Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Chapter 13 Be Injured

“Evelyn… How long do you plan to continue acting with me? Or is there another goal you haven’t

achieved? Is that piece of land not enough? The document that determines the life or death of The

Wilson Group is in the safe, and the password…”

“I don’t want to listen.!” Evelyn urgently covered her ears.

The man’s voice was hoarse, seemingly carrying a severe injury. Sharp questions pierced Evelyn like a

sword.

She knew he must have misunderstood her return to the hospital.

“I won’t listen. I won’t listen.” Evelyn shook her head frantically. “Henry, please, don’t say it. I don’t want

to know. I don’t want to hurt you. The events of this afternoon were a misunderstanding. I can explain,

really, I can explain everything.”

“Heh!”

A cold, scornful laugh sprayed down, making Evelyn tremble like a sieve.

“Believe me, Henry, believe me.”

Evelyn, with red eyes, murmured with a faint voice.

The only response in the living room was dead silence.

After a while, Henry spoke as if pronouncing a new crime for her.

“Evelyn, stay here. I’ll believe you if you stay here.”

Stay here?!

She instantly thought of the months he had kept her locked up in the villa in her previous life. No

anyone else, no computer, no phone, not even allowed to step out of the room.

He said he would no longer give her freedom.

He said, “Evelyn, even if it’s hell, I’ll take you with me.”

That was the first and only time Henry showed no tolerance, no indulgence, and no compliance

towards her.

She didn’t want to live like that again.

In this new life, she just wanted to stand by his side.

Henry understood her panic and resistance. He couldn’t help but soften a bit. Just as he was about to

approach, Evelyn rushed into the kitchen.

“Please, don’t lock me up.” Evelyn’s terrified expression stunned him, and she inadvertently retreated

to the stove.

The kettle on the stove with the water still boiling. Occasionally, a few drops fell on Evelyn’s wrist, but

she seemed not to feel it.

“Evelyn!”

Evelyn, frightened, moved backward, the kettle falling. In an instant, Henry enveloped Evelyn in his

arms.

Her arm felt as if it had been scalded. Henry must be in even more pain.

“Henry, how are you? Where did you get burned?”

“I’m fine.”

Evelyn didn’t believe him. She struggled with all her might in Henry’s arms.

“Evelyn, I’m fine, really.” Henry frowned in pain, still patiently comforting her. “Be good. I’ll take you to

the hospital.”

After taking her to rinse in cold water, Henry made a call to David to arrange for a doctor.

Just as David answered, his urgent voice came through.

“Boss, I was just about to contact you. The hospital sent a message. William had a car accident

because of a flat tire, and it seems… It seems Madam intentionally punctured the tires when she

returned to the hospital in the afternoon. We might have misunderstood Madam.”

Henry’s body stiffened, and he could no longer hear what was being said on the other end of the line.

His mind was filled with images of the injury on Evelyn’s arm and her panicked expression.

Damn it!

What had he done just now!

“Ten minutes, arrange the best specialist for burns,” he ordered urgently.

Burn!!!

The boss wouldn’t have done something unforgivable to Evelyn?

As David listened to the cold, busy signal on the phone, feeling resigned, and called the hospital

director.

In the hospital.

After the burn was treated with cold water, the pain had eased a bit. Evelyn glanced at the slightly

swollen area on her arm, then looked at the group of people, including experts, doctors, and nurses.

They were discussing her condition.

Henry, completely focused on Evelyn, asked the doctor anxiously, “How is the wound? Will it scar? Will

there be an infection?”

The hospital director, trying to ease the tension, reassured him, “Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Wilson’s arm swelling

will subside in a day or two, and those blisters…”

The director hesitated for a moment, and the experts and doctors quickly continued, “I think we can Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.

directly puncture them, squeeze out the fluid inside; it will heal faster.”

“Puncturing is prone to scarring. It’s better to use a needle to draw out the fluid and then apply

medicine.”

“Or…”

The group of people argued back and forth. Evelyn, feeling overwhelmed, was about to reject their

suggestions when suddenly her eyelids became heavier,.

Henry moved forward, gently supporting her.

“Are you sure this medicine won’t harm her body?” He questioned the director, his eyes piercing.

The hospital director assured him, “This medicine is the latest stabilizer developed in M State. It has no

harm to the body. She’s just sleeping deeply. Even when we puncture these blisters, she won’t feel any

pain.”

“Proceed.”

He stood by Evelyn’s side throughout the procedure.

After midnight, he received a text message on his phone.
