Chapter 2271
Chapter 2271
It never occurred to Claudia that she had to seek Sebastian's permission to answer her own phone call. It was so ironic.
She nursed a grievance against Sebastian for keeping her on a short leash. If that was spread out, wouldn't her great reputation be sullied?
Was that still that fearless policewoman, Claudia?
D*mn it.
Claudia glanced at him resentfully before she answered the call. That was what she needed to do then.
Actually, Sylvia's call came just in time, and she was thankful for that. Otherwise, even if she managed to keep them informed in advance, it would be useless.
As soon as she picked up the call, she heard Sylvia asking, "Claudia, why are you taking so long?"
"Sylvia, you've waited me for a long time, huh? Tell the others that I've bumped into your brother, Sebastian, and he insists on coming back with me to celebrate me moving in to my new home. I couldn't turn him down." "What?" Sylvia got keyed up in an instant, and her pitch rose unconsciously. "Have you bumped into Sebastian? Why would he want to come to your place? Yesterday, I asked him to come, but he rejected it. Why did he change his mind today?"
"Who knows what's the matter with him? He keeps badgering me into letting him come back with me. Don't you think he's ridiculous?" As Claudia spoke, she shot an aggrieved look at Sebastian. She did not feel that her words were making him feel embarrassed at all.
Did she say that there was something wrong with him?
Sebastian was at a loss for words.
He wondered if she could be any less frustrating.
He snorted lightly and could not care less about Claudia's comments on him. He was not afraid of being misunderstood by his sister either. Anyway, he would go to Claudia's place. Since that was the case, he was not scared of what others would say.
"Don't tell me that he's coming here for me." As sharp-witted as Sylvia was, she sensed that something was amiss instantly.
Claudia felt the urge to give her a thumbs-up. She shot a glance at Sebastian and met his deep gaze.
After that, she cracked a smile and replied, "That's right. I also think so."
"All right, I know what to do," Sylvia said, "Let him come."
"Are you sure?" Claudia asked.
"Yes, very sure." As Sylvia spoke, she gave a cunning grin.
Even though Claudia did not see the expression on Sylvia's face, she felt that she must be up to something when hearing her snicker.
Claudia said, "Okay, I'll walk back on foot with your brother. Don't be too anxious."
"How long will it take for you to come back?" Sylvia asked again.
"Well, it will take at least half an hour." Claudia answered, "It won't take less than half an hour."
"I got it." There was no sign of tension in Sylvia's tone, hence Claudia felt more relaxed too.
After hanging up, Claudia gazed at Sebastian.
"Little Jones, let's go."
"I've told you so many times. Don't call me that way."
"I can't change it," Claudia said, "I don't know what has been concerning you. In my opinion, this is the most polite address. Are you bothered by others calling you little brother, or by others underestimating the size of your rod?"
She was so straightforward, making him wondered if that was something a woman should say.
Sebastian had an impulse to break open her skull to see if her brain structure was the same as everyone else's. Why was her mindset so peculiar? He took a deep breath and said, "Both of them, of course."
"Uh!" Claudia was shocked. "You actually admitted it. It's uncharacteristic of you, Little Jones."
"Since I've admitted it, is it appropriate for you to continue calling me by that?"
"Yes, it's appropriate." Claudia began guffawing. "I don't think there's anything inappropriate about it. Little Jones is a lovely and cute address. Moreover, it'll always remind you that you hate me very much. Isn't it quite in line with your feelings for me?"
"Who said I hate you?" Sebastian could not help but to retort.
"What?" Claudia blinked and looked him, inquiring in disbelief, "Don't you hate me?"
"When did I say that I hate you?" Sebastian knitted his brow again, thinking that he had never said such a thing before.
She really had an aberrant mindset.
"Then, the more I don't understand. Little Jones, since you don't hate me, why do you often treat me so unfriendly?" Claudia was puzzled, but when she heard him say he did not hate her, her heart started to flutter like a little girl.
She also let out a sigh in amazement, detecting a tide of passion rising in her.
At the moment, she had a feeling of a love-struck girl.
Being questioned, a pucker appeared between Sebastian's eyebrows again.
How the hell did she come up with so many questions?
As a matter of fact, he did not know the reason behind it.
"Look at you. You seem to be hating me so much now. It leaves me helpless every time you put on such a face, as if I owe you something. I don't know how I offended you. I just confessed to you. It isn't my fault to like you either. Why are you so furious?"
Hearing that she liked him, his eyes darkened as they landed on her. He wanted to see some emotions from her eyes, such as sincerity. Did she still like him then? He pondered so.
