CHAPTER SEVENTEEN.

Christine’s Pov.

He was seated as a prince about to give the worst kind of judgement. Everyone was seated, his mother sat at the farthest end of the living room but she still had a clear view of what’s about to happen.

Was there a need to call the whole maids? There were about hundreds of them who didn’t even have access to the living room talkless of the main room and the second floor.

My heart was weeping and pounding in fear, who could have done this?

At this crucial time when my life isn’t any better, a daughter of a thief for that matter.

He chewed on his gum stylishly and checked on his iPad, he touched his airpod as if to connect something and spoke to someone on the phone.

“I’ll be there in a jiffy, don’t choose the wrong one before I arrive.

Damn it Edward, I need a diamond!!

In Fact, you know what…forget it, I’m coming right away!!”

He disconnected his airpod and raised his head to stare at all of us.

He wore an earring today, Good Lord…he was dazzling!

He wore a milky brown jacket with black polo in it. His sneakers was the classiest brown I’ve ever come across with, It was neat and sporty and his black blazers did justice to his body. He looked like a model ready to pose for an international magazine.

“I would go straight to the point cause I’ve got a workload of things to do. I woke up to discover that my favourite diamond necklace is missing” he said, earning gasps from everyone.

“It was in my room, on the shelf.”

Now everyone turned to look at me. I was dumbstruck, I felt cold sweat running through me and my eyes were beginning to see things differently.

I didn’t see any diamond necklace while cleaning up. I cleaned the top of the shelf and I didn’t see anything, I was the only one that kept going in to clean his room for the past few days, so it’s normal for everyone to look at me, what’s not normal is them staring at me as if I took the necklace.

“I need some explanation for that right away!!” Fanuel said calmly, waiting to explode the next minute.

Everywhere was dead silent, they were still staring at me.

My voice cracked and crooked when I tried to speak.

“I.. didn’t see any necklace.”

“So I’m lying right? I’m spewing rubbish huh!!”

“I never said that.” I told the raging Fanuel whose eyes were blazing ready to unleash its venom.

“Okay, what are you trying to say? That a ghost went Inside the room and took my fucking necklace that cost twelve thousand euros, are you for real”

“I don’t know what happened to the necklace, I didn’t take it.”

Tears were already lacing my fragile eyes.

“Shut the fuckup you thief!! For the past few days, you were the only one lurking around the room in search of greener pastures, always checking me out like some medal.. but my instincts were always right, you needed something for yourself.

I warned Mum and Jayden but they won’t listen!!”

“I’m telling the truth, it’s high time you found a solution to the problem of Hudson’s chemical technologies not shifting blame to an innocent girl.”

“Oh really how sweet! Innocent? You call this psychopath thief innocent, has she also stolen your senses from you?”

“Say whatever you want to say Fanuel, but I think it’s high time you got married and have a good rest.”

“You don’t tell me what to do!!”.

“I’m your brother Fanuel, you’re stressed. And even if your diamond necklace was found right now, it won’t do you any good.”

Fanuel turned back to me, and sneered disgustingly but cute at the same time.

“You liked the necklace didn’t you? Just return that one, I will get another diamond necklace with your name inscribed on it.”

“I don’t need any necklace from you and I didn’t take your necklace.”

” You bloody liar!!”

“I’m not lying!!” I fired back with tears rolling down freely.

“We will see about that, Cole!!” He called one of his men who appeared before him.

“Search all of them!! I will search for this one myself!!” He said looking intently at me, causing chills to run through my body.

“I TOOK IT!! I STOLE THE NECKLACE!”

“Laurel!” I gasped in horror as she fell flat on her face and wailed.

“What the actual fuck Laurel!!” Fanuel yelled in disappointment.

“I’m sorry boss, I was overwhelmed by the necklace.”

“You’ve been here for years and you’ve been seeing that same necklace, why now!! This is so unbelievable right now. Get her out Cole, I would have sacked her and have her over to the authorities immediately but….

Just take her out, she’s banned from entering inside.”

I couldn’t believe my ears right now, I cried. No way would Laurel do such!

She stared at me deeply and murmured some words to me while she was being dragged out and I felt really confused. What’s going on?

“Be careful” I could read her lips well and that’s what she said.

“Hey” Fanuel called and I turned.

Maybe he wants to apologize after lashing me to shreds a few minutes ago, proud and cocky bastard.

Jayden couldn’t stop staring at the spot where Laurel was taken, Diana looked shocked and she was lost in thoughts.

“Get inside and get this trash off you, you’re going out with me right now.” My stomach somersaulted, He wasn’t referring to me was he?

I turned around to look at the person he was talking to but everyone was staring at me in awe.

“Are you deaf or something?!!”

“Be nice Fanuel!!”

“Shut up Jayden and Everyone of you should get the hell out, as for you, you have just five minutes to change up”

I fled to my room straight away and calmed my breaths.

Are we going out together?

My mind was in torrents of confusion, Mrs Hudson didn’t get to say a word, she was just there with her fan enjoying the view.

I raised the gown off me to change into my favourite strapless black gown when something shiny fell down from my pockets.

I gasped in horror and shifted backwards.
