The Good Girl's Revenge

Chapter 587

Chapter 587

Derek lowered his head. He should have said something tough to deny Meredith.

However, he couldn't say it out.

He didn't want Meredith to think that he was a control freak anymore.

She kept asking him for respect, so he couldn't be like who he used to be.

Parker was indeed much gentler than him.

If it hadn't been for him, she wouldn't have suffered so much. He wanted to abort their child, which

drove her crazy. And at her most difficult time, it was Parker who saved her and took care of her after

she got postpartum hemorrhage.

At that time, he was still careless and casual at the engagement. Although it was held for her, this could

not be his excuse.

So, Parker deserved Meredith's trust.

However, he was reluctant to let her go.

The silence lasted a long time. As Meredith was almost having difficulty breathing due to the

embarrassing atmosphere, Derek looked up at Meredith's eyes and said, "Okay, I accept what you

said."

Meredith's eyes flashed with surprise when she heard this.

She knew that Derek had always been suspicious about Parker. If it had been before, he would have

been furious and questioned their relationship. However, he was calm to accept it now.

Meredith clenched her lower lip subconsciously.

She found that this man was the same as before, who always made her confused and puzzled.

"I know he did a lot of things for you in the past, so it's okay if you believe him, but what I want to say

is... Mer, I'm willing to do anything to win your trust, as long as you ask."

"As long as you ask..."

This should be the biggest promise Derek had ever made. As long as he could, no matter what

Meredith asked, he was willing to do it.

As long as she would believe in him more, it was worthy.

It was also the first time Meredith had seen Derek say something like this. Although there were too

many conflicts between them, she knew that Derek was not a boastful person.

As long as he promised, he would do it.

Meredith squeezed the bag in her hand, her nails were flushed with a faint greenish-white because of

the force.

After a long time, she said, "No, you don't have to."

What was the point of saying this now?

For the sake of her mother, she would never make any mistakes at this crucial time. Besides, it took

her a long time to make up her mind to leave him, so she could not turn back.

Meredith's tone was tactful and gentle. But in Derek's ears, her words were more sarcastic than

anything else.

The most resigned thing in the world was that he desperately wanted to prove himself, but she was

unmoved.

Meredith looked at Derek's expression. At this moment, she had no idea what to say.

Comfort was useless and redundant.

She could only look at him in silence.

"Is that what from your bottom of heart? Is it true that you don't care at all about what will happen to me

in the future?"

Derek's murmur came into Meredith's ear and made her breath stopped for a second.

A man had always had a strong sense of self-respect. She had never heard him speak his mind so

honestly.

She hesitated for a moment, and then there was some noise from the children outside.

It turned out that it was time for the children to leave school.

"I'm sorry, Easton is out of school. I'll pick him up first."

With that, Meredith almost ran away.

She did not know whether she would waver or not if the talk continued. She could only escape so as

not to have any new decisions.

Derek smiled bitterly as he watched her back.

Compared to the intense hatred and resentment she once had towards him, her attitude was as mild as

water now.

The hatred was gone, which meant that she no longer loved him. Naturally, she wouldn't care about

him anything.

Derek sat there and watched Meredith leaving from afar. She didn't even look back once.

He showed a wry smile, then checked out and left.

After Meredith left the coffee shop, she took a few steps and felt something appeared in her eyes.

She wiped her face and found herself crying.

When she faced Derek just now, she had been holding back. But now, she couldn't resist anymore.

They couldn't go back anymore...

Meredith took a deep breath and patted her cheek. She knew that Easton was coming out soon, and

she couldn't let him see her sadness.

Meredith calmed down for a while, then went to the school gate. Easton and Fiona had already been

waiting there. When they saw that she was late, they pouted. "Mom, why are you so late? All the other

children were taken home."

"I'm sorry, Easton. Something just happened to mom." Meredith apologized immediately, took their

hands, and walked towards the car.

Easton was not really annoyed. The teacher checked his homework today. Easton was glad that he did

it yesterday, otherwise, the teacher would call Meredith.

Because of this, he had only been out for a few minutes. He just wanted to take this opportunity to act

coquettishly.

They got into the car.

"Then let's go out for dinner tonight. I want to go to KFC..."

Easton knew that with Meredith's usual personality, if she felt that she did something wrong, she would

make it up to him. It was just as well that he wanted to go out for something else.

However, Meredith didn't answer.

She was staring out the window in a daze. No one knew what she was thinking, but she looked a little

worried. Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

"There seems to be something wrong with aunt Mer."

Fiona had not said a word until just now, and she was originally not a talkative child. It was interesting

enough for her to listen to Easton's chatter.

"You can tell it, too..."

Easton nodded. Normally, Meredith would not be like this. She was so dazed that she didn't even hear

what Easton said.

Was she in trouble?

Just as he was thinking, Easton suddenly saw a familiar car passing by.

He called out immediately. "It's dad's car."

Only then did Meredith come to her senses.

"Mom, did you quarrel with dad?"

Meredith didn't want to talk about what happened today. She couldn't think about it, or she would feel

her chest be stuffed up.

"No, you're mistaken, Easton. If your father were here, why didn't he come to see you?"

Easton was bewildered. He was too familiar with the car, which was rare for only several around the

world. So he couldn't have been wrong.

But how could dad not come to see him?

Thinking of this, Easton was confused.

Seeing that he was thinking nonsense, Meredith said, "It's really not your father's car. It was so fast, so

it's possible for you to misjudge it. What did you just say? To KFC?"

Easton thought for a moment. Maybe he was mistaken, so he stopped struggling. "Yeah, I want fried

chicken and drumsticks."

"Fiona, would you like to go?"

Meredith looked at the little girl who was silent next to her. She agreed until Xin Ran nodded.
