Trouble in Paradise (Arianna and Nicholas)

Chapter 0376

Chapter 0376

I overheard Nicholas ordering food outside. He specifically called to request some of my favorite pastries and made sure to emphasize that they were for his wife.Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.

As I got dressed, I couldn't help but chuckle to myself put on this show

wondered who he was trying to of affection for when no one was watching. I would never believe him again.

After packing my luggage, I finally exited the room to find the dining table laden with an array of dishes.

Seated at one end of the long table, Nicholas was hastily shoving something into his pocket. I heard the crinkle of aluminum foil. Then, he took a sip of his coffee. I wasn't sure what he was trying to cover up. Clearing his throat, he glanced at me and asked, "Did you sleep well?"

I nodded. In fact, neither of us had gotten much sleep last night. The dark circles beneath his eyes were palpable, but I had covered mine with a thick layer of makeup that morning. Seeing me with my luggage, Nicholas frowned. "Where are you going?"

"I'm heading to Merdor. Yas has arranged an interview for me. The law firm has been doing a lot of public service projects recently, and they need positive publicity. She said I was the best fit for the job." "You're not coming home with me?" Nicholas begged to differ. "She's sending you all over the country while she gets to enjoy the comfort of her office."

I smiled but didn't say anything. On this matter, Yasmine had to take the blame for me.

Just as I was about to leave, Nicholas stopped me. "Eat something first before you go. I'll come with you after that. The interview shouldn't take too long, maybe a day at most."

"It's fine. You can't just leave your company. I'll go back once I'm done with work."

He darted after me as I reached the door. Standing in my way, he said, "Look at all this food I've ordered for you. It's all your favorite."

I glanced at the breakfast spread. The portion was indeed too much for just the two of us, but why did it matter?

"I don't eat much, and you're only drinking coffee. One bite from me doesn't really make a difference, does it?"

Nicholas snatched my suitcase away. "I'll eat with you.

Wrapping his arm around my waist, he nudged me toward the table and pulled out a chair for me.

He took a seat across from me and took a bite of the pastry. "You should try this. This hotel's breakfast is actually pretty good." Nooked at him and replied indifferently. "So, it turns out that you do eat breakfast."

He paused. "Of course. I'm human."

"But don't you only drink coffee?"

"Not really. Claudia used to joke that successful people only have coffee for breakfast. We were actually

staying out on our own back then, so we didn't have anyone to make breakfast for us. Eventually, I just got used to it."

I nodded, realizing how inseparable he was from Claudia.

When we first got married, I made him countless breakfasts, but he never ate any of them. I thought he didn't like my cooking at first, so searched high and low on the internet for recipes and tried

different cuisines.

But in the end, everything I made ended up in Claudia's stomach. After months of eating my food, she finally told me.

"Nick only drinks coffee in the morning. He'll never eat what you make. But don't feel bad, I'll eat it! // really good!"

I had even felt reassured at that time, thinking that at least his sister was nice to me. How ironic.

I got up. "Take your time. I really have to go now. My flight is early, and I'll miss it if I don't leave now."

"I said I'm coming with you." Nicholas also got up, wiping his mouth with a napkin. "We'll leave the room as it is. I'll have someone come and pack up later. Let's go."

He grabbed his coat. In the next instant, he was already pushing my suitcase toward the door.

Seeing that he wasn't joking. I said nonchalantly. "Fine. If you want to come, then come."

But when we got to the airport, we went our separate ways instead.
