The Seductress

“His name is Wayne miss… Wayne Anderson” Fiona says with a proud smirk. A long silence follows and she wondered if she’s probably hung up.

“Alright Fiona… I’d help you” She finally says as Fiona hungs her mouth open. Huh!, just like that!. She’s gonna pay for mom’s bills!.

“Oh my gee!… th.. thanks so much miss selene this… means a lot!” Fiona croaked out with her voice filled with emotions.

“That’s fine … I’m glad to help, I’ve got to go now. Send me the name of the hospital she’s admitted to alright?”. Fiona nods sheepishly.

“Uh… okay miss Selene, I’d do that right away!” She breaths out as Selene hangs up.

She plump down the bed in excitement. Holy shit! this ain’t real is it. She suck In her breath, wondering how Wayne would react. She couldn’t stop wondering why Wayne doesn’t seem to fancy her, why he was always pissed whenever she talked about her. He’s never one to judge easily, but he seems to be doing that to Selene. Fiona shrugs and swipe at her screen. She carefully chose her words as she texted Selene. Now the doctor can carry out the surgery. If there was anything she’d do to make sure her mom gets cured, she’d gladly do it. Even if it means being scolded by Wayne. Though she’s nineteen she couldn’t stop acting like a kid. Dropping the phone, she stood on the bed and started bouncing on it in excitement.

“Hi doctor Mac” Wayne smiles as he gets into his office. Fiona trails behind him with a huge smile on her face.

“Hey Wayne… have your seat” He gestures to the seat. He smiles at Fiona in greeting. Wayne nods and takes his seat wondering why doctor Mac seems happy to see him. Fiona leaned against the wall behind him, watching the smile on his face, could it be Selene already paid the bills!?.

“Uhmm… there’s real good news Wayne” Doctor Mac says as Fiona suck in her breath. Wayne sad mood seems to lift with those words.

“Really doc!. Is my mom alright now?” Wayne asks impatiently. He chuckles and shakes his head.

“No Wayne… but I’m certain she’s gonna be fine… and you don’t have to pay a dime for her treatment” He says with a smile.

“Huh…. Wh.. what do you mean doc….” Wayne archs his brows in confusion as he turns to glance at Fiona. Fiona feigns a surprised face and she bats her lashes.

“Surprisingly, we got a call this morning and a large sum of money was donated for your mother’s surgeries. She can get treated of her lung disease also and it’s more than enough to provide for all the meds she’s gonna use afterwards”

Wayne stares at him like he’s saying trash. Fiona gasps as she placed her palm over her mouth. Holy fuck!.. she never knew Selene would pay for all her mother’s treatment. Now not only would she get treated but she’s gonna get cured from her lung infection. Good God! Wayne rakes his hand at his hair in confusion, who the heck did this. This was certainly more than a generous offer and it’s seems kind of suspicious. Why would the person pay for only his mom’s bills.

“Alright doc, I think my head is gonna explode anytime soon from my endless thoughts. Who was the sponsor?” Wayne furrows his brows. Doctor Mac grins.

“It’s Selene … Wayne” Doctor Mac voice out as Wayne face takes on a dangerous look.

“What the fuck do you mean by Selene!” Wayne growls. Fiona heartbeat runs wild at Wayne’s reaction. Doctor Mac appears surprised.

“How do you mean Wayne… you don’t like the idea of her helping out!?” Doctor Mac asks in surprise., who the heck wouldn’t be happy about this!. Wayne shoves the chair away and push to his feet.

“Doctor Mac… Its sounds suspicious… how the heck did she know about my mom!?… my boss doesn’t know my family and Fiona… ” He pause mid sentence and dilates his eyes. Wayne whips his head to meet her gaze and her demeanor says it all.

“Fiona!… you’re the one behind this aren’t you!?” He seethed. Fiona bites down her lips and stare down at the marble tiles.

“Fuck!” Wayne cuss as he clenched his teeth.

“Wayne!… take it easy on her, I can see she meant no harm.. she wanted to help okay… I’d just leave you to to talk things out” He smiles and strides out of the office.

“Why the fuck would you do that Fiona!” Wayne grits out as soon as they were alone. Fiona looks up at him, cringing at his angry features. She barely saw him angry.

“I’m… sorry brother” She mutter lowly. Wayne stares at her in disbelief.

“Sorry!?…. you’re sorry!?… godammit it’s not about being sorry!. Why would you do such nonsense without my knowledge huh!” His voice was loud now and Fiona tries not to freak out.

“I thought you might not approve of it Wayne!… mom life was at stake and I needed to do something!” She falters as Wayne growls, raking his hand at his hair.

“Huh!?…. She wants you to work for her?” Fiona queries as she stared at him, gobsmacked. Wayne groans in exasperation.

“She freaking did!…. and you know what… I declined. I’m not about getting myself into her mess. She’s got something up her sleeves I’m sure of that Fiona….. we aren’t accepting that cash!” Fiona bats her lashes and chuckles bitterly.

“Why didn’t you accept the offer wayne… she pays well and you know it!… how the heck do you know she’s bad if you barely know her!… mom’s life is at stake and you’re planning on returning the cash…. it seems like you barely care about mom’s health!” Fiona blurts out in anger. He walks towards her and holds her by the arm.

“Look here Fiona… That cash is a Greek offer, hell!, she ain’t giving that willingly. She wants something in return!.. Working with her is not possible okay!?” Fiona bites down at her lips and scoff.

