Chapter 1159
Brittany was worried that her connection with Isaac might draw unwanted attention from the royal family to him.
She called Yuri, who had recently been discharged from the hospital. Learning that she was safe brought a sigh of relief from him.

"Surprisingly well, Eltham seems to have had a change of heart," Brittany said, puzzled. "He refuses to let me go and now says he's willing to accept our child." Yuri frowned. "He's gone after the Walker family. In just a few days, they're on the brink of bankruptcy."
Brittany hadn't expected Eltham to be so ruthless. "Dad, please take care of yourself. We can leave Lynette Enterprises in Holden's capable hands."
Holden Lynette was exceptionally talented and could surely manage Lynette Enterprises efficiently.
Yuri nodded. "Holden does have his strengths..."
Unfortunately, he wasn't of Lynette blood. If he were, having him and Brittany co-inherit Lynette Enterprises wouldn't be a bad idea.
After a long conversation, Brittany went to bed, feeling a mix of emotions.
In the following days, Eltham was rarely home, granting Brittany a significant degree of freedom within the confines of their vast mansion. The butler took great care of her, fearing she might feel lonely, and made sure to accompany her on walks and talks at fixed times. Brittany accepted this new routine.
A week later, the news broke that the Walker family had declared bankruptcy. Jasper was sentenced to life imprisonment, and Piper got dragged into the mess, causing a stir in Craneville and leaving everyone on edge.
After watching the news, Brittany had mixed feelings. Piper had always been hostile towards her, and Brittany wasn't saintly enough to forgive her. Eltham's move, in a way, felt satisfying. At least, Piper wouldn't be a threat to her anymore. That evening, Eltham visited, bringing a gift with him.
Brittany wasn't interested in the gift but during dinner, Eltham served her a bowl of soup. "Piper can't target you anymore since she exposed your pregnancy and now, the Walker family is bankrupt."
"I saw," Brittany sipped the soup. "She genuinely liked you. Aren't you worried about breaking her heart?"
Eltham seemed unconcerned. "The world is full of people who like me. Should I worry about all their feelings?"
Brittany had to admit, from a certain perspective, Eltham was indeed heartless.
"The gift," he said, handing it over to Brittany. She looked up, "What is it?"
"It's your favorite sweets from that famous bakery. Your son picked them out."
Brittany shuddered. "You've seen Daniel?"
"Why are you nervous?"
Eltham stared straight at her. "Are you afraid I'll hurt him?"
"How could I not worry? He's my son. If you dare touch him, I'll never forgive you."
Eltham shrugged. "Why would I harm him? I quite like the kid."
Brittany couldn't figure him out. "Don't do this-"
"I've said it before. As long as you stay, I'll treat everyone you care about well."
Brittany had no patience for more talk. "It's late; I'm going upstairs."
Eltham glanced at the sweets. "Have some dessert; it'll improve your mood."
His suggestion sounded more like a command.
Brittany, not wanting to argue with a madman, opened the box and indulged in a few bites. The taste was as delightful as ever, calming her nerves. After enjoying several pieces of cake, Eltham stopped her.
"Too much dessert isn't good for you."
He paused, fearing she might feel slighted. "I'll buy you whatever you want every day."
