Twisted Ties of Love

Chapter 60

Chapter 60

The temperature dropped in the night, and Izabella curled up on the ground shivering.

Besides the cold, her stomach hurt again. She breathed on her hands to warm them a little and then pressed them against her stomach, but it couldn't stop the pain.

She needed to take her medicine, but it was in the drawer inside. Izabella tried to move, but the balcony door had somehow closed.

Izabella looked at the inside, pursed her lips, and then took an egg out of her pocket.

Luckily, she had prepared a boiled egg beforehand.

She cracked the eggshell with one hand, peeled it bit by bit, and ate it slowly. People with stomach problems shouldn't eat eggs casually, but she had no choice.

The yolk was dry and hard to swallow. Izabella was thirsty, and her eyes longingly looked at the washroom.

Last time she almost starved, and this time would she die of thirst?

Izabella gave a bitter smile and licked her dry lips. She placed the half-eaten egg beside her, looking up at the sky. The stars had disappeared, and a layer of mist appeared on the glass; it was raining.

A glint of hope flashed in Izabella's dark eyes. She propped herself up and pushed open a window with her right hand. The window opened, but her arm was too short to touch the rain outside, let alone catch any to drink.

Suddenly, a slight sense of moisture coated her throat, and Izabella covered her mouth, blood oozing out of the corner. The long-suppressed blood was dark red.

Her pale face showed extreme pain, and she couldn't suppress the vomit any longer. Her body collapsed on the ground.

Izabella lay weak on the floor, her hair covering her face as she peered through the gap at the drawer only five meters away, where her life-saving medicine was.

A hoarse groan came from her throat, and her stomach ached dully. It felt like the pain was traveling through her blood to her heart, anmd her heart was squeezed tightly.

Izabella shivered, raising her right hand, and her face looked gloomier. A wave of desperation wrapped around her, and tears blurred her vision as her pupils gradually lost their brightness.

At this point, Izabella had slipped into a semi-conscious state, collapsing weakly on the balcony.

The window was half-open, and the cold wind mixed with the drizzle blew in, landing on her body. She was afraid of the cold and was wearing thin clothes. She tried to stay conscious, but she didn't even have the strength to move her eyelashes.

Izabella woke up in the hospital and heard someone pressing the bell urgently and then running to the door.

"Dr. Felton, Ms. Salotti is awake." Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

Izabella heard the words "Dr. Felton" and knew that Presley had saved her again.

"How are you? Does it still hurt?" Presley looked at Izabella lying on the bed.

Izabella looked at him with a confused expression and croaked, "It doesn't hurt, but I don’t feel well." Her body felt heavy and powerless.

Presley, as a doctor, knew her discomfort and what she needed. He quickly poured her some water, helped her sit up, and fed her.

Izabella's throat was parched, and she didn't feel better until she finished the entire cup.

"Do you want more?" Presley asked, looking at the empty cup.

Izabella shook her head weakly.

Presley put down the cup, raised the bed, and let her lean on the back, then said, "I've ordered some food for you. Eat some when it comes."

Izabella seemed to be lost in thought. She stared at him blankly for a long time before responding, "Alright."

Presley made a call, handed over his work to someone else, and then sat by Izabella's bed.

By now, Izabella had regained her composure. Seeing Presley sitting by her bed, she felt guilty. "Presley, you can go do your work. I'll be fine on my own."

"I'm off work today. Let me keep you company and chat for a while. You've been holding everything in since your father died. You look sad but say nothing. You'll get sick like this eventually."

Presley wanted her to open up, but she didn't know what to say. She stared out the window, forcing the words out of her dry throat, "How did you know I got in trouble?"

"Today, you were supposed to come to the hospital for a check-up."

After Presley reminded her, Izabella remembered that the hospital had asked her to come for a stomach check-up at least once a month.

"I forgot."

"I guessed that," Presley said. "I called you several times, but no one answered. Worried, I went to Quiet Forest Estates to find you and saw you..."

"Brett is such a scumbag!"

Presley would never forget the scene when he broke into Izabella's house.

Izabella was curled up on the balcony floor, freezing cold, soaking wet, and completely weak.

At that time, Izabella had a weak breath and felt as cold as ice. She was so pitiful, and he didn't know how Brett could be so cruel.

Fortunately, he found Izabella in time and took her to the hospital in time.

Her stomach, however, was worse than before. The cancer cells had spread faster, and she might not even last a year, let alone two.

"Thank you for saving me again," Izabella smiled.
