Chapter 23
Chapter 23:
? ? ? ? ?
Alicia was unable to react for a few seconds. She quickly sat up to hide the blood stain on her pants.
She then placed her hands demurely on her knees and looked at Caden, her eyes nervous. Right now, she looked like a child caught red-handed.
Caden looked at her over from head to toe and asked, “What are you trying to take? I know all about this car. “Ask.”
With a slight blush, Alice replied flatly: "I wasn't trying to catch anything."
Terrified that more blood would stain her trousers, she kept her legs tightly closed. However, the trembling in her voice, now higher in pitch, betrayed her anxiety.
Caden noticed this change, sensing that something was wrong, but he couldn't figure out what was bothering her.
When he noticed that his hands had turned pale from clenching, he asked, "Are you okay?"
Alice bit her lip. Her pride wouldn't let her admit what had really happened. "I'm fine," she murmured.
If it had been anyone else with her, she would have asked for help, regardless of their gender. But this was Caden. There was no way she was going to show her vulnerability to him.
Caden stared at her, as if he was scanning every part of her body. The way he looked at her made her feel like if he was trying to strip her, expose her.
Seconds later, Caden broke his silence. “Okay. I’m leaving, then.”
Alice blinked in confusion.
Caden had never explained himself, and his statement had an underlying meaning that she didn't quite understand.
She looked at him. His eyes were still indifferent.
As he was about to close the door, Alice leaned towards him and murmured, "Wait."
That subtle movement was enough to make the blood flow more freely.
Alice immediately got up from her seat, determined to stop the stain from spreading any further.
Caden immediately noticed the large red stain on the back of Alicia's pants.
“How embarrassing!” he thought to himself. With no way to hide, he stood awkwardly still for a moment before quickly glancing back at her.
Seeing her in this vulnerable state, Caden softened his expression.
With a kind smile, he asked, “Do you need my help?”
At that moment, Alice wasn't sure if he had realized what had happened. She looked down, bit her lip, and remained silent.
Knowing she was stubborn, Caden decided to give in. Otherwise, they might be stuck in an awkward silence all night.
He took off his jacket in a playful tone. “We've only met a couple of times, and you've already borrowed three of my clothes. Are you trying to monopolize them, Miss Bennett?”
His kind gesture caught Alice off guard. She felt a surge of emotions. How did this happen?
First it had rained and she had to borrow clothes from him. Then coffee had splashed on her clothes. And now this.
Why did she always find herself in embarrassing situations with him?
Alice tied her jacket around her waist to cover the stain. Mortified, she muttered her thanks and quickly got out of the car.
Caden raised an eyebrow. “Huh?”
Blushing with embarrassment, Alice replied in a barely audible voice: "Thank you."
"Can you speak louder? I can't hear you."
Alice knew he had heard her, but she glared at him and said, "Are you deaf? Didn't you hear me the first time?"
Caden smirked. “You're so arrogant with me, but when Lilliana sprayed you with coffee, you didn't say a word.”
Alice walked to the bathroom, a hint of a smile on her lips. “Revenge is a dish best served cold.”
He couldn't grab Lilliana by the hair and attack her in public. That wouldn't do any good.
There were far more dignified ways to get revenge on her.
As soon as Alice entered the restaurant, she spoke to a waitress and kindly asked her to buy her some pads.
The waitress agreed and went to fulfill the order.
"And bring her a new set of clothes in a small size," Caden added.
Alicia was surprised at how thoughtful Caden was being. She felt conflicted by his considerate gesture.
He handed the money to the waitress and said, “Please give it to me in the bathroom on the first floor, okay? “Thank you.”
"Yes, ma'am," the waitress replied.
Once Alicia left, Caden headed to the elevator.
Suddenly, Gerry appeared around the corner, his curiosity piqued. “Hey, mate. Where’s your jacket?”
Caden replied flatly, “Didn’t you see what happened?”
“So you admit it, huh?” Gerry scoffed. Just as the elevator arrived, Gerry followed Caden inside. “You two were in my car, got a little frisky, and now you're buying Alicia a new set of clothes because of some mess, right?”
Caden kept a neutral expression while Gerry pressed further. “Why did Alicia have to go to the bathroom? Did she forget to use protection?”
Caden still didn't respond.
Unfazed, Gerry speculated, “You're something else, Caden. Not only did you bypass the protection, you forced her to clean herself.”
With a grimace, Caden replied, “You know, Gerry, it's a shame you don't direct adult films.”
Gerry grinned from ear to ear. “Do you want to be my leading man?” he asked playfully.
“It would probably be your father,” Caden replied.
“You want a father-son role-playing game? Jesus Christ! That’s off limits, man,” Gerry replied, shaking his head.
When they reached the top floor, Caden stepped out of the elevator. “You always think the worst. I've only been gone for less than ten minutes. How could I have gotten to that point in such a short time?”
Gerry's eyes widened. “I appreciate you considering me a brother. “I’m glad you can so openly share personal details about your premature ejaculation,” he joked.
Caden glared at him.
Unfazed, Gerry added, "You were impotent before and now you're having a hard time finishing. Man, you've got it tough."
Caden couldn't take his idiocy any longer. He grabbed a glass of wine from the table and forced Gerry to drink it to shut him up.
About half an hour later, Alice came over to apologize. “Hi, I'm sorry about that. My period came early and I was late wiping.”Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Gerry raised an eyebrow and commented, “Your period? “Shame on you.”
Alice blinked in confusion. “Huh? Am I supposed to be in menopause already?”
