Chapter 14 I'm Fine with That Fragrance
Nolan and Kathleen paused as they heard that. Then Kathleen hurriedly explained, "Mr. James, your
grandma asked me to make some food for you, so I cooked these by myself. You..." Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
She wanted to follow Mr. James, but Nolan stepped forward and stopped her.
"Miss Kathleen, please finish the food before you leave."
Kathleen stamped her feet angrily and glared at Nolan.
James got on the car to the villa. When he passed by the bustling streets, he casually glanced up. He
saw a pink dress in the window of a brand store.
The little girl's pink and tender face immediately appeared in his mind. She must look good in this
dress.
"Stop."
The driver stopped the car steadily as soon as Mr. James said. He was surprised to see Mr. James get
off the car and walk into a brand store of women's clothing.
At the same time, in the villa...
Kara was putting the dishes prepared by Libby on the dining table. She thought that Uncle James had
adopted her and supported her treatment. She had nothing to repay him.
So, she was learning cooking from Libby and had been working hard. She hoped that she could make
food for Uncle James one day.
"Miss Kara, you're smart. You are really a quick learner."
Libby had chatted with Kara before and heard that her parents had passed away. And the Quains were
not friendly to her. Therefore, Libby felt sympathy for Kara.
Kara blushed as she got Libby's compliment. She did nothing but some trivial matters like washing and
cutting vegetables.
The blushing girl was adorable and cute. Libby couldn't help smiling at her.
"Mr. James will be back soon. We will have dinner when he gets here."
"Alright." Kara nodded and went out to wait for him.
James had just entered the villa. He had thought that Libby would come to pick up his things, but he
found it was the little girl. She ran to him, her big eyes blinking. As a smile brightened her face, he felt
his heart flip.
"Uncle James, let me."
He had a bag in his hand. Kara reached out to take it.
James didn't want to refuse her. He directly gave it to Kara.
When he walked into the living room, he frowned at the smell of flowers.
James didn't like to have smells in the place he lived. That's why he frowned when he noticed this
unfamiliar fragrance.
He looked around and found several pots of daffodils on the tables in the dining hall and the living
room.
The white petals were mixed with smaller ones of various colors. The flowers bloomed in the dark
green leaves. It was quite lovely.
He was staring at the flowers and hadn't say anything. Kara thought that he didn't like them. She was
nervous and pinched her hand.
"I felt that this place is a little drab. I saw a flower shop when I went out with Libby, so I bought some
flowers. If you don't like them, I'll move them to the courtyard."
James looked at her worried face and held her little hand.
"It's alright. I'm fine with it."
"Really?"
She feared that he was just comforting her. She repeated to herself that he didn't like flowers and
grass.
"I don't need to lie to you." James patted her head and went upstairs.
Kara shrunk her shoulders. She stood stiffly, staring blankly at the view of his back.
She remembered that every time her father asked her to do something or rewarded her, he would
gently pat her on the head. Did Uncle James have the same habit?
He glanced at the bag in her hand and cleared his throat. He had bought it on the spur of the moment.
Now he didn't know how to give it to her.
Kara noticed his gaze and she also glanced at the small bag. She took a look inside. It seemed to be a
set of women's clothes.
"Uncle James, this..." She thought that it was a present he prepared for someone else, so she quickly
put it down.
"My business partner is a leading figure in the garment industry. He gave Nolan some clothes. He
thought that this one might be suitable for you, so he asked me to give it to you." James said calmly
without blinking.
"Wow! Uncle James, please give my thanks to Uncle Nolan." Kara didn't expect that the clothes were
for her. She was grateful to Uncle Nolan.
There was light in her eyes. She looked so happy. Somehow, James felt annoyed and put on a long
face.
