Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Every time Aurelia saw her, her heart skipped a beat.
This woman was clearly no good, she wouldn’t be stabbing Aurelia in the back otherwise.
‘Ms. Elowen, you know my aunt, don’t you? I’ve had surgery and need to recuperate. My aunt is here
to take care of me.”
Aurelia managed a smile, trying to stay calm.
Laura nodded in agreement, playing along with the ruse. “Aurelia’s been working alone in Elysium, her Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
mother’s always fretting and calling me to check up on her.”
What a coincidence!
Elowen seemed dubious, eyeing Aurelia suspiciously. “I’m warning you, stay away from Leopold. If you
dare seduce him, I’ll make you suffer.”
Aurelia gasped inwardly. Was she being considered a rival in love?
Wasn’t that a bit too flattering?
“Ms. Elowen, is there some misunderstanding here? I hardly ever see Mr. Leopold. We hardly cross
paths at all, you have nothing to worry about.” She didn’t want to stay another minute, and quickly
made her way to the checkout with Laura.
Elowen watched her leave with a cold gaze.
The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. Was the child in Aurelia’s belly really gone?
Was she being lied to?
Aurelia let out a breath of relief when she reached her doorstep.
Upon opening the door, a towering figure greeted her sight.
A second shock!
“Mr. Leopold… Mr. Leopold, what brings you here?”
This was the first time the big boss had shown up since she moved into the apartment.
“Just passing by.”
Leopold casually uttered the words.
He was here for a routine check, to make sure there were no threats to the children.
“Oh.” Aurelia got herself a glass of water, and sat down to drink it, trying to calm her nerves.
Laura recounted their encounter with Elowen at the supermarket.
Concerned that he might be upset, Aurelia hurriedly said, “Mr. Leopold, there’s no need to worry. I told
Elowen that Laura was my cousin and she seemed to buy it. There was no suspicion.”
Leopold frowned slightly. He wasn’t concerned about Elowen’s scheming, he was more wary of other
people.
“Report to me immediately if anything happens in the future.”
“Oh.” Aurelia nodded.
There was indeed something she needed to tell him.
She had initially planned to text him later, but since he was here, she decided to tell him in person.
“Mr. Leopold, I withdrew ten thousand from the card this afternoon. Don’t worry, I’ll pay you back in
installments.”
Leopold’s lips curved into a mocking smile.
What games was she playing now? He realized this woman was not only cunning, but also full of
tricks.
“This is the money I gave you, no need to report it to me. What you should do is behave yourself.”
Aurelia suddenly thought of their unexpected first kiss, her cheeks flushed, and she quickly took a gulp
of water.
“I’m as harmless as a lamb, completely law–abiding.”
Who was she trying to fool?
Leopold’s mocking gaze intensified, accompanied by a hint of disdain.
Nice act, but she had picked the wrong target. He could see right through her.
“Playing games will get you nowhere. Remember that.”
Oh my, she was as pure as snow, where were the games?
This was clearly the arrogance and prejudice of a top–tier boss.
Aurelia couldn’t be bothered to argue
He could think whatever he wanted, as long as the child was born, it wouldn’t matter anymore.
“Mr. Leopold, rest assured, I will be a quiet vessel until the day the child is born.”
She got up and went to her room, planning to take a bath and then have a good dinner, not letting him
affect her mood.
Leopold leaned back on the sofa, drank a cup of tea, and seeing that it was getting late, also prepared
to leave.
Suddenly, a scream came from the bathroom.
“Ah!”
He leaped up and dashed towards the bathroom like a whirlwind…
