Chapter 1162
"What? You're kidding me!"
"According to our investigation, Brittany has been seen quite often with a young man, and, get this, they've even spent nights together."
Mrs. Walker's eyes narrowed to slits. "I remember Piper mentioning Brittany had a boyfriend."
"Dig deeper!"
...
Back at the Lynette Corporation, Brittany's work hours were strictly monitored.
Eight hours a day, not a minute more.
The whole town buzzed with the news that Brittany was carrying a child of royal descent, causing her usual detractors to tread more lightly, and her social engagements plummeted.
After work, instead of heading back to the Lynette estate, Brittany was whisked away to the villa by the Eltham family's butler. No sooner had she stepped through the door than she caught Daniel's voice "You promised, if I came back with you, I could see my mom!"
Daniel sounded upset, confronting Eltham, "Where's my mom?"
He'd been there for an hour, and still no sign of his mother. He was ready to bolt home.
Eltham wasn't particularly fond of Daniel, but he didn't dislike the boy either.
"She's back."
Eltham glanced at the clock.
Daniel felt he was being brushed off, grabbed his backpack, and headed for the door, only to stop short when he saw Brittany.
"Whoa-"
He dropped his bag and sprinted towards Brittany. "Mommy-"
Brittany opened her arms wide.
"Ah! Let me go, let me go-" Before Daniel could hug Brittany, Eltham scooped him up. "Your mom is pregnant, you can't hug her too tight! What if you hurt her?" Daniel glared at Eltham. "Let me go!"
Eltham stood firm.
Brittany, trying to avert a showdown, said, "Eltham, it's okay. Let him go."
Emboldened, Daniel stood taller. "Let go!"
Eltham relented.
Remembering Eltham's caution, Daniel approached Brittany cautiously, taking her hand. "Mom, I've missed you so much."
Brittany had missed him too.
She crouched down to embrace him, kissing his cheek. "You've lost weight."This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
Daniel's cheeks blushed as he hugged Brittany back. "Mom, when can you come home? I miss you."
Brittany felt a pang of sadness. "Soon."
"Are you not feeling well? Is that why he won't let me hug you?"
"No, it's not that."
Brittany took his hand, placing it on her belly. "Mom has a little baby in here, so I have to be careful."
Daniel's eyes widened in shock. "A baby?"
"Yes."
Daniel's surprise turned into excitement. "Is it going to be a sister?"
"Not sure yet."
Brittany shook her head. "We won't know the sex until the baby is born."
Eltham frowned, knowing that if Brittany really wanted to, they could easily find out if it was a boy or a girl. He secretly hoped for a gift, someone who resembled Brittany.

Daniel gently touched Brittany's stomach. "Grandpa said being pregnant is hard. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Brittany squeezed his hand. "Hungry?"
"A little."
"What do you want to eat? I'll make it for you."
Daniel always loved Brittany's cooking. It had been nearly a mont
