Chapter 1282
Chapter 1282
With the clock nearing midnight, Beverley started arranging a séance circle using a technique she had
learned from a channeler. She switched off all the lights, placed a mirror atop the table, and lit a candle
before it.
As the chimes of midnight rang out, everyone gathered around the table, taking each other's hands,
and began reciting the incantation to summon spirits.
The candle's feeble glow flickered gently in the darkness.
Silence reigned in the study, the tension was palpable, marked only by the sound of their collective,
heavy breathing.
William was plotting his escape, imagining himself transforming into a mischievous imp.
Mira squinted into the corners of the room, glancing over her shoulder now and then, fearing a specter
might appear behind her.
She wouldn't mind if it were Liam's ghost, but it was the unknown that frightened her.
Nina whispered, "Is this séance working? Will Liam come?"
"I don't know. Let's wait. Even if he does, he might not show himself," Beverley responded, her voice
barely above a murmur.
Suddenly, a dull thud came from the balcony, where the glass doors were shut and the curtains drawn.
A tall shadow appeared on the fabric as if a phantom had stepped right out of the darkness.
Everyone froze, their eyes widening in terror, their bodies trembling violently.
Mira's mouth gaped open, wanting to scream, but the shock had tightened her throat, trapping her This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
voice inside.
William, Kane, and Skyler were equally startled.
They exchanged nervous glances. Had they inadvertently summoned some otherworldly ghost?
Pointing at the curtain, Nina stammered, "Ghost... Did it come?"
"Is it Liam?" Beverley stuttered, her voice almost inaudible.
William quickly gestured, "That's not Liam. Liam was just a child, and this shadow is too tall, so it must
be an adult."
"An adult?" Nina was petrified, clutching her arms tightly.
Mira hid behind Skyler. Nova looked around at everyone, and although she was just a baby, she
sensed the tension and put a finger to her lips, mimicking the "shush" gesture Mira had taught her.
William scooped up Nova, holding her close to protect her.
"Don't speak. There's a ghost."
Nova bobbed her head like a pecking chick.
The shadow remained still as if etched onto the curtain.
Beverley, Skyler, and the kids were too afraid to move, even holding their breaths.
"Skyler, Beverley, what do we do now?" William whispered.
Skyler glanced at Beverley, "Did you ask how to send a ghost back once it's been summoned?"
Beverley broke into a cold sweat and said, "I forgot to ask."
Kane grabbed an oak wand, "No worries, and we've got this. Ghosts are afraid of the oak wand, right?
If we hold these, it won't dare come close."
"Right," William nodded, and they all reached for the oak wands nearby.
"Beverley, I'm scared," Mira was on the verge of tears.
Nina was frightened too because it was her first encounter with a real ghost.
"Why isn't the ghost moving?"
"Maybe it's scared of our oak wands and doesn't dare to enter?" William speculated.
"Possibly," Beverley agreed. Read at
Taking a deep breath, Skyler knew he had to be brave as the oldest and the boy.
"I'll check it out."
William grabbed him quickly, "Skyler, be careful. Keep the oak wand in front of you."
