The Whole World Seems To Be Falling For My Wife

Chapter 39

Chapter 39

Chapter 39 The Truth And The Punishment

In her bedroom, Julie had finished the whole bowl of noodles and even drunk up the soup to the last drop.

Even though it was just a normal bowl of homemade noodles, she felt like she hadn't tasted such delicious food in a long time.

Because of that, Julie now had a good impression of Maria. When she came downstairs, she was confused to see Lily and Vivian blocking the door of Maria's room in a hostile way.

"They accused me of stealing," Maria said to Julie calmly.

In her tone, there was no hint of pleading or an intention to ask for help. She simply seemed to be answering Julie's unasked question.

Julie was stunned.

"Oh? Stealing what?"

As if she was standing in court, Lily pointed at Maria.

"Madam, Miss Maria admitted just now that she touched the flour in the kitchen. She claims that she used it to make noodles, but there's at least a pound of flour less. She is not a cow.How could she eat so much noodles in one sitting?"

After a pause, Lily continued, "I suspect that Miss Maria stole the imported flour and sold it somewhere else..."

She confidently continued her accusation, not noticing that Julie's face was getting gloomier and gloomier by the second. NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.

Julie put down the bowl slowly with sharp eyes.

"Did you just say ‘cow'?" she asked through gritted teeth.

"That's right! Only a cow could eat so much in one meal." Lily explained the situation animatedly, but soon, she started to feel that something was wrong.

Julie's eyes were as cold as ice.

But why did she keep glaring at the maid instead of at thief Maria? Julie came from a well-educated family, and had always been taught to act like a lady.

But at this moment, she really wanted to tip the empty bowl on Lily's head! Over the years, even though Julie's family members had gradually distanced themselves from her after she married Bill on impulse, none of them dared to speak rudely in front of her.

Now, all she had done was eat a bowl of noodles. How dare someone insinuate that she was a cow? And that someone was her servant, no less!

"Maria, the noodles you made for me was delicious.Thank you."

Julie finally opened her mouth and spoke to Maria.

However, it was not the harsh rebuke that Vivian and Lily were eagerly awaiting.

"You're welcome."

Maria glanced at Julie, and then at the empty bowl kept aside.

"Wash the bowl yourself," she said flatly.

"Oh...Okay."

Julie frowned, feeling a bit upset. She had just defended Maria against a false accusation, so why didn't the latter feel grateful? How could Maria still be so arrogant? Maria had been an orphan since she was a baby.

Had she simply been born fearless? It was only now that Lily and Vivian also realized what was going on, and they both gulped.

Lily, in particular, was startled.

She remembered that she had not only not cooked dinner for Maria, but that she had also neglected Julie! In fact, when she had seen that Julie was drunk, she had assumed that Julie would sleep till dawn.

After all, every time Julie drank with Patricia, she would drink to the point of blacking out.

Now, Looking at Julie's discontent face, Lily couldn't help but tremble.

Vivian said in disbelief, "Mom...You let Maria cook for you?"

She had always thought that her mother disliked Maria, too.

As soon as the question left her mouth, Vivian smelled the aroma in the air and immediately recalled the noodles that whet her appetite last time. She stared at Lily, perplexed.

Wasn't that Lily's cooking?

"Maria is a good cook."

Julie pursed her lips as if she was recalling the excellent taste.

"Vivian, you should learn from Maria. You're already an adult, but you still can't do any housework.Come and wash this bowl for me."

Without so much as bothering to look at her daughter's reaction, Julie turned to Lily.

"I'm very disappointed with your performance.Half of your salary will be deducted this month."
