Wooing My Ex-Wife

Chapter 781

Chapter 781

Cedrick paid no heed to her words. With an icy look in his eyes, he demanded, “Where’s Gwendolyn?”

His words stunned the woman and caused her expression to grow increasingly awkward.

“Hubby, what are you talking about? I’m Gwendolyn, your wife.”

Cedrick got to his feet and stormed forward. Looking down at her, he repeated patiently, “I’m asking you where Gwendolyn is?”

As the woman continued to feign ignorance, she lowered her eyes in an attempt to avoid his gaze.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re behaving strangely. I’m leaving this place.” NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

Just as she attempted to get up, Cedrick grabbed her by the neck and pinned her back down.

In close proximity, the murderous intent in his bloodshot eyes was unmistakable. They looked more terrifying than the torture equipment fastened against the wall.

“I’m a patient man. If I don’t get the answer that I’m looking for, you’ll suffer a fate worse than death.”

Cedrick would show no mercy to such a despicable woman.

Suffocating from the overwhelming pressure he exuded, the woman struggled desperately to pry open his grip over her neck. Unfortunately, it was nothing but a futile effort.

“W-When did you see through the charade?” As the woman eked out the words, her neck was hurting so badly that tears had begun to flow.

As the way she grimaced looked exactly like Gwendolyn, Cedrick released his grip subconsciously, allowing her to collapse onto the ground.

Turning around with his hands behind his back to avoid looking at her face—which unsettled him—he replied, “My suspicions started the day I rescued you from Quawak.”

The answer shocked the woman. “How? I look exactly like her. Our voices might be a little different, but I pretended to have lost my voice the entire time.”

For the sake of her mission, she had learned Gwendolyn’s poise and facial expressions. Even the most minute of details didn’t escape her notice. Yet, she was exposed on the very first day Cedrick saw her.

Averting his gaze from her, Cedrick replied calmly, “She has been wearing a ring on her left ring finger for the last five years, as it couldn’t be removed. Even if one were to forcefully cut it off, there would still be a residual mark left on her finger.

Jolted by the explanation, the woman stroked her left hand.

“In order to verify your identity, I used Benny’s and Zendy’s hair to run a DNA test with yours. I did it in ten different military hospitals to prevent any interference with the process. In the end, the results were all consistent with each other.”

While speaking, Cedrick walked to the desk in the corner to retrieve the DNA test report and threw it at the woman. “Take a look yourself.”

As the white piece of document fell onto the ground, the woman knew what the conclusion was without even looking.

“You were the one in the backseat of Gwenny’s car when the accident at Orchidbay Tunnel occurred, weren’t you?”

“You were the one in the backseat of Gwenny’s car when the accident at Orchidbay Tunnel occurred, weren’t you?”

Surprised that Cedrick had managed to guess even that, the woman caught her breath.

“You had gotten close to Gwenny on purpose, while Joe was responsible for the accident in the tunnel. His goal was to capture Gwenny. In order to avoid colliding with the lorry, Gwenny swerved her car into the valley and is now nowhere to be found. In the meantime, Joe had you take her place, so what is your true goal?”

Cedrick subsequently turned around and bent forward to grab the woman by her chin. Thereafter, he examined her face closely.

“It’s clear from the impeccable plastic surgery that you’ve put a lot of effort into this, so I’m sure you know his plans very well. If you cooperate with me, I’ll consider letting you go.”

However, a snigger was immediately heard from the woman. She laughed so hard that tears started to come out.

Even if Cedrick was willing to release her, her boss would never grant her the same mercy.

“Mr. Jenson, I’m not sure if the Joe you mentioned is the same person who put me up to this, but I really know nothing about him, as I’m only in this for the money. I simply do what he tells me to.”

“In that case, what was it that he told you to do?”

The woman was shocked. “He asked me to get close to Gwendolyn… Once that was accomplished, he ordered his men to keep me in a tree hollow in the mountains. He told me that I’ll be your wife going forward and have all the power and money that comes along with the position.”

As Cedrick grabbed her chin, the weightiness of his tone intensified. “I want you to tell me exactly how you were supposed to get close to her and succeeded. Gwenny isn’t a fool. If she were to see that you looked like her, she would definitely not have allowed you to get into her car just like that. Also, you

have spent a lot of time with the children over the last few days. Did Joe order you to do that too? Is his plan for you to get close to the children and kidnap them?”

Toward the end of his sentence, Cedrick tightened his grip on her. With hatred burning in his eyes, the suppressed rage within him was unmistakable in his voice.

Meanwhile, the woman grimaced in pain. She felt as if he was about to crush her chin.

Resisting the pressure Cedrick exerted, she shook her head. “I’m sorry, Mr. Jenson. There’s a lot that I can’t remember. I really don’t know anything, as I’m beholden to someone else too. So please, let me go.”

Surprisingly, Cedrick smiled instead of reacting angrily. Upon loosening his grip on her chin, he gave his sleeves a tug.

Once he straightened his back, the murderous look in his eyes couldn’t be any more obvious. “Your memory will soon return. I’m sure you know the details of everything that happened better than anyone else. Since you refuse to cooperate when I’m being nice, I’ll have to try some other method instead.”

The woman trembled in fear upon hearing his words.

Grabbing my chin and speaking in such a tone just now was considered playing good cop? So what happens when he plays bad cop?

Half an hour ago, she was still plotting to sleep with him after lusting over his stunning figure, but now, all she wanted was to get as far away as possible from the terrifying Cedrick.

Without another word, Cedrick turned around and left the cell.

A minute later, the door opened again and in walked three men.

The woman recognized one of them to be Swain.

Rolling up his sleeves, he exuded an aura so ferocious that the woman scrambled back into a corner.

Unable to escape, she asked, “What are you trying to do? You…”

Outside the cell, Cedrick was cleaning his hands with a towel and disinfectant after touching the woman’s hand. He wiped them twice to make sure they were thoroughly cleaned.

He then leaned against the wall and retrieved a pack of cigarettes from his pocket. Upon opening it, he saw that there was only one cigarette left inside.

Given that Gwendolyn was not around to monitor him, he had gone through the entire pack indiscriminately.

With a gloomy look in his eyes, he picked up the last cigarette and lit it before smoking in the dark tunnel.

Given that the secret prison was located deep in the woods, one could only hear the leaves rustling in the wind amid the quiet surroundings.

Every cell in the secret prison was soundproofed with the best materials. Even if Cedrick had his ear to the door, he wouldn’t be able to hear the woman’s screams from inside.

The door finally opened ten minutes later.

Swain emerged and reported respectfully, “Boss, it’s done. She’s willing to tell you everything.”

“Well done,” Cedrick responded indifferently.

Although he was giving a compliment, it didn’t sound like that at all.

Having just finished his cigarette, Cedrick stubbed it out with the heel of his boots before entering the cell.

The woman was sprawled on the empty space in the center, panting heavily. Her slender fingers were trembling uncontrollably but there were no signs of blood on her dress which appeared to be untouched. There were also no visible bruises on her body.

Nevertheless, she was drenched in sweat and trembled all over the moment she saw Cedrick step in. The fact that she was in pain couldn’t be any more evident.

The interrogation techniques of Federal Bureau of Investigation had always been brutal and effective.

Upon taking his seat a second time, Cedrick stated calmly. “This is your last chance. Now, speak.”
