Chapter 1251
"Kari, make sure you clock out early when Ronald gets back. We'll have a family dinner, just the three of us.
Willa was still talking about Ronald.
Kari nodded, "Sure, got it."
Ronald returned a week later. Fresh off the plane, he received a call from Kari.
"Bro, Mom made stew tonight. You coming over?"
Dressed in a sleek black trench coat, despite looking weary from travel, Ronald's innate aura of authority was unmistakable.
His assistant, noticing the softening of his expression, knew immediately who was on the line.
But his family had a dinner party planned for the evening.
"Sure."
Ronald had no intention of attending the dinner party. Spending time with Kari seemed far more appealing than wasting hours with the Malones. "I just landed, on my way now."
The assistant thought to caution him but was silenced by a stern look from Ronald.
Ronald gestured for the driver to start the car.
"Great, I'll pick up some of your favorite fruits," Kari said, relieved he was coming.
After hanging up, Kari shouted towards the kitchen, "Mom, Bro's landed. I'm off to get some fruit, take care."
"Alright, dear."
Willa responded, then heard the door close.
"That child, always in such a hurry!"
Knowing Ronald's discerning taste, Kari headed to a high-end grocery store for some fruits and then stopped by a deli for some charcuterie, thinking it would be nice to have while watching shows in the evening. Entering the complex, Kari spotted Nathan Jarvis waiting downstairs.

Nathan had come by a few times, hoping for reconciliation.
"Kari, I just want to talk," Nathan's voice quivered, finding it hard to accept their separation. "Give me some time="
"Nathan, there's nothing left to discuss."
Kari did have feelings for Nathan, or they wouldn't have been talking marriage.
But Nathan should never have been part of the Jarvis family.
The Jarvis family had not shown any remorse from the beginning until now!
Nathan's face went pale, his lips trembling.
"Nathan, Kari has moved on. Please, keep your distance."
Ronald stepped out of the car and saw Nathan bothering Kari. His brows furrowed as he strode over, positioning himself protectively in front of Kari.
Kari hadn't expected him so soon, especially not to this scene, feeling a mix of surprise and awkwardness.
"Who are you?"
Nathan hadn't met Ronald before.
"So, you're the man my mother mentioned?"
Mila had been buzzing in Nathan's ear these past few days, claiming Kari had found someone new and even brought him home. He refused

"You-"
Nathan's gaze fixed on Kari, "Kari, who is this guy?"
He couldn't believe Kari had moved on so quickly and demanded an explanation.
Kari knew what Nathan was thinking, but why should she satisfy him?
"Nathan, who he is, is none of your business."
Kari's voice was soft but firm. "We're done. Who I'm with or talk to is my own concern."
"Bro, let's go."
Kari had no interest in lingering.
She turned to leave, with Ronald following.
"Kari, you okay?"
Kari offered a small smile, "Bro, I'm fine."
She was quick to accept that Nathan was not her path. No matter the heartache, life goes on.
Ronald, understanding her resilience, felt a mixture of relief and a complex swirl of emotions.
