"You need to be careful," Adessa said. Her eyes softened, and even if she was trying to smile, I could see the worry in her expression.

I raised my hand and let my knuckles run over her soft cheek. "You'll be safe here. I will come back as soon as I can. Keep the phone I gave you close, and never call me unless they're here. I will call you when I can." She nodded.

"I have to go."

"The last time you said goodbye to me, you came back unconscious, badly beaten, and on the brink of death." Her eyes watered before she continued. "Can you make sure to come back alive?"

I smiled and nodded before wrapping my arms around her and pulling her into a tight embrace. "I will come back alive. I have many things to make up for, and I need to get you out of this mess first."

She didn't say anything, but I felt her squeeze my body as she hugged me tightly, as if she didn't want to let go.

I turned my head to the side and kissed the side of her cheek, but I let my lips linger there, wanting to revel in the softness of her skin and the sweetness of her scent.

Adessa slowly tilted her head in the direction of my face, and just like what I was hoping for, her lips brushed against mine, and I didn't waste time capturing them.

My hands moved and cupped her cheeks as I began kissing her, softly and carefully at first, but the moment her lips moved against mine and her hold on my body tightened, I began kissing her aggressively, devouring every part of her that I could. Her lips parted, and my tongue plunged into her mouth, making soft moans escape her throat.

In one swift motion, I was already moving us, pressing her back against the wall while I pressed my front onto her. And Adessa didn't disappoint. "Adessa..." I growled lowly as I parted our mouths.

"Don't stop..." She whispered to me, her lips still pressed against mine.

I kissed her back gently, sucking and nipping her bottom lip. "I need to leave, or something will keep getting harder, and I won't be able to walk."

She chuckled softly before tilting her head down so that my lips ended on her forehead, our arms wrapped around each other.

"Come back alive, and we'll do something about that hard thing there." She said in a soft voice, but I heard it loud and clear.

Despite the danger and knowing I'd be away from her for a day or two, her words excited my whole being.

I curled a finger under her chin and tilted her head up. "You can't take that back anymore."

She shook her head, and a warm smile was plastered on her face. "Just come back soon... and alive."

Adessa's words kept ringing in my head as I drove all the way from Rasmus' territory to mine. And every time, I had to adjust my pants because just the thought of her and the kisses we shared was enough to make my cock hard.

I didn't have time to stop and do something about it. I wanted to get things done so I could get my reward. But of course, aside from that reward, I just wanted Adessa to be able to walk free so I could take her back into my pack.

I left the rented car with Rasmus and took another car. I hesitated when he offered his car but eventually borrowed Aunt Aria's. Rasmus' men would return the rented car and pick up his other car, which I had left near the hostel where I found Adessa. I had been driving the whole night and just made a stop to tank up and make a quick trip to the toilet. I wanted everything settled so I could go back to my wife.

Either I stop addressing her as my wife or I marry her again so I would have the right to call her that. But l was glad that Adessa never scolded or corrected me every time I used words. Either she still wanted married to me or she simply didn't care at all.

I hoped it was the first.

I parked the car and turned off the engine before walking toward the front of my house. Dexter and Landon were already there, waiting for me as I had advised someone from the border when I entered to

inform them to meet me.

It was already late at night, but I couldn't wait until tomorrow. I hoped I would be out of here before lunchtime, so I needed to let them know about my plans without divulging everything.

Both greeted me, and I just motioned for them to follow me. We all headed inside the house, going directly into my office.

As soon as the door was closed and I was already seated, I began with my agenda. "How's the investigation with Adessa?"

"So you've heard she killed people? I didn't know we had a murderer..."

"Enough." I cut Dexter off before he could say a more offensive word toward her. "Did anyone interview you or ask questions about her?"

They both shook their heads before

Landon answered, "But I know

they're still here, asking around.

They didn't present any formal documents on what they were doing so I plan to usher them out of

the territory tomorrow because they are causing discomfort to our people."

"Good." I was about to ask about that part, but I was pleased Landon was already on the same wavelength. "Anyway, I want Miranda here first thing tomorrow morning." "She's gone," Dexter replied.

"What do you mean she's gone?"

"She left today before sunset. We didn't know until someone from the border notified us that Luna Miranda drove past them, and they said she had her car full of luggage." Landon explained. "Fuck!" I growled, slamming my fist onto the desk. "Did you check her home?"

"Yes. All her personal belongings are gone. What's going on?" Dexter asked.

"She's running away from her crime," I said, trying my best not to throw another punch.

"Can you elaborate?" He asked again.

"Whatever mess Adessa is in is Miranda's doing."

"How did you know?" Landon asked.

"Adessa told me," I replied as I leaned back on my chair and pressed my fingers against my temple.

I didn't see this coming.

I thought she would still be here, but I guess she knew it was only a matter of time before her part in this was to be revealed.
