Chapter thirty-five
With a satisfied smirk on my lips, I walked over to the room that Vincenzo and I now share. I managed to sneak out of Colton’s room carefully, making sure not to attract any suspicious stares. Being acknowledged as Vincenzo’s mate and bearing his mark, it’s perfectly fine for us to share the same room. They believe that being close will strengthen our mate bond even more.
Mate bond….. What a joke!
As I twisted the doorknob and quietly walked into the room, I was suddenly startled by a deep voice from the far end. “Where have you been?”
Sighs.
With an eye roll, I quickly pushed away the chill in my gaze and turned to face him. A sad smile formed on my lips as I responded, “Are you doubting my every move now?” I asked him, seductively swarming my hips side to side as I walked up to him.
I struggle to suppress the smile threatening to break through my lips as I notice his eyes tracing my hips as he emerges from the shadows near the bar. Slowly, he approached, stopping just inches away, his expression softening. “It’s not possible, sweetheart,” he murmured. “I only came in and met your absence,” he added.
“I was bored, so I thought I’d take a stroll around the pack grounds,” I explained, ending with a melancholic smile.
With a sigh, he took a step closer, mirroring the sadness on my face. “It’s my fault, sweetheart. I’ve realized I haven’t been giving you the attention you deserve lately,” he admitted. My gaze flickered with a mischievous glint before it vanished in an instant.
I gazed into his eyes, feeling a rush of disgust as he delicately held my hands and caressed them. His lips brushed against my skin, leaving a tingling sensation. “You’re too kind to me, Ava,” he whispered, pulling me closer. The intoxicating scent of him filled my senses, irritating me even further.
His scent was undeniably captivating, but my mind was preoccupied with something else. “You smell amazing, damn amazing, but right now I’m not in the mood for that,” I confessed. “Can you tell me what’s been bothering you?” I asked, noticing his sudden freeze and the tightening grip of his hand on mine.
His hesitation only fueled my curiosity, confirming my suspicion that he was hiding something. It wasn’t just about the vampire king; there was more to it, something he wasn’t telling me. The air crackled with unspoken secrets.
“Still caught up in that beast of a king?” I casually remarked, pretending to be oblivious. He nodded, unaware of the icy undertone in my voice. A fleeting hint of coldness flickered in my eyes, but vanished in an instant, replaced by a blank smile.
A smile that confirms that he is lying. A smile that confirms my suspicion. A smile that he is keeping something from me.
What are you hiding, Vincenzo?
“Don’t worry, it’s not your fault that I’m feeling bored,” I reassured him, gently patting his cheeks. “This is just one of those challenging moments,” I purred, stepping closer and resting my head on his chest.
Pushing you to open up, Vincenzo, might raise some suspicions, but remember, I have a knack for uncovering secrets. It’s only a matter of time before I find out what you’re hiding.
As he tenderly rubbed my back and gently stroked my head, his words whispered in my ear, “I understand, Ava. Starting today, I promise to make more time for you,” he murmured, planting a soft kiss on my head.
A mischievous smirk crept across my face, a glint of mischief dancing in my eyes. The closer, the better. I’ve held you in my grasp before, but now you seem just out of reach.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
This that might be consuming your mind must be that serious to have depleted your attention from mine.
“Sure,” I whined, my voice filled with playful annoyance. “Yes, darling,” he whispered back, his words dripping with affection.
With a seductive smile, I pulled off and gazed deeply into his eyes, letting my orbs pour their longing. “I miss you, Vincenzo,” I whispered.
“I miss you even more,” he smiled, leaning in to steal a quick peck on my lips. I responded with a small smile, our eyes locked in a moment of adoration. Giving him the look that he wanted to see, he pulled me closer, allowing my head to rest against his chest once more.
“Come here,” he mumbled, his heart racing as I nestled my head against his chest.
However, the room was enveloped in darkness, the only source of light being a faint glow from the moon seeping through a crack in the curtains. We stood silently, our presence filling the space with unspoken words. The air was heavy with anticipation, as if the room itself held its breath, waiting for the moment when those words would finally break free.
Right now, all I can think about is taking that next step. Emma was right though, the love just wasn’t there. It’s always been Colton. Even though we’re not mates, what we share is beyond any bond. I’m certain that if the opportunity ever arises, both of us would reject our mates to be together.
You might be wondering why I took the risk of being with someone I never loved. Well, let me tell you, it’s crystal clear. I’ve always aimed for the top. I mean, I’m the daughter of a Gamma! I used to protect Emma from bullies under my watch, and now she’s suddenly mated to an Alpha? No way! It just doesn’t add up!
Not happening.
She can’t just rise above me like that. She’s supposed to be damn below me. But you know what? Getting rid of her was a breeze. And come to think of it, I actually owe those vampires a favor. Their presence helped me out in a twisted way without them knowing it. That mutt? They shredded her into pieces that day, saving me the stress! It’s like the moon goddess herself was on my side, making the whole task way simpler than I ever expected.
“I miss you, sweetheart,” he sighed, his voice breaking the silence. I smirked and leaned deep into his touch.
Is just for a few more times, dear, and everything will fall into the way I wanted. I can do this! I smiled and leaned further into him. I owe you now, Vincenzo and I choose to treat you how I wanted.
