Chapter 41
Chapter 41
"tomorrow? that's not fair!" adrian whined, resting his hands on the shoulders of both the seats in the
front of the car, leaning forward slightly so abel could see the disappointed look on his face.
"i'm sorry okay? i didn't plan this," abel sighed defensively, and adrian only slumped back into his seat
crossing his arms across his chest in annoyance. he didn't like the idea of not being able to spend
some time with his father when he hasn't seen him for almost a week.
"come on adrian don't be mad, we'll eat all the junk food while papa is gone," noah tried to make it
better, glancing at the overhead mirror so he could get a look at the smaller boy, who was persistently
staring outside the window, cheeks flushed slightly from the cold. "i'll take you somewhere fun?" noah
proposed, raising his eyebrows hopefully and adrian just rolled his eyes, shifting to the corner of the
long backseat so he couldn't be seen by either of his parents.
he felt like he was being slightly dramatic, especially when he knew that his father had no say in it, but
he couldn't help but feel disappointed. the school was closed for yesterday, so he was hoping that they
could have some "family" time, maybe go out for a movie or a simple dinner or just play video games,
but his hypothetical plans were ruined and he couldn't help but blame it all on the badly planned
business trip.
he was having some problems in school, that he didn't feel like he should bother his parents with, and
while some kids may find their parents invasive or annoying, adrian really loved them. they understood
him completely and they never pushed his limits. they never set any expectations and eventhough it
hasn't been a very long time since he's been staying with them, he couldn't remember any other people
that he's loved more than this.
he looked forward to every time abel came home early, or when noah decided to help him out
unnecessarily with some school work. he liked spending time with them especially when he didn't get to
do that very much, considering that both of them were working and needed time to themselves as well.
both his fathers make him feel comforted and loved, something he gets rarely at school eventhough he
has a decent amount of friends.
"adrian? i'm really sorry okay, i wish i could postpone the trip but this is a very good opportunity for me,"
abel mumbled after a while when he received no answer from adrian to noah's statement. "if it means
that much to you i'll tell my boss that i can't come, alright?" abel didn't sound very happy about it. he
had been hoping for as long as he can remember to get invited to one of the rotary events, and now
that he was, his kid wasn't happy about it. and it may sound very stupid, considering to miss out on
such a big opportunity, but he loved adrian much more than he loved his job.
"no, i just," adrian sighed, feeling guilty all of a sudden at the sadness underlying in abel 's tone. "i want
you to stay but work is important too, i just hope this was planned a little better," he chooses his words
carefully and abel has the sudden urge to tell noah to pull over so he can hug adrian as tight as
possible.
"do you want to have breakfast? i'm sure noah and i can manage a few hours away from work," abel
questioned, making up the decision spontaneously, not even knowing whether he could get away from
work.
"can you?" adrian finally sounded a bit happier and abel really hoped that he could get away for a few
hours.
"of course we can, right noah?" abel bit his lip uncertainly, looking over to noah for reassurance and
noah just gave him a small smile, resting one of his hands on abel 's thigh and giving it a little squeeze.
"i'll call up and ask, hopefully we can," abel just nodded, placing his hand on top of noah's and locking
their fingers, bringing their joined hands towards his mouth and placing an affectionate kiss on the back
of noah's hand.
"i love you," he murmured, turning up the volume of the radio slightly so adrian didn't feel
uncomfortable with their cheesy conversation, and noah just giggled shaking his head before glancing Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
in abel 's direction momentarily.
"i love you,"
