Chapter 75: Marks

Chapter 75: Marks

Chapter seventy-three;

Marks

--

Morning, the hospital has many people than yesterday, althoug the place is not crowded, it was enough to make the place feel like not a place for dead people to wander around.

Among the patients in their hospital gowns, the nurses in their uniform, the visitors in their casual clothes, three people that were walking down the corridor especially stood out.

It was two men and a woman. The woman who was walking ahead of the other two, wore a white blouse and a grey pencil skirt. Drape over the long sleeve white blouse is a grey blazer. Her black leather heeled sandals were clicking on the titled floor as she walks.

The other two on the other hand, were wearing a three pieced suit, back and navy blue.

As the three passes through other people on the corridor, they can't help but take a second look and turn to stop. The three were well known businessmen and woman, so they can't help but wonder:

Who are they here for?

The question was not lef unanswered, the woman in front stopped in front of a door and was about to knock when it opened on its own.

The woman left her hand hanging on the air, she raised her brow towards the one who opened the door.

The lady who opened the door looked at her expressionlessly. She asked, "Is there something you need?"

The woman withdraw her hand and smiled at her, "Is Althea here?"

The other next to the door eyed he three warily. She smiled, completely knowing why she was on guard. Althea was shot yesterday aftr all.

"Oh, we are here to update her about what happened yesterday. Also, she knows us. We were classmates in college."

Becca raised an eyebrow. "Friends?"

Friends...?

April showed a difficult expression, "Well... no."

Becca nodded. "Okay. Just come inside, she's already awake."

April was shock about how easy it was. She smiled at Becca merrily. "Thank you."

She shrugged, "You are welcome, if you admitted that you were friends, i would have not let you enter."

The three were amused, Dave asked, "Why?"

Becca looked at him, "Because she never mentioned to us that she has college friends."

"..." Oh.

Becca then bid them goodbye, saying she has to go back to the shop because she has matters to take cae of. Despite not knowing what shop she meant, April wished her good luck and watched her leave.

After seeing her enter the elevator, the three entered the room under the watch of the other people. After they closed the door behind them, the people were left behind with wondering mind.

.

The first thing they saw inside was a lone white bed in the center, a bedside table, and a sofa. On the bed, Althea was already sitting while looking out from the window.

They can only see the back of her head, strands of her hair were swaying gently on the wind coming from the open window.

She was quite, the room was quite, and with the clicking sound of the door, she turned to look who came inside.

"Hello Althea," April smiled at her. "Good morning. How are you?"

"... I'm fine." Althea replied.

April observed her, Althea's face is not as pale as before. Although she looks frail that she can be blown by the wind in any second, she has vitality in her face at least.

"That's good..." April said.

Althea did not reply her, so the four stared at each other in silence.

Aaron is simply quiet, so it was April and Dave who were uncomfortable with the silence.

The two wanted to speam and say anything but nothing comes in their mind.

It was Althea who sighed first and broke the silence. "Speak. Why are the three of you here early in the morning?"

April hesitated before saying seriously. "I'm here to update you about the man who shot you yesterday. And, uh, before that, I would like to apologize..."

Her voice grew smaller and smaller, seeing that the other merely stared at her, her lips twitched, and she was Force to finish her sentence. Althea's gaze was intense. "... Because we dragged you up, one thing lead to another and this happened..."

Althea still has no response. April thought it was odd, Althea was not angry and she did not even chased them out of the room, and she thought that maybe Althea was traumatized with what happened and can't utter a word.

With that thought, she was sunken into guilt again. She casted her gaze down in attempt to avoid her gaze, but what her eyes caught made her flinched a little.

Althea was also wearing a hospital gown, this gown is naturally short sleeves. NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

April's brows furrowed after seeing what was on Althea's arms. The more she stares at it, the more she thinks it's familiar.

Then the scene in the bathroom entered her mind.

Right, that time, she saw these marks too! Althea was wearing a long sleeved gown that evening, but since she was washing her arms, that part of her was completely exposed.

April thought she was just hallucinating that part, but seeing them up close, who thought that there were several marks on her arms?

After confirming that those marks were cuts from attempted suicide, she looked up at Althea with complicated eyes.
