Chapter 2104
"Ah, I'm getting old and losing my touch." Nigel muttered, pouting like a disappointed child. "I attended my precious granddaughter's wedding, and now I'm stuck in bed. How embarrassing."
"Not at all, Grandpa Nigel. You're still strong, and you'll live a long and healthy life." Bella gently squeezed his rough, weathered hand, feeling a pang of guilt in her chest. She knew that he was too old to handle the strain anymore. If it had not been for Carrie's wedding, she would never have let Nigel make such a tiring journey.
"Bella, this past year, I've felt my body weakening more and more. Sometimes at night, when I go to sleep, I wonder if I'll wake up in the morning." Nigel's voice was thick with emotion as he spoke. "In my remaining years, I have only one wish, which is to attend your wedding with Justin."
"Grandpa Nigel..." Bella's eyes welled up with tears.
"Back then, I decided you two should be together, but I didn't even arrange a proper wedding for you. You've endured so much. Now that your relationship has stabilized, I want to make up for it as much as I can, so you won't have any regrets."
"Grandpa Nigel, the wedding will happen." Bella smiled warmly, trying to comfort him. "But things are chaotic on my side too. I've just taken over as CEO of KS Group, and my father is still unwell. Once things settle down, we'll start planning the wedding."
"Has that good-for-nothing Justin still not proposed to you?!" Nigel exclaimed, pounding the bed in frustration. "What's that idiot thinking every day? He doesn't take care of anything important! Just wait until he gets back-I'll skin him!"
"Grandpa Nigel, Justin has already proposed," Bella lied, not wanting to upset Nigel any further.
"Really? When?!" Nigel's dim eyes suddenly sparkled.
"When we were in Botvia," Bella replied quickly.
"There wasn't any fuss about it..." Nigel grumbled.
"Haha, what's the need for a big fuss? We didn't want to steal the spotlight from Ryan and Carrie," Bella said with a bright laugh.
"Ah, but your older brother certainly made a fuss-his proposal was more creative than my granddaughter-in-law's," Nigel murmured, smacking his lips meaningfully.
Bella nearly cringed out of embarrassment.
After Nigel fell asleep, Bella quietly left the room, letting Matt take over. Her stomach growled with hunger, so she decided to grab a bite at the hospital cafeteria. But before she could leave, Steven approached with a serious expression.
"Ms. Bella, guess who I just saw?"
"Who? Surely not Christopher; our luck can't be that bad, right?" Bella replied casually, taking a long gulpBelongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
of mineral water.
Steven's face darkened. "It really was."
"Pfft!" Bella choked, spitting out her water and turning bright red from coughing.
Steven wanted to help by patting her back, but he restrained himself, following his moral code. Instead, he
handed her a tissue.
"But I didn't see Christopher himself. I ran into his secretary heading toward the VIP ward."
"Taylor?" Bella asked, wiping her lips, her eyes narrowing.
"Yeah, that slimy bastard."
Steven gritted his teeth. "He's always attached to Christopher like a parasite. If he's here, Christopher must be too. I took a peek. Whatever's going on, they're guarding that area tight as a drum. Maybe Christopher's got some disease he doesn't want anyone to know about. The Iverson family's bodyguards have locked down the southern wing so tight that not even a fly could get in."
Bella's eyes glinted with a cold, sharp light. She shoved the water bottle into Steven's hands.
"Is that so? Well, it seems I must pay my 'old friend' a visit," Bella said, her tone laced with icy determination.
