I was beyond disgusted.

“How could you do that to that poor girl?” Miro scoffed in disbelief, before running a hand over his shaved head. Then he left it there. “I can’t believe I wasted all these years trying to be like you.” He muttered, shaking his head in disappointment.
As expected, my father had a bored expression and could not be bothered. “I really don’t understand why you both can’t see that I did it all for you and my kingdom.”
“NO ONE ASKED YOU TO!” Miro exclaimed and Dutton stepped forward in warning. “You better get out of my face or I swear to the Goddess, you will join those mutants on the table.”
A deadly silence settled on us all as both men stood rigid, exchanging glares. My father began to pace back and forth with his hands on his waist. Apparently he had no remorse for what he had done.
“Father,” I called. “Leash your dog.”
Dutton snarled at me and I looked at him, confused.
“Are you high?” I asked, because obviously he’s forgotten who I am…or is there a reason why he’s suddenly so brazen?
“Look, everyone, calm down.” My father said with his palms up. Then his gaze fell on the workers in the lab. “You are all dismissed. Get out!”
Immediately, everyone in the vicinity left their workspace and left the room.
Only then did Dutton take a step back from Miro and stood watching us with glares.
“What’s this guy’s problem?” Miro mindlinked. “Something is seriously giving him more confidence now.”
“He probably has the serum injected.” I replied, assessing the one–eyed Beta. “If he thinks he’s stronger than us, he might be eager to push for a fight.” I replied.
“Ahh, I see. I’m going to kill him.”
I glanced at my brother. Something is off with him too, cause he rarely makes death threats unless he’s really pissed.
“Can’t you both see my sacrifices for our Kingdom?” My father snapped, catching both our attention.
“What’s sacrifices? You literally stole an orphan’s inheritance for your side project.” I answered.
My father’s fist curled in anger.
“When we’ve defeated Dominic and taken over the North, you’ll understand.”
I ran a hand through my hair before shoving it in my pockets. My entire body had begun to vibrate in anger but I forced myself to stay still. “I can’t understand anything past the fact that you and the other Elite families are thieves. You have honor and you disgust me.”
He ground his jaw in anger, his eyes flickering to black. “Now, watch your tone, boy!”
“Or what?!” I queried, taking a step forward. “After everything you did to that girl, you found out she’s my mate and u still had the audacity to deny her of me?!”
O
My father’s eyes went round in shock.
“Oh you thought I would find out?!”
“I had my reasons for that.”
“To hell with your reasons!” I snapped. “You had no right! The things you used Chelsea to do. How dare you?!”
“I AM KING!” My father yelled, his eyes glowing red. “I DO WHATEVER I WANT! YOU BOTH ARE MY PROPERTY! MY SOLDIERS!” He panted, letting his pointed finger move from me to Miro. “Letting you both think your lives were your own was my mistake from the start!”
I blinked in surprise and even Miro scoffed in disbelief.
Silence again settled on us and only the soft whirring of machinery permeated the air as we glared at each other. I could no longer see the stubborn King, or the overbearing father, instead I saw the man that abused Miro and I for over a decade.
“Wow.” I said, shaking my head in disbelief. “You’re beyond redemption.” I sighed. “That’s why I have decided to become King.”
From the corner of my eye, I saw Miro look my way. “Yes!” He muttered in support.
“What?!” My father frowned. “What are you saying?”
I cocked my head to the side. “Remember our bet?”
His eyes moved in thought.
“Ryn became an Elite. I won and it’s time for me to claim my win as King. You promised to step down if I won and your word is binding. So,” I took another step forward towards him. “In a week’s time, I want that crown,” I pointed to the one on his head, “and I want that throne.”
My father’s face went from surprise to a smug belittling look. “You think you can be a better king than me? You think you can rule the West better?”
“Yes.” I answered confidently, “because if you had not been incompetent, you would have had the sense to take care of Ryn from a young age. If you knew, you were hell bent on stealing her wealth, you would have given her such a good life that she wouldn’t have wanted for anything nor tried to be an Elite warrior.”
“Maybe then, she would never have found out about your hypocrisy.” I concluded.
My father worked his jaw as he took a deep breath and exhaled. Then he smiled, but his eyes said otherwise. “Is that what you would have done as King?”
“No. It’s what I would have expected of you. I am not a thief.”
My father’s smile faltered. “Well, it’s too late now. What’s done is done. So what do you plan to do when you become King?” Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
I smiled. “That’s my
business.”
“Don’t tell me you plan on letting that girl have access to my research!”
I remained silent, and that seemed to infuriate my father even more.
“I’m afraid I cannot let you become King.”
I took another menacing step closer to my father. “Why? You’re going to steal what’s mine from me too?”
My father raised his head so we were standing eye–to–eye. “I dont trust you around that girl. She can’t become your Luna.”

My father exhaled tiredly, rubbing the bridge of his nose. I love you son.” His voice softened. “Goddess know, I love you very much but these days, all you do is get on my nerves and I have had enough.” And with that said, while still contemplating what he meant, my Father pulled out a gun from Dutton’s side and shot me in the chest.
It all happened within seconds.
The pain was hot and searing but I was in disbelief. My father may have abused me and hurt me and starved me but he would never outrightly kill me? He would never kill his son.
I looked down at my chest, and when I saw my white shirt soaking through with blood, I realized my father was capable of ending my life. Suddenly, it became hard to breathe.
“You bastard!” Miro raged, and I watched him rush to attack our father but another shot rang out and Miro fell to his knees, gripping his neck. I saw blood rush out of his wound and I think that’s when instinct took over.
Prior to this moment, all weapons had been taken from us, so I had nothing else to defend myself….except my
wolf.
Channeling him, I let my hands grow into claws, and then I lashed out with the intent to claw out my father’s throat but I lost my balance and instead, my claws found his eyes.
He cried out in pain, dropping the gun and I fell to my knees, fighting to take another gulp of air.
Seeing the gun lying on the floor, I reached for it but instead, someone else beat me to it.
Wheezing through my mouth, I raised my darkening vision to see Dutton holding the gun over my head. “You have no idea how long I have waited to do this.” He said and then he pulled the trigger.
Another excruciating pain rippled through me and as I fell to the ground, I saw my brother, lying on the floor, holding his neck, still trying to breathe.
I tried to reach for him but I couldn’t move. All I could feel was Ryn’s cold pendant against my
skin.
I held on to that feeling, and thought of how much I failed Ryn and how my confidence put me in trouble.
Who will look after her now? Who will help her? I really hope her new friends do.
My vision suddenly went black and with my last breath, I prayed to the Goddess for Ryn.
AUTHOR’S NOTE: Things are going to get really intense from here and someone is going to start their villain era. I will go ahead and give you some peace of mind. No. The twins are not dead. They are just going to come back stronger… and meaner and oh, please pray for Ryn cause it will soon be time for her to lose that virginity. Oops! I have said too much.
