to harm herself
Marco rubbed his face roughly as he looked at the raindrops now soaking his surroundings. Not to mention the lightning strikes, making Marco feel as if the world was crying along with his misfortune. For some reason, Marco could still feel the weight pressing on his chest. It truly felt painful, but Marco didn’t know how to remedy it.
Marco truly had hoped to have a child. Although it wasn’t planned at first, when Marco knew that a woman was carrying his flesh and blood, there was a glimmer of light that adorned his heart. A happiness that still didn’t feel real began to be felt by Marco every day, and this time that light was suddenly swallowed by darkness, making Marco feel suffocated.
Marco didn’t even stop cursing himself. Why had he been so careless and couldn’t protect his own future child, even when he had everything: power, wealth, and also the throne? But just to protect something he didn’t yet have, he couldn’t do it. It kept making Marco blame himself, and his anger seemed unhealable before he truly punished a woman who played a significant role in the pain he was now feeling.
Eventually, Marco tried to re-enter the hospital area. However, his steps slowed when he noticed several nurses and doctors running towards the corridor where Letta was. Marco became more certain when the doctors and nurses entered the room where Letta was being treated, making Marco quicken his pace, only to halt at the threshold when he saw pools of blood scattered on the floor. Nurses and doctors were attending to Letta, who was lying on the bed with a cut on her wrist, making Marco begin to process what was actually happening.
“What did she do?” Marco asked, trying to approach one of the nurses.
“Sorry, can you wait outside? We’re dealing with it, we hope everything will be okay,” the nurse said, trying to push Marco out. However, Marco pushed back roughly.
“I’m asking, what did she do?” Marco yelled, making the doctors and nurses attending to Letta look at him with a slight surprise.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
“The patient tried to harm herself, and we are trying to save her. So we ask for your cooperation. You can wait outside,” the doctor said, making Marco truly taken aback. Marco didn’t even resist when the nurse tried to push him out.
Marco could see from the large window that separated the room and the hospital corridor where Letta didn’t move at all, with a pale face and blue lips. Not to mention the bloodstains soaking her clothes and hands, making Marco feel as if he was slapped by the reality that the woman in front of him truly wanted to end all her suffering in an easy way.
It made Marco, for some reason, feel even more disgusted with Letta. She wanted to go and join their unborn child and leave her suffering for Marco alone, making Marco shake his head. His intention to keep Letta in his grip only grew stronger. Marco truly wouldn’t be able to forgive Letta, even if she redeemed herself in any way. That was what Marco was thinking about at the moment, when anger overtook him.
One of the nurses ran out, causing Marco to stop her immediately.
“By any means, save her life. I don’t want her to die easily. I want her to live to bear all that she has done,” Marco said, making the nurse pause. The nurse seemed not to understand what Marco wanted, before she chose to leave Marco as she had to fetch some urgent equipment.
Eventually, after about an hour, doctors and nurses treated Letta. Finally, Marco felt a little relieved when Letta was saved, even though she had deep wounds and was severely lacking in blood, and her condition was very weak. At least Letta was still breathing. Marco re-entered the room, where Letta was now lying weakly. Not only that, the apparatus attached to Letta’s body had increased, and her condition was deteriorating.
Marco gazed closely at Letta’s face, then reached out and caressed her cheek. A cold sensation immediately touched Marco’s skin as it came into contact with Letta’s.
“I won’t let you slip from my grasp easily. I will make you pay for all the suffering you’ve inflicted on me. You will pay for erasing my unborn child,” Marco said with a threatening tone and a cold aura now enveloping him. Marco seemed to promise himself that no matter what, he would ensure Letta would never be able to escape his grip.
Marco then shifted his gaze to the nightstand, where there was a phone with a visibly cracked screen. Marco picked it up and checked its contents. There weren’t many messages stored in the phone, as if no one cared about her well-being. This made Marco look back at Letta. Did she truly not have anyone she could rely on in her life?
After that, Marco looked back at his phone screen. He switched to the files stored in the phone. There were ordinary pictures of Letta that he had taken, and Marco’s hand paused when the phone displayed a photo of Letta and a man he had previously met. Of course, it was her ex-boyfriend whom Marco remembered as Abian. And it wasn’t just one photo, it turned out that Letta had stored more photos of her ex-boyfriend than of herself.
This made Marco, for some reason, feel even more hurt, the wounds that Letta had inflicted seeming to be more painful. Eventually, Marco chose to delete all files related to other people, whether it was Abian or others. Marco only left a photo of Letta alone in the phone. Not only that, Marco deleted all the contacts stored in the phone, leaving only his own phone number. It was as if a sign that Marco only allowed Letta to communicate with himself, and it was as if Marco didn’t allow Letta to have any connection with the outside world. His world would now only revolve around himself.
Eventually, Marco tried to put the phone back, leaving Letta still unconscious in the cold room. Even the sound of footsteps in the hospital corridor sounded very loud, as if it were a sign that the threat Marco gave to Letta had begun.
