THE NANNY AFFAIR

The news shattered me to a million pieces, as my mind drifted away, that’s when I remembered Riya’s mom, (Mrs. Veronica), immediately I put off the scared look and drove to the exact place, she opens the door and was startled to see me after a few hours spent with her, “son!! Are you with Riya? What’s wrong?” I figured she noticed the deplorable demeanor hovering over me.

“So!! What’s going on?” After a few headcounts she lets out to me, I ducked up my head, pulled out a stool, and says, “ma’am!! What I am about to tell you, promise me, not to scream”.

Veronica promised and pushed a response, so I said, “after we got home, Riya and I, had a little heated conversation and when I veered my back to leave!! She was gunned down at home”.

“Wait!! What” she dips up and attempted to stroll out in a hurry, but I stopped when I pulled her back, “calm down ma’am!! Do you forget that Elena doesn’t know anything about you, still being alive, I need to find a way to get you to the hospital without being noticed, so you save Riya, she needs a blood transfusion.

We both ran deep in thought, trying to find a way out, “I got it?” After a while, Veronica yells out, attaining my attention.

“What!! How ?” Curiosity wrapped around my face, she says, “there’s no time to explain, I just need you to go down the nearest store and get me a pair of glasses and hat”.

I had no idea what cooked inside her head, so without hesitation, I rushed outside and a few seconds later, strolled back in to notice the doors to her apartment were knocked out of their place.

“Veronica” I called out, yet no response, that when my eyes drifts away and took notice of her lying lifeless on the floor.

“Oh my goodness!!! Veronica”.

Several attempts to get her up, failed, the neighbors came out and saw me in such a deplorable mood, so many things ran through my mind, what happened after I left? Who killed her and what the hell will I tell Riya, when she finally gets to find out the truth?.

The police barged in and still meet me in the same way, “Mr. Andres Khan, you are under arrest for the murder of Mrs. Veronica Lewis”.

“Huh”. I was so engrossed with the whole situation, my words immediately disappeared, I didn’t know what to say and how to defend myself, as they dragged me out of the apartment and straight to the police station.

“Get in” like a criminal the officer in charge nudged me into the cell and locked me up with the rest of the criminals, still wasn’t able to alter a word to them.

Somehow the press found out about the incident and within a short limited time, the entire police station was filled with reports, they managed to get in and took photos of me locked up behind bars.

(They all yelled out at once)

“Mr khan, what can you say about the allegations made against you!! Did you truly murder Mrs. Veronica Lewis, or is someone trying to get you framed”.

(Inaudible conversation)

They all bombarded me with a lot of questions, I locked my hands out of resentment, deep down I feel I knew who’s behind this?.
