The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet

Chapter 2109

In her eyes, Ethan was just making excuses. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he'd seen it all and rubbed shoulders with the high and mighty. And here he was, claiming to be nervous in front of her, a nobody? Yeah, right! To her, these silver-spoon types had no clue about the value of hard work. To them, wasting was just part of the daily routine. And Lydia? She couldn't stand that kind of attitude. It was clear as day; she and Ethan were like oil and water.

"Come on, I'm human too, of course, I get nervous," Ethan said, rubbing his hands together like he was about to make some monumental mistake in front of Lydia.

Lydia eyed him skeptically. "Never got grounded as a kid, huh?"

Ethan, without thinking, responded, "No."

A smirk played on Lydia's lips. "Figures."

"Figures what?" Ethan was puzzled.

Lydia just sipped her water, shaking her head, "Nothing."

It was obvious she was holding back a laugh which only piqued Ethan's curiosity even more.

He leaned in closer, a playful eagerness on his face, "Come on, what is it? If you don't tell me, I might not be able to enjoy my dinner."

"What's your dinner got to do with me!" Lydia shot back, putting down her glass with a glance that screamed indifference.

"Hey, at the very least, I'm your patient. If a patient can't eat, that's not good for their health. You can't just ignore that," Ethan replied, trying to sound hurt.C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.

Lydia looked up to see Ethan's handsome face painted with a look of mock distress. It was so unexpectedly charming that Lydia felt her heart skip a beat. What was he doing? Playing with fire?

"Your health is your mom's problem! I'm just here to do my job!" Lydia averted her gaze, her voice full of feigned confidence as she picked up her glass again to hide her flustered expression.

"I wish my mom could take care of me, but unfortunately, she passed away when I was very young," Ethan's voice softened. "Oh?" Lydia was taken aback.

"Died of illness. All the money in the world couldn't save her," Ethan explained.

Lydia felt a pang of sympathy, advising him, "You should maintain a healthy lifestyle, you know, early to bed, early to rise."

"Yeah, health is vital. And if you don't

tell me what you were laughing about, I might really lose my

appetite. You know, skipping meals is bad for the stomach. For the sake of health, you might as well spill it."

Lydia rolled her eyes. After all this back and forth, he was still on this.

"You were pampered as a child, the precious little boy who never got spanked. The fact you can't forget the one time you did get a metaphorical 'spanking' shows you've got a classic case of being too spoiled."

She finally let him in on why she was laughing. Because, in all honesty Ethan did seem like the type who needed a good reality check. The more she tried to push him away, the more he clung to her.

Hearing her reason, Ethan was speechless.

"I'm attracted to you, not asking to be punished," Ethan clarified.

At those words, Lydia's grip on her glass tightened, her whole body freezing for a moment.
