart Hospital perform the surgery here. The facilities in our hospital are also
equally advanced."
"That could work too."
Coralie reckoned that this could be a better idea.
After all, given Hera's advanced age, the risk of surgery was relatively high. It would be best if she was
under an experienced surgeon to perform the surgery.
......
Three days later, Hera's operation was conducted by a doctor from Sacred Heart Hospital after Yohan
pulled some strings. The operation began in the morning.
Coralie had been waiting outside. She did not have any appetite at all and Yohan had been
accompanying her.
After six hours, the lights in the operating room were off, signifying the end of the operation. When the
doctors came out of the room, Coralie hurriedly rushed forward and inquired, "Doctor, how did the
operation go?"
"It was a success."
The surgeon beamed.
Hearing that answer, Coralie heaved out a long sigh of relief.
When Hera was wheeled back to the ward, there were lots of machines and devices attached to her.
According to the doctor, Hera would become awake after a day.
However, after three days, Hera was still in a coma.
In the first two days, when Coralie went to the doctors, they would always reassure her, telling her that
Hera was showing a completely normal reaction as every patient was different.
However, when she went to see the doctor again on the fourth day, they couldn't tell the same reason
again.
After all, being in a coma for four days after such an operation was just too long.
After they reviewed the recording of the surgery, they were sure that everything did go well. However,
why was Hera not awake yet?
To ensure that there was no accident, the hospital performed a CT scan for Hera. They made sure that
she did not have a stroke or an intracranial bleed.
They reached a conclusion that Hera was just in a coma; there were no other causes for her current
presentation.
Coralie had been accompanying Hera in the hospital. That night, she went to the cafeteria at the
hospital for dinner. When she went back to the ward, she saw a few more people in the room.
"If she doesn't wake up today, you don't get to live too."
It was Yohan's voice.
Coralie stood by the door. She saw that Yohan brought four bodyguards with him. They were pushing
on the surgeon who performed the surgery.
The doctor stood by the door, trembling in fear while holding the CT brain image, looking terrified.
