What Separates Me and You

Chapter 168 Masks

Sierra would definitely face severe criticism if their marriage got exposed right after she debuted in the entertainment industry.

Even if Lewis had incredible connections and influence, Sierra’s career in the entertainment industry would be doomed if the audience didn’t buy it.

Lewis paused for a while and looked at Conrad again.

“What do you think we should do?”

After a moment of hesitation, Conrad replied, “We need to find a professional PR team for this.

Lewis seemed deep in thought, and after a while, he said, “Let’s not worry about it for now.”

“For now?”

Conrad didn’t understand Lewis’ approach. It would be too late to take action if they waited until the situation went beyond control.

However, observing Lewis’ composed demeanor, Conrad sensed that he might have his own plan, so he stopped discussing the issue.

Shifting their focus back to the company’s affairs, Conrad brought up another topic.

“President Alvarez, our company’s stocks haven’t experienced any significant changes recently. We’ve just merged with International Collective, and you previously mentioned holding a press conference. When do you think we should schedule it?”

Lewis leaned back against his chair and picked up a document. “Bring Kiran here.”

“Huh?” Conrad couldn’t keep up with his train of thought, but since Lewis didn’t elaborate. further, he could only carry out the request.

Conrad then left to summon Kiran.

Shortly after, Kiran arrived at the office. However, before he could knock on the door, he noticed Josephine sitting in the office next door.

Apart from Conrad, no other employees had been assigned to work on this floor. Considering Lewis’ meticulous character, he obviously would only choose capable individuals.

However, Josephine’s presence here added a subtle nuance to the situation.

Kiran wasn’t completely unaware of their situation. He knew Lewis had married the adopted daughter of the Alvarez family due to pressure from his grandfather.

However, he didn’t pay much attention to his mute wife and was more concerned about the

mistress he kept outside. Those in the know would say Sierra was his true love, yet a significant look flashed across Kiran’s gaze when he saw Josephine here.

Sensing something, Josephine raised her gaze and glanced outside the door, but no one was there. Puzzled, she refocused her attention on the documents before her.

Meanwhile, Kiran knocked on the door and entered Lewis’ office.

“Chairman Alvarez.”

Exuding a somewhat relaxed demeanor, Lewis was seated on the sofa with his legs crossed. He calmly looked at Kiran and motioned for him to sit.

Kiran sat opposite him and asked, “Is there something you want to discuss with me?”

A faint, almost imperceptible smile appeared at the corner of Lewis’ lips as he replied, “I have reviewed your previous strategy, and it’s quite good. However, I’d like to discuss some details with you.”

Kiran raised his hand and pushed his gold-rimmed glasses up slightly. “Please go ahead, Chairman Alvarez.”

Lewis pondered for a moment before speaking. “I think simply holding a press conference is not enough. Even if the stock prices rebound, it won’t be sufficient to sustain the company’s financial operations in the short term.”

Kiran interjected, “But haven’t we already merged with International Collective? They have invested all their funds into the parent company. How can it still be insufficient?”

“The funds invested by International Collective only filled the current gap in the company and ensured its normal operation. We still need more funds in the future. Besides, do you think International Collective will leave it at that?”

Kiran fell silent as though contemplating Lewis’ words.

Moments later, he responded, “You got a point, Chairman Alvarez. So, what are your thoughts?”

A faint smile curved Lewis’ lips as he leisurely replied, “I believe we need to collaborate with another company, preferably a large company that is related to Alvarez Corp’s business and has potential appeal.”

Kiran’s eyelids twitched slightly. “Is there a specific company that you have in mind?” NôvelDrama.Org content.

“Of course, there is. When Mr. Fairchild was still here, he collaborated with a foreign company called TOPSUN, and I think it’s quite promising.”

Kiran didn’t show a significant reaction to his words. “What about Mr. Fairchild?”

“He’s injured and is currently recuperating. If you have time, you can reach out to him and discuss how we can establish a collaboration with this company.”

“Are you suggesting that we target only this company?”

“After a comprehensive analysis, this company seems to be the most suitable option. It’s a foreign enterprise and has a certain level of recognition. Of course, if you have a more suitable company in mind, we can consider collaborating with them too.”

Kiran looked at him calmly and said after a while, “I just returned to the country, so I’m not very familiar with the domestic market yet. However, I can go back and conduct some research.

“That’s fine. You have just taken office, and there are still many things to familiarize yourself with. Regardless of which company we collaborate with, I think it would be a good choice as long as we can impress the public.”

Kiran nodded. “Got it. I will go back and do some study.”

“Please do so as soon as possible. It would be best to have it finalized before the conference.”

“Alright.”

press

“Well, there’s nothing else for now. I will send you the specific details of the collaboration to your email.”

Pausing for a while, Kiran stood up. Suddenly, he remembered something and said, “By the way, Chairman Alvarez, I’ve been in the company for a few days now, and today we received a contact from

a potential client who seems to be a long-standing major client that has collaborated with the company for quite some time.”

“And?”

“He scheduled a meeting for today, but since I’m still new here, I don’t think I can handle the conversation effectively. I hope you can accompany me to the meeting.”

“I’m sure you’re aware that the company is having a hard time right now, and many clients are growing anxious. We need someone with significant influence to suppress them.”

With that, Kiran looked at Lewis quietly and waited for his response.

The faint smile at the corner of Lewis’ mouth faded slightly. Voice devoid of emotion, he said, “Sure. Send me the address later.”

Kiran nodded slightly. “Alright, I’ll get back to work then.”

Without saying anything further, Kiran turned to leave.

Once Kiran was gone, the smile on Lewis’ face disappeared.

As Kiran passed by Josephine’s office, he glanced inside again.

This time, Josephine keenly noticed his gaze, and when she looked up, she met Kiran’s eyes.

Josephine’s heart trembled slightly, and she quickly lowered her head to focus on the work before her.

Kiran didn’t linger for long either. After glancing at Josephine, he left the area.

When Josephine looked up again, Kiran had already vanished without a trace.

She had seen this person before. He was the newly appointed president of Alvarez Corp. On the outside, he appeared gentle and refined, but when he looked at Josephine just now, she couldn’t help but feel a tingling sensation on her scalp.

Having learned from the experience with Seth, Josephine could no longer judge a book by its cover alone. People wore masks and presented only the side they wished others to see. Their true selves were concealed beneath those masks.

Even Lewis was no exception. In the eyes of outsiders, he seemed distant and indifferent, as if he had no desires or interests and preferred to keep people at a distance. However, in reality…

Unsettling images flashed through Josephine’s mind. She closed her eyes and tried to push aside those jumbled images from her thoughts.

Perhaps his encounter with Sierra would be even more intense. After all, Sierra could fulfill his

desires.

Just as Josephine was immersed in her thoughts, she heard the distinct click-clack of high heels approaching.
