Unforgiven Sins

Chapter 37: The Experiment

Cinyla’s POV

Absentmindedly kicking away at my computer. Bit by bit even though I don’t know what I’m doing.

“Hey!” The woman who touched me screamed loudly. I stopped what I was doing and composed myself. I looked at what I was doing and what am I typing on the computer. There was no direction and what letter did I press?

“That’s it, girl! You’re always thinking about Sir BenChua. Oh are you dating, already? That’s different!” Teasing by Coleen, one of my best friends here at the company.

I quickly answered, “H-huh? No! I didn’t really notice that my datatype was different, I was actually asleep.” I apologized, hoping that my vague reason would convince her.

“No! Stop that! I’m not a shunga so I don’t know! I have ears on the outside and eyes on the back.” She then laughed and hit me some more. This woman is really different, she has strong senses.

“Not really! I fell asleep.” I insist because of him.

“Are you serious? Sleeping with your eyes open? Is that a new technique just to avoid what I’m saying, sis?” She teased me more.

I just snorted and scolded her.

“Take care of that, Coleen!” I just turned off my computer and thought of making chocolate coffee in our pantry.

“I’m sorry! Come on, not anymore. What was going on with you earlier? You seem out of your mind,” she asked, seeming to worry too much because of his gentle face.

“No, sis!” I answered Coleen quickly and ignored her sentence. Because she won’t stop until she knows what really happened.NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

Coleen is a good friend of mine. She has long hair and has a height that is exactly 5’2. I’m taller of course! But, one thing I admire about this girl is that she is very thoughtful.

I faced Coleen and raised an eyebrow at her. “You know, sis, even if I explain it to you, you won’t understand. Even I’m confused about what’s bothering my mind.”

She frowned as if he was more confused by what I said.

“I told you, you’ll be more confused. That’s okay, sis because you woke me up from my silence in my seat earlier. At least, I woke up to the truth and stopped my stupidity on my computer, right?” I added to make her stop thinking.

She didn’t want to think about that. I’m just not really comfortable telling or telling stories.

“Fine Cinyla, but always remember that I am your friend here okay?” Coleen smiled as if she really meant what he was saying.

I smiled back. “Yes, Colleen! Thank you, I really appreciate it.” I hugged him and rubbed his back to let him know that everything is okay.

“Come on! Let’s make some coffee in the pantry.” I invited him. He nodded and we left my office.

————————

It was late at night when I realized I was still up. I don’t understand, why I am here on the couch and looking at our picture. She was totally beautiful and I can say she really looks like Paolo.

I smiled slightly as I remembered Paolo’s handsomeness. I really admire and love him. But then after a while, my heart tightened. Many things came to my mind that made my heart skip a beat so fast.

I sip my coffee and try to calm down and relax my mind. Can’t be stressed. It is also unclear whether their path will be calculated.

I just put aside the picture I was holding, leaned on the couch, and slightly closed my eyes. “I hope you are still here. I hope that accident has not happened. I miss you, babe. I missed you so bad! You never got to witness Ben’s growth. He is a great man and overly responsible at all. He is the one who manages the company. But I wish it was just me, I wish it was just us.”

I can’t stop saying everything. Maybe I’m just exhausted. I also went to many meetings because my son was really busy. I got up to go to his room.

As I walked I couldn’t stop myself from slowing down. I remember a lot. I remember our bad and good memories. Really miss it!

Until his door opened. “Hey Mom, why are you still up? Do you need something?” He asked worriedly.

I approached him. “None dear. Did I disturb you? I was just walking.” I explain.

“No Mom, I’m really tired to drink milk. I can’t sleep.”

“Why? Do you have a problem son?”

“A lot of Mom! But the biggest problem that I cannot solve is her.”

I was surprised by the last thing he said. Her? Something is wrong. I didn’t know that he liked someone.

“Can we talk?” I asked him.

“For what Mommy?” he asked and closed the door to his room. “Let’s talk in our living room, Mom. Season me with milk.” He caressed.

“Sure, dear!” We were going downstairs and I told him to wait for me in the living room, I went straight to the kitchen and gave him the milk he wanted.

I am currently in the kitchen. While mixing his milk, I smiled slightly. I can’t imagine after 24 years my son will be falling in love with someone. That girl is lucky. I didn’t finish brewing the milk but just took three bottles of wine. I’m not going to get my son drunk, I just want him to confess.

Actually, he is not a story to me. He never shared anything even though he was too young before. He always went solo and handled everything.

“Mom? Where are you?” It screamed. I seem to have been here for a long time. I arranged what I was carrying and put some snacks on the tray I was holding now.

“Hi, son! I am so sorry for waiting for you so long. Do you want to drink?” I asked and showed him the wine and snacks I brought.

“Sure Mom, it’s been a long time since our last bonding. But it’s almost late at night Mommy, don’t you have a meeting tomorrow? Tomorrow is my rest day.”

