Chapter 162
Chapter 162
THEON
Three eighteen a.m. and I was standing with my hands in my pockets, watching a helicopter land in the distance.
Prior to this moment, I let Ryn and her friend go, and that did not make Alpha Jack happy at all.
But hey, who cares about a thief’s happiness, right?”
Right outside Alpha Jack’s Mansion, under heavy bright lights, Miro stood next to me, quiet, and that made me feel uneasy.
He’s usually sarcastic, and aloof, but ever since I told him about the conditions surrounding Ryn’s inheritance, he’s been quiet and withdrawn.
When I asked if he was okay, he gave a nonchalant shrug and said he was tired.
But that was it. Nothing else.
Even the twin bond we had told me nothing about what he was truly feeling.
Is my brother in love with Ryn?
Or is he upset that I found my second chance mate when he has not even found his first mate at all?
could totally understand that.
I pinched the bridge of my nose, wishing life were as simple as waking up in a different country every week for a business meeting or pack matter. Of course, I’d be coming home to my mate and the good life we’ve built for ourselves.
I just wish everything will be over all at once.
I need peace, not just for myself but also for my brother…..and for Ryn.
My father alighted from the helicopter along with one–eyed Dutton, and as he approached with a stern face and lips curled in a sneer, I could feel the heat of his rage from afar.
Immediately, I slipped on my defensive mental armor, and mentally nudged my brother to do the same.
I don’t know who this rage is directed at but when my father gets like this, it’s best to be prepared for anything.
Alpha Jack stood a few feet away, with one arm around his sulking daughter and when the King arrived, we all bowed to show respect.
Looking around at all of us, he turned to Jack.
“Where is she?”
Jack sent a glare our way, “Your sons let her go.”
My father stiffened before turning his stern
gaze on us. “Is that true?” He asked me.
“Yes.” I replied, casually. “I made a deal to protect him and his pack, not to make an arrest.”
“An arrest is also part of protecting so My father stated slowly as if I were slow.
“Oh. My Bad. Next time then.” I replied, loving how his forehead bulged with veins. His strained face contorted into a sadistic smile and for a moment, I felt a sliver of fear course through me.
Chapter 102
Growing up I had seen different variations of my father’s smile it this particular smile that seemed like he was in pain was the scariest of them all, because it shows my father is about to be a real son of a bitch.
He turned back to Alpha Jack. “I hope at least the documents are secure from her?”
The silence of the new morning did the answer as Alpha Jack opened his mouth and closed it nervously. He eventually sighed. “Your Highness, I lost it. He bowed his head.
*Why?*
“Well, your sons did not protect me like you asked them to. Instead they forced me to give Ryn access!”
“How could they have forced you?” My father queried. “Did you not have leverage over them?!”
“I did, your Highness but…”
“But what?!”
“They had my daughter.” Jack explained. “And I couldn’t let anything bad happen to her.”
Silence. Then my father sighed.
“I understand.” My father replied, “as fathers we have a duty to protect our children at all costs.”
Is this your daughter?”
“Yes, your Highness.” Jack replied and Billie, who had been standing next to her father unsure and nervous, stepped forward and bowed her head once more.
My father slid her hair away from the scarred part of her face and held her chin.
“Are you afraid of me?” My father suddenly asked, and Billie hesitated before nodding.
“Just a little, your Highness.” She said.
“Just a little.” My father chuckled and turned to the rest of us. “She’s scared, just a little. I guess I have grown too soft.”
With that said, in one swipe he swung his arm and clawed through her throat.
Silence, way thicker, deadlier and sharper setttled upon us all before Jack’s cry pierced the air.
Billie stood frozen, before coughing blood out of her mouth and as she fell, her father raced to catch her.
“Nooooo, my precious child!” Alpha Jack cried, cradling Billie in his arms and I shouldn’t feel a thing but I did. I felt sorry for Jack.
“That’s for thinking you can prioritize your child over MY express command.” The King growled, collecting a gun from Dutton. “This,” he looked me in the eye, while pointing the gun at Jack’s head, “let this be a reminder of how scared everyone should be of me, and when I say everyone, I mean everyone.”
And with that said, he pulled the trigger and the wailing Alpha’s head jerked forward before his body bowed over his daughter’s.
I stared at the sight, unable to take my eyes away.
I shouldn’t be surprised but I was, and as I watched my father clean his bloody hands with a hanky and throw it at their bodies, that familiar sliver of fear that haunted me as a kid came back.
Some of Alpha Jack’s men had been around to witness the act and most of them fell to their knees in dejection.

“Who is the Beta here?” My father suddenly asked, and a man who seemed to be in his late thirties reluctantly stepped forward. “What’s your name?”
“Brian Fletcher, your Highness.” He bowed slightly.
“Congratulations Brian, you just became the Alpha of….what’s the name of this pack again?”
“Loyalty Pack.”
“Ahh yes, indeed. So, whatever. Be a good lad, get some fuel and dowse these bodies for me.” My father said, pulling a cigar from his pocket and putting it to his lips.
That same pregnant silence settled on us all, as Brian left the premises and my twin and I watched our father smoke nonchalantly.
“Something about that inheritance has Dad really triggered.” Miro suddenly said in my head.
“Trust me, I know.” I mind–linked back. “I am just nervous about his next move. You know when he gets like this. It’s-”
“Pure disaster.”
“Exactly.”
“We need to give Ryn all the help she can get.”
“Even if that means working with mutants?” I asked, and Miro went quiet. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
“At this point, I don’t know which I hate more. Mutants or my father?”
“Easy, you decide who you prefer living and roaming the earth. Dad or mutants?” I asked.
“Ryn. I want Ryn to live and roam the earth.”
“Then you have to be ready to put your disgust aside and work with her…new friends.”
Miro exhaled hard. “I’ll need to think about that.”
Shortly after, Brian came and dowsed the Brohmers in fuel and when he was done, I watched the King, drag one last smoke before throwing the cigar at their bodies.
Instantly, they caught fire and as the bodies of father and daughter came ablaze, I heard the helicopter start up again.
“It’s time for us to go with Dad.” Miro said to me, drawing me out of my thoughts.
So I followed him out and when we entered the vehicle, my eyes met my father’s.
“Did you enjoy the show?” He asked.
“Not one bit.” I replied.
“Too bad.” My father sucked his teeth. “This used to be your kind of thing before that Ryn of a girl stepped in.”
I didn’t reply. I simply looked out the window, watching the faintest sign of a sunrise in the making.
Now I know where that fear comes from.
It’s not fear of my father. It’s fear of myself and the things I have done and if Ryn finds out, she might never look at me the same way again.
