When Love Turns Cold

CHAPTER 53

Ingrid felt a little unsettled and shook Hansel’s arm. “Dear, what’s wrong?”

He snapped out of his reverie and waved his hand. “It’s nothing. I’m fine now, so you can focus on your classes.

“You don’t need to come here every day anymore. There’ll be a lot going on at the office, so I’ll be busy these next few days and won’t have time to spend with you.”

Ingrid froze for a moment before nodding with a smile. “Okay, I understand.”

The smile on her face gradually disappeared the moment she stepped out of the mansion. Her heart sank in disappointment, and the look in her eyes turned gloomy. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

Just now, Hansel had clearly been preoccupied with something. He’d never been like this with her before.

After hesitating for a moment, she took out her phone and dialed Zach’s number. Among Hansel’s close friends, she only had Zach’s contact.

Ingrid plastered a smile on her face when the call was connected.” Zach, good evening. Has something happened at the hospital these past few days? I just left the mansion, and Hans seemed to be in a bad mood. Did Miranda upset him again?”

On the other end of the call, Zach had just successfully exchanged numbers with an attractive lady he’d met at the bar.

After listening to Ingrid’s question, he simply gave an offhanded reply in order to end the call quickly. “She didn’t visit him. She just made soup. for him twice.”

With that said, he hung up eagerly.

Ingrid gritted her teeth angrily. It was just as she’d thought. She put her phone away with a cold look.

Early the next morning, Ingrid went to the library and found Miranda, who was busy studying.

Ingrid said assertively, “Hansel is my boyfriend now. Since you two have already broken up, it’s better to have a clean break. Don’t do anything unnecessary and keep hanging around him!”

Miranda was still thinking about the previous problem she’d been struggling with.

She felt slightly amused after listening to Ingrid’s words, but she replied seriously, “Don’t worry. I won’t go back on my word, and I have no intention of competing with you.”

After Ingrid left, Miranda dismissed the unnecessary thoughts in her mind and continued doing practice papers. She finally left the library in the evening. Coincidentally, she ran into Solomon.

He’d been busy with classes these past two days and hadn’t had time to visit the library, so they hadn’t seen each other in a while. This was purely a chance meeting.

The last time Miranda had treated Solomon to a meal to thank him, the dinner had ended awkwardly because of Tina. She couldn’t help feeling bad about it.

So this time, she took the initiative to invite him again. “Since there was an incident last time, let me treat you to dinner. I’ll whip up at homemade meal for you again. Do you have the time?”

Solomon hadn’t expected her to bring it up again. He nodded enthusiastically. “Of course, I’d love to!” Her cooking was too good to

pass up!

Not far away, Hansel watched as the two of them walked away together, chatting merrily. He was so angry at the sight that his eyes. became bloodshot. His grip tightened on the steering wheel, his

knuckles turning white.

While complaining to him before, Evelyn had mentioned that she’d run

into Miranda in the library. On top of that, Winter had refused to

disclose Miranda’s current address.

So Hansel had had no choice but to try his luck at the library.

But what did he see after lying in wait for her the whole day? Miranda talking and laughing with another man. It wasn’t even the same person he’d seen at the restaurant before.

What was she trying to do? If she was trying to hook up with some random guy just to provoke him, she’d definitely succeeded!

Fuming, Hansel drove after them and followed them to an alley. The surrounding environment looked terrible.

There was moss growing on the walls with peeled–off paint, and the narrow passage of the alley exuded an oppressive feeling.

Hansel suddenly recalled Calvin had mentioned that Miranda’s new living conditions weren’t great the last time he’d been hospitalized. However, Hansel hadn’t expected it to be this terrible.

At that point, the car couldn’t go any further in. Hansel parked the car at the entrance of the alley and followed them on foot.

Miranda, who was walking up ahead, was completely unaware that someone was tailing her.
