Chapter 36

“What’s the problem with that?” Emmett raised an eyebrow

“No, no problem at all! Clara hastily shook her head “Im just a bit taken aback, that’s all!” © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

After all, the Melendez clan is quite the bigwig She had assumed they would throw a massive wedding bash! That was one of her worries- she didn’t want anyone to recognize Alex at the wedding!

She didn’t expect them to skip the wedding altogether.

“Tll tell my folks that we’re too swamped at work to plan a wedding”

“I’ll go with whatever Mr. Melendez says!”

Emmett looked up at Clara.

For a secretary, she’s rarely this cooperative!

He hoped having a contract bride would get him off his dad’s endless nagging

He’s been pretty fed up these years.

During break time, Alex secretly went to the restroom and took out his phone to check it. There were missed calls from Aiden. He thought about replying but then gave up.

If he made a call, Aiden would definitely reprimand him! With Aiden’s stern face in mind, Alex quickly put away his phone.

“I didn’t see anything, I didn’t see anything My phone is broken” he said as he was interrupted by the sudden ringing of his phone. It seemed like the twins had a connection, as expected, it was Alden

calling!

Alex hesitated for a moment but eventually answered. “Aiden…”

“You finally answered the phone! I thought you went missing!”

“I forgot to bring my phone yesterday! And I was afraid of getting caught by Mom, so I didn’t go back to get it.”

“How can you forget everything? All our preparations would have been for nothing!”

Alex pouted, “Alden, I’ve made up my mind. I don’t want to share mom with you anymore!”

Alden asked, “Why?”

“I want a mom all to myself! What if she likes you better because you do better in school and I don’t? If both dad and mom like you, wouldn’t I become the kid nobody likes?” Aiden helplessly said, “Where are these thoughts coming from?”

“Anyway, I’m not going along with our plan anymore!” Alex laughed, “But you’re still my brother!”

“You don’t want us to live together as a family?”

“I don’t!”

Aiden seemed to try to convince him, “Mom and dad won’t treat you like that. They would be more concerned about you! Because I do well, they don’t need to spend too much time on me. If you’re not doing well, they would pay more attention to you!”

“But their attention means disciplining me! I don’t want that kind of attention.” Alex hung his head, a bit down, “I’m not as smart as you. They will be more and more disappointed in me

“Whatever, I won’t force you! Gotta hang up now.”

Aiden ended the call, Alex stared at the blank screen of his phone.

“I could introduce mom to a boyfriend who really likes me. Preferably someone who’s not doing so well at school. That way, he could understand me!”

The more Alex thought about it, the more sense it made, he couldn’t help feeling proud. “I’m so smart! Not like Aiden, he’s just a goody–two–shoes nerd!”

Not long after Aiden hung up, he sneezed!

A maid immediately asked, “Aiden, are you catching a cold?”

Aiden waved her off. “No, I’m fine.”
