Chapter forty-two
It’s been three weeks, and that monster still hasn’t shown up. Sofia keeps throwing side talks and trying to get in my way each time, but I’ve been ignoring her. I have a target and that is to escape.
Though it’s a relief to be out of the slave quarters now. I can finally take this chance to figure out a way to escape from this place.
Serena has insisted that Alessandro wants me to work exclusively for him, which strikes me as odd. Sighing, I continued with arranging the bed, inside the demon’s room. His fragrance lingered here, swirling around the room and entering my nostrils, triggering various erotic thoughts about us.
And this is why I hate entering his room, his scents are always everywhere.
I inhaled sharply and carefully ran my finger along the heavy blanket. The sensation evoked vivid images of us entwined, naked on top of it.
Damnit!
“No. No. No,” I shouted, snapping out of the trance, wrapping my arms around myself as I quickly pulled away from the bed. “Emma… Pull yourself together. This is a monster, an enemy.”
I kept repeating in my head, even though I felt this irresistible urge to grab his clothes and breathe in his scent.
All of a sudden, the door swung open, and I jumped up, feeling startled as I spun around to face the intruder, only to be met by those deep black eyes.
“Uh… Good morning,” I stammered suddenly, cautiously observing him. Alessandro locked the door and proceeded deeper into the room, his eyes fixed on mine.
“Something on your mind?” a sly smirk played on his lips as he strolled past me and casually settled on the bed, and started to remove his shoe.
Oh no! Not on this exact bed.
Looking at him on the bed, I gulped hard and quickly averted my gaze to push the images away. “Pull yourself together, Emma,” I muttered to myself. He grinned as if he could hear my thoughts. Just then, I heard a voice in my head again, “You seem both nervous and aroused, my love,” he pointed out the obvious, causing me to turn my head sharply towards him.
Love?? But wait, did I just hear a voice right now?
My gaze widened, “Did… Did you just say something?” I nervously inquired, fearing the response.
This marks the second time I’ve heard a mysterious masculine voice in my head.
What is going on? Am I gradually losing it?
He stops what he was doing and lifts his head to gaze at me, with a perfect eyebrow c***d. My palms started to sweat as I awaited his response.Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Yes, I did. Is there a problem?” he questioned.
“That’s not possible,” I quickly objected, my eyes wide with fear and confusion. How can he communicate in my mind? That usually happens when there’s a special connection with the person, like a pack bond or mate.
But in this situation, we both share no connection so how is that possible?
Seeing my expression, Alessandro smirked and deftly took off his other shoe before rising to loom over my petite frame as he approached. His posture and presence are intimidating, causing me to instinctively step back.
“Let’s get one thing straight, dog. I bought you so I own you even without the money I still own you,” he stated firmly.
Glaring at him, I shrieked. “You don’t own me, we have no sort of connection so how come you can talk in my head and even read my emotions? That is only done with mates!” I snapped but immediately stopped at the last word as what I said kept reechoing in my mind.
No way… I can’t be mated to this monster! A vampire and our kind being fated together is unheard of. “Could this telepathic communication be one of the vampire’s unique abilities?” I pondered silently, meeting his gaze, which remained blank and unreadable, leaving me unable to discern his thoughts.
At this point, my back is pressed against the wall as he steadily advances towards me, leaving me with no escape route.
He trapped me with one of his hands beside my head on the wall as I gazed up at him. My heart raced, thumping rapidly, and he appeared angry as if struggling to control himself. His eyes shifted between black and his beastly color.
I held my breath as his face drew nearer to mine, our lips almost touching as he hissed, “You are MINE,” emphasizing the last word. His gaze traveled from my parted lips to my chest, which darkened under his scrutiny. Nervously, I swallowed, feeling fear and confusion, as he closed the distance between us.
He kissed my neck suddenly, and a surge of electricity coursed through my body, causing me to unintentionally moan. “Damn…!” I quickly closed my mouth, my eyes widening in shock. Was that really me? I sounded like those pornstars.
At that moment, memories of his previous actions flooded my mind…. His huge dick down my throat and instinctively, I pushed him away. I hurried to the other side, desperate to put some distance between us.
My heart heaved up and down in panic.
I blurted out, my voice raised, “We might be enemies, and I might be stuck in your domain, but that doesn’t give you the liberty to touch my body how you wish!” I glared at him, frustration evident in my tone.
“You’re mine,” he stated with a glare, his expression unyielding.
“That’s the problem, I’m not yours!” I shouted. “You keep claiming ownership, explain how I belong to you. You think you can purchase me as your plaything with millions… NEVER!” I declared sharply and earnestly.
Immediately the word fled out of my lips, his eyes flashed golden, reflecting his inner beast. “You’re more than that to me. I acquired you because you’re…” He trailed off, his gaze reverting to its black hue abruptly. “You know what, just leave,” he muttered, rubbing his jaw in frustration.
Glaring at him, I rushed to the door before he could change his mind. As I opened it, I saw Lucas on the verge of knocking. He hesitated, his hand frozen mid-air as he glanced at me and then Alessandro. Without waiting for him to speak, I hurried out.
“Why is my life always so complicated?” I mused.
First, my mate rejected me, and my best friend betrayed me. Now, an enemy, a vampire king, claims me as his own. No, I need to take action, but strangely, my body, heart, and mind yearn for him.
And somehow I feel like he is telling the truth, I don’t know but oddly I feel attracted to him.
“This is terrible,” I was lost in thought when bam! I collided with a rock and landed square on my butt.
“Ugh,” I groaned, massaging my sore rear as I looked up, only to meet those innocent black eyes.
“Aristide,”
“Sorry for causing you to fall.” He apologized, smiling down at me with his right hand extended.
“It wasn’t a rock but him,” I realized as I stared at his extended hand.