“And why the hell are you refusing to work for her huh?… I know you’ve always hated her Wayne but I don’t care!. I suggest you put your ego aside for once and accept the cash!” Why does he have to be so difficult dammit!. Wayne sucks in his breath. This was ridiculous.

“I’ve always told you to believe Fiona… where the hell is your believe that I’d provide the cash!?” She shakes her head and snatched her arm from his grasp.

“No Wayne!… I do believe that you could put away your hate for Selene and work for her… accept the damn money and stop your egoistic attitude” She watches his expression and it’s unreadable. Fiona run her palm down her hair and storm to the door.

“I’d go check up on mom” She says and step out, slamming the door hard behind her. Wayne stared at the door clenching his fist to push down his anger. He knew Fiona was only trying to help, but why did she have to choose Selene. And to think that Selene accepted to help is making his head throb. The door opens and it reveals doctor Mac. Wayne puffs out and sits on the chair.

“Wayne… I hate to admit this but I think Fiona did the right thing. Your mom’s health is gradually deteriorating and it may get worse if we take longer. I know how you feel Wayne, it feels kinda intimidating to accept such offer from a lady… but you’ve got to accept the fact that you can’t come up with the cash easily…” Wayne pauses as his words hits him hard. He sighs lowly. Quite alright this was intimidating, but could he provide all the expenses?. He had just half the payment. How about her lung disease. He leans back into his chair.

“For the sake of my mom doctor….. I’m gonna let her pay” Doctor Mac smiles in admiration. Wayne has always been so responsible and coupled with his good looks, he’s sure girls would probably go overboard to be with him.

“I’m glad you made a good decision Wayne… now you just need to sign the papers and we’re gonna proceed with the surgeries right away” Doctor Mac slides the medical documents across him. Wayne looks down at it and sighs. He’s gonna pay back the money. Wayne sucks in his breath as he grips at the pen he held. And even if it meant putting aside his ego and working for Selene.

Wayne stares at himself in the full length mirror as he knots his tie. He never imagined he’d decide to finally work for her. But after yesterday.. he couldn’t avoid it. If there’s any way to pay for what she’d done, he’d do so. He had called Zach and told him he’s accepted to work for her. Zach was probably off the top with excitement. The door to his room creaks open after a knock and Wayne sighs without turning back. Fiona had been sulking ever since yesterday’s incident. He felt bad, knowing she was only doing so for thier mom’s wellbeing but he had scolded her anyways.

“You’re never gonna learn how to knot your tie perfectly are you?” Fiona teases as she walked to him. He chuckles and turn to face her. She giggles and adjusts the tie well till it was properly done.

“There you go handsome as ever” She winks as he rolls his eyes. Fiona bites down at her lip.

“I’m sorry for acting rudely yesterday Wayne” She mutters pouting up at him. He chuckles and turns to face the mirror again.

“I should be apologizing Fiona… I should have understood the reasons for your actions… but you should have informed me all the same” He rolls his eyes as he combs out his hair. Fiona chuckles.

“Im sorry for not letting you know… but sometimes Wayne you forget I’m nineteen… stop treating me like a kid for fuck sake arrgh!” she palm her cheeks as they laugh. He checks out himself in the mirror before turning back to her.

“You’d always be my little one Fiona… even if you grow old and toothless” He pulls at her cheeks playfully.

“Whatever… off to work huh?” She still couldn’t believe Wayne declined Selene offer to work for her. Wayne sighs and itches his hair, deciding on telling her. She could probably freak out.

“Yeah… I’m off to work… c’mon let me drop you off at the hospital” He says and they walk out of the room. Fiona grabs the flask of food she made for her mom.

“Are you picking Zach up immediately?” She trail behind him as they walk out. Wayne groans and turns to meet her.

“Okay Fiona….. I don’t want you to freak out but I’m resuming work at Diamond corps…” Fiona bats her lashes.

“You mean the company… owned by Selene!” She squeaks out and tightens her grip on the flask of food. Wayne rolls his eyes.

“You got that right, now let’s head out I’m running late” He strides out of the room and groans when Fiona excited scream rang out in the apartment.

Selene sucks in her breath as she waited anxiously for Wayne. Zachary has texted her that he finally accepted. She chuckle and smoothen down her hair. He’s got such a cute sister anyways. Maybe it was her lucky charm that finally led him into working for her, though she paid for their mom’s medical bills out of love. She’s never experienced the love of a mother. Being in the orphanage with lots of homeless kids sure has it disadvantages. The door opens after a knock and Gwen steps in. Selene smiles at her. She had told Gwen she’d be hiring a new secretary but had given her the place of a chef though. Gwen makes the nicest coffee and prepares tasty meals she couldn’t afford loosing her. Gwen although a bit sad, had finally cheered up when Selene retained her as the chef.

“He’s here ma’am” She says mischievously “And he’s a total hottie too” She added and smirked. Selene rolls her eyes dramatically.

“You have a family Gwen… let him in” She ordered as Gwen laughs quietly and close the door after stepping out. Selene leans back into her seat as the door open seconds later. She watch him step in and a sigh escapes her lips. Why does one has to be this cute. She puts up a smile as he stands, checking her out. Okay he’s got to stop this intense looks, it’s making her hot down there. She run her palm down her hair. She parts her mouth to speak but shut it almost immediately. Damnit Selene don’t tell me you’re lost for words!…
