Three Year To Love (Emma Johnson and Ethan Carter)

Chapter 36

"Mr. Carter, are you saying that your compensation is just a way to throw money at this issue? I won't accept that. Don't think for a second that your wealth can solve everything, Ethan Carter."

Emma Johnson's eyes flashed with anger; being offered money to placate her was, in her mind, the ultimate humiliation. While she might not possess wealth like Ethan's, she would never compromise her principles for a mere sum of money. "I didn't intend to bribe you; I only meant to offer a fair compensation," Ethan said clearly, noting the fierce look in her gaze and hastening to clarify.

"No need for that, Mr. Carter. Just save your breath," Emma shrugged dismissively. Ethan's so-called compensation meant nothing to her.

"I've already instructed my assistant to handle that online video. If you agree not to pursue this any further, feel free to ask for anything else." Ethan's eyes locked onto hers, the seriousness in his tone evident. "Mr. Carter, you own business,"

don't need to worry about this matter. I can handle i Emma replied, firmly drawing a line. She didn't want to owe him any favors, no matter

how convenient.

"You're too late; I've already asked my assistant to take care of the video," Ethan replied, a faint smile cracking the icy facade of his demeanor.

"Well, thank you, Mr. Carter." Emma forced a reluctant smile, mumbling under her breath. Now that Ethan was involved, she knew it would be sorted out properly.

Ethan observed her, feeling a pang of frustration. After a moment's pause, he said. slowly, "As long as you agree not to pursue this, any request you have is on the table." He almost wished she would be more demanding, rather than appearing so detached.

"Mr. Carter, I'm neither as greedy nor materially obsessed as you might think. The video has caused me enough trouble; all I need is for Olivia to agree to take it down, and I'll let everything else go." Her tone was resolute, wanting to ensure Ethan didn't misinterpret her intentions.

misinterpret her intentions.

"Alright," he replied, a hint of disappointment tinting his voice. Since Emma refused everything he offered, he couldn't force it upon her, so he opted to let it be.

"If there's nothing else, Mr. Carter, I'll get back to my work." She turned to leave before Ethan could respond.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Just as she exited the office, she ran into Olivia Brooks, who was anxiously hurrying her way. Hearing that Emma had been summoned to Ethan's office made Olivia's heart race-her calm demeanor shattered instantly Each passing second felt like torture, and finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the office door swung open.

She shot a scornful glance at Emma, brushing past her without a word and rushing into

the office.

In light of the guilt he felt towards Olivia, Ethan chose once again to overlook the

situation.

"Ethan, tomorrow's Saturday. How about you take me shopping? We can pick up some things for Grandpa and Aunt Margaret. I'll go home with you tonight," Olivia exclaimed, her eyes alight with hope, eager for a positive response. "I have two crucial international meetings Saturday; I really can't spare the time," he replied, not looking up from the documents on his desk.

Olivia's face fell at his rejection. She had once been treated like a cherished gem in his eyes, but now she could perceive the subtle shift in Ethan's attention.
