THE LIE: DECEPTION TO THE CEO

Christopher’s parents complained to the lawyers for not having informed them in a timely manner about their son’s detention. They felt that suddenly, they could have done something on the spot to stop him from being detained.

His mother, Maddie Wood, had been an ambassador to four countries. His father Ozzi Morillo, a successful and famous architect, who has had links with the governments of his country and author of the most emblematic modern constructions. Both are well known, powerful and elite people in Santiago de Leon.

Obviously, they were both concerned about what was happening with their son, as they did not want to see him exposed to scandal or public scorn. He has always been an enterprising, innovative, prosperous young man, who has not needed them to get ahead.

-Let’s call the Minister! -Maddie commented, totally worried about her son. But not before asking, “What is the cause for which he is in prison, Christopher? -she asked worriedly.

-Because Miss Amber denounced him for violating the minimum essential services of the company, when the workers were exercising their right to strike,” added one of the lawyers.

-We made Christopher see, when he ordered the hiring of new personnel, that this was an illegal act because he was violating the prohibitions established by law. But he told us that “he who made the law, made the trap” that we should resolve it -explained another of the lawyers.

-For arrogance! -exclaimed his mother.

Thus, the third lawyer, obeying her orders, informed them of everything that had happened since Amber was released from jail. Apparently, according to Christopher’s words, she is taking revenge on him.

-But revenge for what? -Maddie added confused. “Christopher never explained to us why he broke up with Amber. I don’t believe that he had taken information out of the company to favor others. But he let himself be convinced by other people.

-Mrs. Maddie, there was compelling evidence against Miss Amber that convicted her,” said one of the lawyers.

-Even so, I don’t believe it! -In any case, let me call the Minister, to see if he can help me,” she commented, withdrawing to speak privately, while her husband stayed with the lawyers.

After about ten minutes, she came out more worried than she already was because nothing could be done and he was to be under arrest for thirty days. He apparently stood up, threatened and hit the public official when he was arrested.

-That’s what the official says! But those who were there affirm that Christopher at no time hit anyone,” answered another of the lawyers.

-All of us are aware of how Christopher gets, when he gets angry,” his mother said, “Suddenly, he swung his hands because when he gets angry he gesticulates a lot, threatens, shouts and that is where the consequences come from,” agreed his mother, who knew him better.

The following day

Christopher’s parents, very early in the morning, accompanied by the lawyers and with a special permission, granted by the Director of the Detention Center, visited him. When they observed that he was in a special enclosure, out of the reach of the common prisoners, they felt calmer.

Christopher spoke with his father, informed him of everything and asked him to supervise the work, so that no one else would be hired. So that the minimum conditions of the workers would be respected and that they would exercise their rights. Meanwhile, his mother cried when she saw him locked up.

-Mother, calm down! I’m fine, I’m just not free, but otherwise I feel fine,” he repeated, reassuring his mother, who embraced him as soon as he entered, kissed him and began to cry without letting him go.

-It hurts me so much to see you here, you don’t deserve this! -she growled angrily and claiming -Why did Amber do this? Tell me,” she asked with a pleading look in her eyes.

-What have they told you? Don’t believe everything that is said on the nets this is no one’s fault, only mine. I didn’t want to abide by what was established in the law,” he answered, so as not to worry her any more, nor to make her participate in the bad intentions Amber had against him.

When the hour that they were given for this special permission expired, an official announced that the visit was over. More out of fear than anything else, the director, watching her back in case Amber showed up, did not allow them to spend more time with him.

When they left, the Director herself visited him, since she was going to make the most of any opportunity to carry out her plan of conquest with him.

-How do you feel? -she asked, in a sweet and melodic voice.

-Well, Glenys! Thank you for this support and for not allowing me to be taken to a common cell. I am infinitely grateful to you, I owe it to you! He confirmed, with a half-smile.

“So I owe you an invitation to dinner, to the most luxurious restaurant in Santiago de Leon, when I get out of here,” he informed smiling.

-Then, be sure that I will charge you for it,” she answered with a wide smile, “For whatever you need, I am here. I have placed special guards for you, to prevent anyone with bad intentions from approaching you.

-Do you think anyone here would want to harm me? -he asked incredulously.

-Remember what happened with Amber, now she knows how everything is, she can send you to do the same to get even. In any case, I’m not going to take any chances,” she assured leaving the room towards the management, kissing him goodbye on the cheek.

-Thank you! -he replied, concentrating on his thoughts.
