The CEO’S Secret Mistress

Chapter 8 Fake apologies

Mavis was looking at Lisa, waiting for a good explanation as to how she got Blaine’s business card and she listened intently as Lisa said” I listened to your discussion with him and felt that you might regret your purely egocentric decision, so while you went back into the house, I shamelessly chased after his car as he was about leaving and asked for his business card.”

” I appreciate that this has become useful but it’s not a bad thing to have some pride Lisa, it’s really not.” Luke judged playfully, making everyone laugh because they knew he was mimicking Mavis’s next words.

” Shut up already…” Mavis muttered as she looked at his business card and took out her phone so she could call him.

” Have you ever thought of how you would present the matter to him? You did hurt his feelings the last time you spoke.” Lisa asked when she saw that Mavis just dialed his number without much thinking done.

” Uh…I’m gonna tell him that he can come to buy the house now.”

” No apologies?” Luke asked.

” Exactly no –”

” Hello, this is Neonites, how may I help you?”

” Uhh…I’m Mavis Tremont and I’d like to speak with Mr. Rider.” Mavis said and cringed at how unprofessional she sounded.

” What would you like to speak to him about?” the lady on the phone asked.

” About the purchase of the Tremont Estate in London,”

” Oh…hold on. He’s currently on the line with someone else, could you please hold? he’ll answer in a few minutes.” She asked so politely and Mavis agreed.

Thirty minutes later, Blaine didn’t answer the phone. Mavis had gotten so angry at several intervals that she nearly ended the call but her friends stopped her. She was currently being held hostage by Amy and Darla who kept her hands away from the phone.

” Oh, he’s never gonna answer let’s just end the –”

” Hello?” Blaine said in a voice so deep that the girls squealed and giggled.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

Mavis pushed Amy and Darla aside for being so loud with their squealing before she took her phone.

” Hi, this is Blaine Rider right?”

” Mavis?” he said, his voice smooth and a tad bit hopeful. Amy was swooning already while Darla mouthed to Mavis, ” he knows your voice. You lucky bitch!”

” Yes, it’s me. Hi,”

” Hi,”

” Umm…Blaine, I’m sorry about how I spoke to you the other day. You didn’t deserve to be treated that way.” Mavis started while cringing the entire time. She hated apologizing.

” I’m not mad at you Mavis,” he said with a chuckle.

” Oh…that’s uhh…. nice!” Mavis said, feigning relief, she honestly couldn’t care less if he was mad at her or not. She only apologized because her friends and siblings were watching her.

” Is there anything else?” he asked and she realized that they didn’t say a word for quite some time.

” No, I mean, yes. I would like to sell –”

Amy, Darla, and Lisa suddenly started shouting disapproval and Mavis moved her phone away from them.

” The hell is wrong with you? Ask him to lunch or dinner, then you’ll talk about your willingness to sell the Estate now!” Amy commanded in a tough tone.

” Jeez…okay I will, ugh!”

” Hello?”

” Yeah I was saying that I would like us to hang out…for dinner or lunch, I don’t know whatever you’re free for,” Mavis said in a very sassy tone, unlike the polite tone she was going for. He said nothing for a while and Lisa face palmed herself while shaking her head.

” Sure…it’s just that I’m only free in the next five hours. I’ll be traveling back to LA tomorrow so…I don’t believe that would be convenient for you.”

” No! It’ll be fine. Where can we meet?” Mavis said desperately because she really needed to sell the house to him.

” Glam fleeks? I don’t know if that’s your taste but I’ll send my driver to pick you up in two hours, please don’t delay him.”

” Sure, thanks,” Mavis said, and then she hung up.

” What?” she asked when she saw Lisa, Amy, and Darla looking at her with so much judgment.

” can’t believe we talked you into doing this yet you’re the one who gets to live my dream and go eat lunch at Glam fleeks!!!!” Darla erupted and yanked her hair dramatically.

” Oh please, it’s just food. You girls should please help me with my make-up.” Mavis teased, knowing how much this must’ve pained them.

” No, there’s nothing in it for us!” Lisa said with feigned resentment before she got up to leave, followed by Amy and Darla. Luke who had been there for the whole show held Darla’s hand and said to her, ” I can take you to Glam fleeks, don’t worry Baby.”

” Ugh! Mavis tell your brother I’m seven years older than him and he’s sixteen!”

” I’m eighteen though!” Luke protested and followed Darla around the house while she screamed in mock horror, making Mavis laugh.

She knew Darla liked Luke but never made a move on him because she was his sister. In truth, Darla was just twenty years old but she got into school very early so she ended up being friends with Mavis, Darla, Amy, and Gale who were seven years older than her.

It was one of their biggest secrets to keep Darla’s age a secret because of Luke. Darla claimed she wanted it that way so that Luke would stop making moves on her but in reality, she wanted Luke just as much as he wanted her but she wouldn’t admit it.

Even though she didn’t mind her friend dating her brother, she still found it a tad bit weird because…well, just because.

The matter that bothered her more than anything was meeting Blaine. Just remembering the flashes of his lips and body that invaded her mind upon thinking about him left her cheeks red and her body hot. The man confused her…because how could he infuriate her for no reason yet she’s attracted to him?

” No, I can’t get visibly attracted to him…I just can’t.” she said to herself before she went in search of Amy so that they would help her with her makeup and outfit for her ” lunch” with Blaine.