“All my meetings were canceled. So it’s okay to rest late, besides it’s only once Ben. And you need to share a lot.” I joked with him and I also sat next to him. I put the snacks and the two wines on the table.

He drank immediately and I felt that he was going through something heavy. It saddened me to think about it. My son needs me now, who is that girl?

“Mom, when I fall in love is it okay for you that she is just a simple woman?” I almost raised an eyebrow at his strange question. Honestly, I want the girl he’s going to marry to be like us. My standard is not high, but I want him to have a better life. We are not a loss to the company but he deserves more.

“By the way Mom, why is there alcohol? Where’s my milk?” he asked as he finished almost half of the wine I gave him.

I gave him a forced smile at first, I knew he knew why there was alcohol. Because he won’t really tell the truth unless he has something right.

“Nothing son, this is just one time. I just want you to tell me a story.” I explained while observing his bright eyes. Every time I see his brown eyes, I remember his father. His dad has bold and bright brown eyes. Even more handsome when he smiles because of his dimples. Thrilling!

“Stop looking at me mom, I know you remember him- Daddy. I missed him, Mom, he is really dead? Until now, I just want to think it is just a dream. But no, he left us! I miss him off the Father.” He stopped sipping the wine and looked down at the floor. I see in his eyes the sadness and heartbreak desolation.

I approached him and rubbed his back. The plan I made was not really a waste. He is not drunk yet but he is now telling his pain. I really know him.

“Are you okay, son? I understand the pain. Even, I really missed your Daddy. But it hurts more, Ben that he left with someone else.” I bit my bottom lip to stop the tears from falling into my eyes. Ben just doesn’t want to see me weak, he never saw me that I am crying. I want him to know that I can do it.

“I think Mom I already know my step-sister.” My world almost stopped when I found out. When did he know?

There was a moment of silence between the two of us.

For a while, I tried to break the silence between the two of us.

“When and how?” I asked him directly with a serious face.

He didn’t answer me right away, he just poured another bottle of wine and drank it.

“M-BenChua?”

“Yes mom?”

“You already know your step-sister? How and where did you meet her?” I asked him one after another.

Until Ben was about to close his eyes, but took a bottle and opened it, and drank.

“W-what Mom? What did you say?” I don’t know if he got something right or if he just didn’t understand me. I just repeated what I said. “I said, how did you know that you have a step-sister, when?”

It didn’t answer immediately. But the second wine he was drinking was consumed. Actually, it’s just San Miguel beer so it’s not too strong right now, I don’t know. He didn’t move the snacks I put in.

“Ben?” I called his name.

He didn’t seem to hear anything but suddenly he spoke. “You know what Mommy, I really liked her. Ohh, not exactly like but I loved her already. But why… why our destiny is like this, very complicated. Also, I can’t imagine that I fall in love with her.” He confessed while drinking again the San Miguel beer.

He added more. “I don’t believe in that f*cking DNA test. I don’t understand why it happened. Liked wow, I’ll only live once, and then I’ll know it’s not possible because he’s part of our past.”

I was almost dizzy with what he was saying. He is actually weird right now. He was just saying that he knew his step-sister, but now he is telling his lovely girl. I don’t understand anything.

I took the wine from him because I felt that he was no longer well. “Hey Mom, I am not done. Give me that! I will finish drinking it.” He tried to take it but I didn’t budge from his strength. I just made him sit on the sofa because I knew Ben would tell more stories.

“Enough, Ben. You’re already drinking a lot. Can you rest?” I asked but he still told me that he can.

I just put the wine at the bottom of the table in front of us, because now it’s going to close. He is almost drunk already. I made the mistake of giving him a drink.

“No Mom! I want to talk to her. I want to see her.”

I raised an eyebrow because he kept repeating what he was talking about. “Which girl do you like, Ben?”

He just smiled at my question. Who will answer soberly, if the other person is already drunk?

“Nothing, Mom.” He even smiled as he walked happily. “I’ll take care of you, Ben. Tell your story tomorrow. I need to know who is your stepsister and that special girl who owes your heart.” I am already supporting him because he will surely rest in his bed.

While we were walking, he kept saying “why” and it was always cheap. I don’t know if it’s because of the drunkenness or if he’s really in love with someone. A few moments later we also reached his room. Good thing he didn’t gain weight. I also took him to his room.

“Rest, Ben. I am so sorry. But I hope I can know the truth by tomorrow.” I whispered.

“Mom…”

He was currently lying down when he called me.

“Please don’t hurt her. Don’t be mad at her,” he said.

“W-who?” I asked confusedly.

“Her… Cin-” until he falls asleep without mentioning the name.

I stood up and hugged him while many things were going through my mind.

I also left his room and sighed.

Who is that woman that you really loved right now? Who is your step-sister?