To his dismay, being stared by him, Claudia waved her hand
immediately and said, "Don't get me wrong. I don't like you anymore now. You're too young for me. I used to be driven by hormones and have acted recklessly towards you. There's nothing more than that. I'm in my right mind now. I won't have that kind of feelings for you anymore. Don't be afraid."
Hearing that, Sebastian frowned.
Did she not like him anymore?
Since she said so, it would be that.
Furthermore, she had repeated it several times.
It got his dander up. For some reason, a wave of inexpressible fury surged up within his chest.
"Why aren't you speaking?" Claudia was flummoxed to notice the change of the air exuded by him. He seemed to be very unapproachable at that point.
"What should I say?" Sebastian asked angrily, "Thank you for liking me in the past, and for not liking me anymore? Or should I say that you're so fickle to simply fall in love with boys?"
"Well, I'm not fickle." Claudia rejoined directly, "I'm a plain-spoken person, but I'm not fickle. Until now, I've only liked you. Although we aren't suitable for each other, you can't give me such a bad name. I don't think it's appropriate because I'm not a person who will simply fall in love with just anyone."
"Am I the only one?" Sebastian furrowed his brow again while he cast a strange look at her.
"Of course," Claudia said proudly, "You're the only one."
It was just that she no longer liked him then.
That line echoed in Sebastian's heart. It was obvious that he was aggrieved.
While walking, Claudia explained, "Look at me, I was very unlucky too.
It was the first time in my life that I've fallen in love with someone, but was so blind to have picked a kid who is much younger than me You're too young. Little boy, when I fall in love next time, I must fall in love with an older guy, a mature man who can tolerate me. In that way, I can be a happy little woman by his side."
She wanted to be like Sylvia and Kendrix. Sylvia had been cosseted totally by him.
The feeling of being the apple of the eye of a man was super enviable.
Just thinking about it had gladdened her heart.
She was indeed envious of Sylvia.
Unfortunately, everybody had his or her own fate, and not everyone could be as lucky as Sylvia.
Sometimes, luck and effort were the keys that needed to coexist in order to achieve happiness.
Claudia came back to reality. After all, the happiness belonged to someone else.
Who would have the chance to meet a decent boyfriend to be coddled and doted on?
She was just holding a wishful thinking.
Thinking of that, Claudia sighed bitterly and felt that she was still greedy after all.
By the time she raised her head up again, she saw that Sebastian had already been gazing at her oddly.
Claudia was baffled. She looked up right away and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." Sebastian turned to look into the distance, avoiding Claudia's gaze.
Claudia did not get it. "Why did you
behave in such a weird way suddenly? Sebastian, you don't have to take it to the heart, do you? Your already have a girlfriend. Isn't your date with her quite good too?
e
There's no need to pull a long face whenever you see me. It's been a long time since I liked you. We need
to move on from the past, right?"
"I told you that she isn't my girlfriend," Sebastian said it again in a deep voice. From NôvelDrama.Org.
His tone was rather brusque, as though he had been wronged and he had to explain it to vent his anger.
"Oh, you did tell me just now, but I think you wouldn't have dated a girl if you don't like her. To date a girl in a dessert shop early in the morning, it indicates that you must like her very much."
"You can't stop speculating about others' private lives, can you?" Sebastian said grumpily again.
Claudia was startled for a while before shaking her head. "No, it isn't a speculation. It's an inference. Based on your behavior and expression, I can
tell that you like her."
"You are definitely not a good policewoman," Sebastian spoke so all of a sudden.
Claudia was dumbstruck to hear that, and she knitted her brow. "Why did you say that? I didn't provoke you. Do you have to say that?"
Sebastian was amazed by himself that he could still talk to her so patiently. There must be something wrong with him.
"It's the truth," Sebastian said again.
Blinking, Claudia darted a glance at him and said seriously, "You can't defame my profession like that. In addition, how did you come to such a conclusion? Why did you think I'm not a good policewoman?" "That's based on what happened just now,"
Sebastian replied.
"Oh, do you mean it's because I said that you're into the girl you dated?" Claudia came to her senses. "So, you think I'm not a good policewoman
because you don't like her?"
"Yes." Sebastian nodded.
The two of them had a conversation as they walked.
Claudia opined, "Perhaps you don't realize that you've already fallen in love with her. It's like being infatuated unknowingly. If so, it doesn't mean that
I've made a wrong inference."
As soon as Claudia finished speaking, Sebastian was lost in thought momentarily. He repeated it dazedly, "Being infatuated unknowingly!"
"Yes, you must have failed to notice that you like her to this extent!"
