Chapter 486

Two minutes later, a woman who looked about 40 years old ran up and grabbed the lady’s hand, “My

goodness, why didn’t you tell me you were coming up to the second floor? I’ve been looking for you

everywhere.”

“Ruby, I just met a girl and she seemed quite nice.”

As Ruby helped the old lady out of the elevator, she listened to her recount the recent event, “From

what you’re saying, she sounds really good.”

“Mmm, she’s quite a looker too,” the lady said with a smile. “Let’s head home. Miranda is probably

waiting for us.”

After a while, their car pulled up to the Lindberg residence. The lady got out and headed into the living

room where Miranda came over to assist her, “Mom, you could’ve sent Ruby if you needed something.

Why bother going out yourself?”

“It’s been a while since I’ve been to Northfield. I wanted to stretch my legs.”

Sabrina asked with a smile, “Where’s Lucian? When is he coming back?”

“I called him, but Shawn picked up and said he’s in a meeting.”

Sabrina responded, “It’s good for young people to be busy.”

Naturally, Miranda was proud of her son, “After all, Carter did hand over Lindberg Corporation to him.

He’s hardly been home this week.”

Sabrina was in town due to the upcoming wedding between the Lindberg and Flanagan families. She

hadn’t been able to come before because she wasn’t feeling well, but upon hearing about Penelope’s

miscarriage and hospitalization after saving Miranda, she had been eager to visit and meet her future

granddaughter-in-law. Now that she was feeling better, she finally made the trip.

Miranda said, “I’ve discussed the wedding with Mrs. Flanagan. We originally planned to wait until

Penelope recovered, but Mrs. Flanagan seems quite eager to get the ball rolling.”

Mrs. Lindberg chimed in, “It’s understandable that they want to speed things up, considering their

daughter lost her child saving you. We do owe them something.”

Miranda sighed, “I get it. I think Penelope is quite nice. She saved Lucian after all. But…” She recalled

her son’s attitude toward Penelope and was somewhat concerned.

Sabrina asked, “But what?” She had seen pictures of Penelope, and she could see that Penlope was a

beautiful girl. Moreover, rescuing Miranda in a dangerous situation showed that she was a kind-hearted

girl as well. The Lindberg family had a thriving business and the Brummett Group had a long history.

Although the Flanagan family was not as well-off, the Lindbergs were not ones to judge based on

wealth. As long as Penelope was kind and of good character, that was all that mattered.

More importantly, Lucian liked her.

Miranda didn’t hold back, “Mom, you don’t know, but Lucian’s attitude towards Penelope is somewhat

strange. And Penelope, I liked her at first, but then I found that she….sometimes she’s not the same.

Sometimes she’s gentle and generous, but other times she can be sharp and bitter, as though she’s

two different people.”

Sabrina said, “You don’t need to worry too much. As parents, we shouldn’t interfere, too much in our

children’s affairs. You remember when you wanted to marry Zachary, I wasn’t so keen either.” The

mention of the past made Sabrina visibly displeased.

Miranda laughed, “Mom, that was ages ago. How do you still remember that?”

That year, Sabrina arranged many blind dates for Miranda with children from wealthy families. But

Miranda was only interested in Zachary, who had no business interests and only loved literature and

art.

Although Zachary was the son that Carter was very pleased with, he had no interest in the company

affairs, and was only passionate about literary creation. He had no interest in the power struggle within

Lindberg Corporation. Unexpectedly, in the end, Lindberg Corporation fell into the hands of Zachary’s Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.

son, Lucian.

Although Lucian was Zachary’s son, their characters were completely different. Lucian was more like

Carter.
