Chapter 45
Chapter 45
“Jason is Jason, and Jace is Jace,” said Penelope as she took Anastasia into the house.
Penelope took several photos out from an old metal tin box and pointed to the boy in them, and said, “This is my Jace.”
Anastasia stumbled along numbly and took a long time to step forward to look at the boy in the photo.
The child looked cloddish, wearing old and dirty clothes with mud on his face. He looked ridiculous but was happy.
The background of the photo was a garden of a manor. It looked magnificent, with flowers that looked even more beautiful than the ones in the park.
Boys usually changed a lot as they grew. Anastasia couldn’t tell whether the child in the photo was Jace, let alone if he was Jason now
“Grandma Penelope, why do you say that Jason is not Jace? But he…” stammered Anastasia, feeling a little confused
Looking carefully at the boy in the photo, Anastasia could still faintly see the beauty mark below the left corner of the child’s eye.
Jason had the same beauty mark. “Grandma Penelope, Jason is Jace, right?” Anastasia asked again.
But Penelope still shook her head and insisted, Jace is my Jace, and Jason is Jason.”
Anastasia didn’t continue asking Penelope because the latter had developed Alzheimer’s six years ago and couldn’t remember many things.
Over the years, Anastasia hadn’t summoned up the courage to ask about Jace in front of Penelope. She was also afraid that it would trigger Penelope.
“Grandma Penelope, there are 200 thousand dollars in this card. When Jace comes back, please give it to him for me,” said Anastasia as she put the bank card in the most conspicuous place. She had collected the money by selling off the few pieces of jewelry she had, plus the bag she had bought while at Atharia.
Whether Jason was Jace or not, she couldn’t see him again anytime in the future.
Anastasia was clear about Alastor’s capability.
If she pissed him off, there would be no end to it.
She couldn’t drag Jason down with her.
She was ready for a protracted dispute with Alastor and Felicia.
“Jace won’t come back anymore…” mumbled Grandma repeatedly as she held onto the photo. ‘My Jace can’t come back anymore. He is dead.”
Anastasia felt a sharp pain in her heart. She knew she shouldn’t listen to Penelope’s delirious words, but Anastasia could still feel her heartache when she heard it.
Jace… wouldn’t die.
“Grandma Penelope, when Jason comes back, can you give this card to him?” asked Anastasia again. “And pass him this
letter.”
She had asked Jason to leave Hork with his grandmother.
If possible, he should never come back here again.
Then Anastasia went to the Lopez residence. She tried to compose herself as she walked into the living room and called out, “Grandma Andrea”
Alastor had already arrived. He cared more than anyone else about his grandmother. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Anastasia knew that Alastor’s mother had only a small hand in raising him and had even caused him quite a bit of childhood trauma. Alastor spent all his childhood with his grandparents, so he cared very much about Andrea’s health.
That was why Alastor wanted to force her to sign the divorce agreement first and get the divorce certificate only after Andrea passed away.
Andrea wouldn’t be able to handle the shock of this matter.
“Annie, you’re here,” said Grandma as she sat on the sofa and smiled at Anastasia. “Alastor said that you had participated in an exhibition in Atharia,”
“That’s right,” said Anastasia as she walked over with a smile and sat beside Andrea.
“Alastor, you need to take care of your wife properly. Where can you find a good wife like Annie? You need to cherish her. Don’t become like your father and destroy your own life,” Andrea reminded Alastor as she let out a sigh.

Anastasia’s body stiffened. She lowered her head, and her smile froze.
“Like fathers like sons, they were truly related. Both had a first crush in their hearts but chose to deceive another person into marriage. After years of marriage, they tried every means to get a divorce for the sake of their first crush. It seems like it’s hereditary,” sneered Anastasia inwardly.
“I.. won’t do such a thing” Alastor lied. Maybe he felt guilty, so he lifted his head and looked at Anastasia.
Alastor wanted to warn Anastasia not to talk nonsense, but he realized that Anastasia wasn’t even looking at him.
She had her head quietly lowered, and no one knew what kind of thoughts she had in her mind.
Alastor’s heart tightened inexplicably. He frowned and looked away.
“Your mother was here earlier. She seemed happy that Annie was pregnant,” exclaimed Andrea, who was also very happy and grabbed Anastasia’s hand and refused to let go.
Alastor frowned and felt a little unhappy. “Don’t let her come and visit you in the future,” he said.
It was probably because of what Naomi had said that triggered Andrea and landed the latter in the hospital.
He had clearly warned Naomi not to tell Andrea about Anastasia’s
pregnancy
“Grandma Andrea… The baby…” Anastasia stammered. She felt guilty and wanted to say something but was hesitant.
Alastor didn’t want the baby, and her body wouldn’t allow her to give birth.
“The baby is doing good and will be born safely, interrupted Alastor. Perhaps Alastor was afraid Anastasia would shock Andrea, so he subconsciously cut off her words.
Anastasia frowned and looked at Alastor in disappointment.
No wonder as soon as she returned from abroad, he couldn’t wait and asked Felicia to bring Anastasia for an abortion.
He was afraid that it would be too late once Andrea found out about this, and he would have no choice but to keep the baby.
