Chapter 3 Clean Yourself in the Rain
Chapter 3 Clean Yourself in the Rain
Five years later, in Los Angeles.
Luna stood outside the intensive care unit and looked at Cindy from a small window on the door. Cindy
Covey was only four years old, but she suffered from leukemia. Her face and lips were pale as death.
Cindy was a little sensible girl. She was very good at taking the pain. She didn't cry even if she was
twitching in pain. Because she didn't want Luna to worry about her.
Luna looked at Cindy, her sensible daughter, and turned to shed tears silently.
In the doctor's office, the Chinese doctor reminded Luna, "Mrs. Norton, we still couldn't get a donor for
Cindy. And she's in bad health conditions. I hope..."
Luna's heart was almost broken.
The doctor continued, "The matching rate of unrelated donors is only 0. 0001 to 0. 005 percent. Mrs.
Norton, are you sure you won't have another child with your husband?"
Luna shook her head, "No ... Cindy is not my husband's child."
The doctor was stunned for a moment, but he rearranged his features hastily. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Norton, I
didn't mean to..."
Luna interrupted him, "Doctor, I know. I ... I will get ready for pregnancy..."
Luna came out of the doctor's office and saw Chinese news on the TV opposite, in which Ariana was
holding Brodie's arm and smiling. She announced to the media that she and Brodie were going to get
engaged.
Luna stared at Brodie until her eyes hurt. But she failed to find the slightest bit of resistance on his face.
Luna smiled bitterly and laughed at herself. She had only been away for five years, and Brodie had
forgotten about her and fallen in love with Ariana. Luna didn't know what she was thinking about when
she took out her phone and called her mother, "Mom..."
"Luna? What's wrong?"
"Mom, Cindy is sick again. I ... I've decided to go back to find him. Take good care of Cindy."

Luna returned to China the night before Brodie's engagement.
It rained heavily.
Without an umbrella, Luna stood outside Brodie's villa, soaking wet. She rang the doorbell for the 49th
time.
Still, no one came to open the door.
Brodie must have a great time with Ariana now.
After the long wait, Luna almost lost the nerve to see Brodie again. She took her hand back from the
doorbell. She was about to return to the hotel and think about other ways.
Just as Luna turned around, a car stopped at the door.
Someone lowered down the window slowly. Luna saw the man in the car.
Luna couldn't help but freeze. She had her speech prepared, but she just couldn't say anything now.
Five years had passed. Now she was a far cry from Brodie. He was noble and calm, but she was
miserable.
Brodie looked at Luna as if she was a stranger to him. "Miss Covey, I haven't seen you for a while."
There was no emotion in his voice.
Luna looked at Brodie through the rain and thought of her daughter. Cindy was suffering in the ward in
Los Angeles. So, Luna pinched herself in the thigh and pulled herself together.
Luna straightened her back and walked to Brodie's car. She was very gentle and even smiling when
she asked, "Brodie, do you want me?"
After Luna said that shamelessly, Brodie turned to look at her coldly, which terrified her. Just as Luna
was about to back down again, Brodie sneered, "It's been five years and you still like to ask for a hand-
out."
Luna said nothing. Brodie was right.
However, she had only asked Brodie for a hand-out all her life.
Luna stood in the heavy rain and smiled embarrassedly. "Then Mr. Melton, will you give me the
chance?"
Brodie said coldly, "Looks like all these years after you left me, no men have ever satisfied you."
When Luna heard this, her smile froze. "No, Mr. Melton, there must be a mistake."
Brodie looked at her coldly.
Perhaps deep in Luna's mind, she didn't want to be an easy girl in Brodie's eyes. So, she told him her
most evil thoughts in a casual tone, "I was sent abroad by the Coveys, but my sister stole my man. Mr.
Melton, to be honest, I hate to..."
"Take off your clothes." Brodie interrupted Luna.
Luna stiffened.
Brodie snorted as he stared at her and repeated, "Take off your clothes."
Luna forced a smile. "Mr. Melton, I don't understand."
Brodie said coldly and sinisterly, "I don't like women who have slept with other men, Miss Covey."
Women who had slept with other men?
Was he mocking her for saying "My sister stole my man"?
Brodie lit a cigarette as if he was going to enjoy a good show. He looked at Luna. "Take off all your
clothes and clean yourself in the rain. Perhaps I will think about it."
