Chapter 449

The third floor was the dwelling of Frances, the eldest son of the Boswell family, and it was off-limits to

everyone else. Ever since Morgan got sick, no one was allowed anywhere near the third floor. Because

of a car accident, Morgan’s favorite son had to spend his days bedridden. Behind the accident, there

was an even bigger power struggle. Sadly, the culprit of the accident was never found. After the

accident, a drunk driver came forward and confessed. So, Frances, who was once high-spirited, hit

rock bottom from the pinnacle of his life.

Wilton walked into the last room on the third floor. John was sitting in a chair outside, and when he saw

Wilton, he stood up and said, “Sir.”

Wilton nodded at John, “I’m going to see my brother.”

He walked into the sickroom, the air filled with the smell of disinfectant. The room had a big bed and

some simple high-end furniture, along with an oxygen machine and various medical equipment.

The person lying in the bed looked exactly like him.

The man’s hair was a shade lighter than his, as if it was the result of not seeing the sun for years.

The man in the bed opened his eyes and smiled, “You’re here.”

Wilton walked over and said, “You’re awake.”

“Yeah, just woke up. My head’s a bit sore.” Frances said.

As Wilton prepared to call the doctor, the man in bed said, “I’m fine, I’ve just been in bed too long.”

“Just rest. I’ll arrange for a doctor to do a special check-up for you next year. The results from two

months ago were very good, and the doctor said you’re recovering well.” Wilton said.

The man in bed shook his head, “You don’t have to sugarcoat it. I know my condition.”

Wilton fell silent for a while.

The man in bed said, “Next week, you’re planning on registering for marriage with the Santos family’s

daughter, right?”

Hearing this, Wilton was taken aback, “Yes.”

The man said, “I feel like I’m holding her back.”

Wilton wanted to comfort him, but before he could say anything, the man said, “Can you do me a

favor? I don’t want to hold her back.”

“This marriage was arranged by our grandfather. After he passed, no one brought it up again, but

recently it’s been brought up. Clearly, Mina came prepared.” Wilton said, and his hands clenched into

fists, “You don’t have to feel any obligation towards the Santos family. If they’re not willing, they’ll This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.

refuse. They want to latch onto us, but they don’t want their daughter to marry into the Boswell family.

What kind of nonsense is that?”

“You can’t say that. I’m not in good health, and I might not live long. If I marry their daughter, I’d just be

ruining her life. She’s still young, and why should she waste her youth on me?” He said, “If the Santos

girl’s good, then you should marry her.”

Wilton looked at the man in bed. He didn’t answer, but asked, “Did Mina come by today?”

“Yes, I was resting at the time and John stopped her.” Frances said.

Mina obviously wanted to come and see his condition, but because of Morgan’s orders, she didn’t force

her way in. She just had a few words at the door and left.

The car accident six years ago definitely had something to do with Mina. But the two brothers didn’t

have any solid evidence.
